RANDOM

CFarley982

I'm an electronics engineer who reads and writes for fun. I am not nor do I plan to become a professional writer. I enjoy reading quirky, unusual, thoughtful and different. If you think you have such a book, take a look at my books and reading lists and if you still think I'd enjoy your work or someone else's work, please feel free to message me to suggest a book.

I've posted a semi-fictional autobiographical trilogy, a short memoir, two collections of short stories and a very short mystery novelette on Wattpad.

The books in the trilogy are Sharing Afflictions(97,000 words), For What It's Worth(61,000 words), and Time of Your Life(57,000 words). The trilogy follows an unlikely group of twenty somethings as they deal with life threatening afflictions, sort out romantic entanglements, and unravel an assortment of adventure laden mysteries. They are best read in the order I've listed them.

The memoir is a short and hopefully humorous stream of unconsciousness called Pretty Sure I'm Dead (11,000 words).

The two collections of short stories are Joe's Bar and Grill (31,000 words) and Another Cup of Joe (18,000 words). The shorts are for the most part separate stories focused on the patrons of Joe's bar. Each collection does have a plot that threads through all the stories within the collection, so you will want to read the shorts in order.

The novelette is Mystery Man (2700 words). It is a locked room mystery, just for fun.

Sharing Afflictions, Pretty Sure I'm Dead and the short stories have great reviews in The Little Bookstore Around the Corner by aka K Maulder. I also highly recommend her book Thistle Wish also on Wattpad.

If you like a chapter, please vote on it. If you dont feel you can vote, please at least leave a comment on the final chapter so I can know how many readers have actually read some of the book. The read count is a misleading stat that increments every time a book is opened.

I cordially invite you to my world of few
With words & pictures, I reach to you

Come sit with me for but a while
And may these simple stories make you smile

Or perhaps indeed, you'll shed a tear
For characters you end up holding dear?

May their fantasy realms absorb you deep
So fond memories of them, you'll wish to keep.

But if their adventures are not to your taste
I apologise, if your time I waste

I bid farewell with thanks sincere
For you taking time and stopping here.

And I hope you find that for which you look
Within the pages of another's book.

Quiet living, with a penchant for World of Warcraft. Inclined more towards the romance in fantasy games/films , my stories are predominantly love stories.

At 33 I am a bit older than the average wattpadian ( Of course, in reality, I have the mental age of a ten year old;-)). I am a writer, actor, storyteller, singer, puppeteer, sculptor, swordswoman, and all around creative. I love all things history and myth. I have traveled to 20+ countries, mostly as a solo traveler, and LOVE exploring new cultures and meeting new people.

I am also a Wattpad Ambassador (Club Ambassador/Moderator to be specific) which means I'm here to help if I can. Feel free to leave a message on my wall or PM me if you have wattpad questions. I'll do my best to find you some answers and am always happy to help:-)

Do you believe...?

* That shadows can hold beautiful and terrifying secrets...
* That the miracle of technology cannot compete with the will of one determined person...
* That good can triumph over evil...though usually at a price...
* That the horror of the living dead may be exceeded by the horror of ordinary people...
* That poetry, magic and love are three sides of the same coin...
...And that even the small and weak may defeat the great and strong...with cleverness, daring and maybe a bit of luck...

...Then I have a few stories to share with you.

J. A. Partridge has been an editorial assistant for a regional newspaper, an accounting specialist in a variety of accounting fields, a special projects coordinator (whatever that is) and a web application developer/designer/stylist--perhaps not too surprising for a biology major who somehow ended up with a BA and a double major in Philosophy and Religion.

He's also an award-winning poet but he's promised to give that up.

Trained in both eastern and western martial arts, he is the father of two (one in Heaven, one in Texas, so they're still close) and lives in south Texas with his wife and some sort of vaguely Pomeranian dog named Ginger Pie where he does the web thing, writes and practices his Kung Fu and Tai Chi.

He is currently attempting to write a full novel in every genre category recognized by Wattpad.

If you see anything you think might be even slightly interesting, be sure to follow to be notified of updates.

I have blonde hair, orange glasses--wait, you don't care to know about what I look like, you got a picture of me already. Though, you can't see that I'm partially deaf and going blind, so there's that.

I'm not your average Wattpadder, it seems. It's been nearly half my life since I was a teen. And I got a bachelor's from an university. I work a 9-5 job, got a toddler that wants to destroy the world, and a lovely fiance whomm I love.

I'm here to write and to read stories. I'm here to help other writers, and to get feedback. If you leave a comment with feedback on how the story can improve, you bet I will help you in return. I can be found in the clubs of Romance and IYW and Cafe. I also like to Reddit and tweet. I'm Dawn_of_writing over in those parts.

Pleased to make your acquaintance!

I work as a developer at the company Newport, based in Norrköping, though my work there is quite separate from what I write.

I write in a mix of English and Swedish, in several different genres, though they all have elements of mysticism, mainly inspired by my native Swedish myths and legends.

Main three works in progress at the moment are:

The Småty saga (urban fantasy), following a time of magic reawakened in Sweden, with the beginning being the traumatised Vendela forced to deal with the centuries old mage who killed her parents.

Maw of Endless darkness (YA epic fantasy) follows the princess Lynessa as she is forced to join her husband Vanlandi Sveigdersson Jarl in a quest to recover the Sun-Child eaten by the Wolf.

Unnamed (Steampunk) follows Agustín, a noblewoman-turned-pirate-engineer as she and the crew of the Sea Dragon travel between Europe and the New World in the late 1800s, a timeline separated from ours as the Spanish Restoration never occurred.

So far, I think my life can be divided into three stages.

The first was being born in the southwest of Scotland, in a small village where I spent my first eighteen years. It's living there that I credit with my love of the green and the countryside. It's also what I think helped me develop my love of books, as a way to the greater world (and others) that I couldn't easily reach yet.

The second stage began when I moved to Glasgow to go to university. This is when I began writing with more frequency. It also helped broaden my reading thanks to people I met and the abundance of second-hand bookshops nearby.

The third stage was moving to New Mexico to be with the talented woman who is now my wife. I've been here for a little over eight years now and it's still the best thing I ever did for me.

I'm not sure when the next stage will begin, it's just a matter of where my journey takes me. But for now, I'm happy to have somewhere to put my thoughts. And for a sample of those thoughts, me interviewing me.

This is me. I'm a scribbler.

And before you ask; yes, I can still bring on the accent.

[Almost EVERYTHING on here is a work in progress, please bare with me as I get things situated. It has become very difficult these last few months to sit down and focus on my writing, I hope this will be remedied soon. ]

Vampire Bites is currently undergoing a rewrite session, it is a story I have been working on by hand for over nine years and I am finding it extremely difficult to get it typed out. Something keeps getting lost in translation.

Zenobia is currently on hold because the story has changed directions and I need to figure out how to rewrite that as well. In the mean time, enjoy what I do have up and keep checking back for more.

-It's always Darkest Just before the Dawn- Rise Against. Words to live by. I like to remember. No matter how bad the storm gets...The sun will ALWAYS rise again. When it doesn't..well we will deal with that at the time.

Like most authors, I have a deep love affair with words. I've always been curious about interpersonal and intrapersonal relationships so I began reading novels. As a teen, my favorite hobby was shopping trips to the book store to pick up the latest works by Kimberla Lawson Roby, Kayla Perrin and Mary Monroe. I craved the feeling of being thrust into a new literary world, following the lives of young women through their journeys of love, motherhood and professional achievements.

I live with my wife in Pembrokeshire, one of the most unspoilt areas of the UK. Like many authors, I began writing short stories and contributing to a range of magazines but when I first read Stephen King's On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft I was inspired to begin writing books.

My first novel, 'Queen Sacrifice' was written after looking into the early history of Wales and seeing the parallels to a game of chess, with kings and queens, bishops and castles – and the people becoming pawns in their civil wars.

An interest in space exploration going back to witnessing the Apollo landings as a child led to the writing of Atlantis – The Final Space Shuttle Mission and development of the NASA Latest blog, which has only been possible through the generous support of the NASA media team.

Before becoming a writer I was Head of Cardiff Harbour Authority and supported the Captain Scott Society with exhibitions on the departure of Scott's ship the Terra Nova from Cardiff Docks in 1910. I have since researched and written Terra Nova: Antarctic Voyager with support from the Glamorgan Archives and Captain Scott's granddaughter, Dafila Scott.

When not writing I enjoy sea and river kayaking and have a specialist blog Kayak Journeys about some of my more interesting kayak adventures. I also enjoy hiking and plan to complete the full 186 miles of the Pembrokeshire Coast path which passes fifty-eight beautiful beaches and fourteen harbours. Other interests include music and art. I have a blog called The Awakening Conscience where I occasionally write about Ruskin and the PRB.

Any tips and advice would be welcome, and I just hope someone might enjoy reading my stuff as much as I've enjoyed writing it. Please let me know if you like it and feel free to add any comments. It would also help to steer me in the direction of other writer's stories who share my preferred genre.

For your information, I love horror, in particular vampire stories although I have been an avid reader of Stephen King, Dean Koontz and James Herbert for many years. I also enjoy fantasy like Raymond E Feist's series The Magician and Daughter of The Empire. And not forgetting the amazing Stephen Donaldson with his wonderful adventures of Thomas Covenant.

A) depict realistic, messy, imperfect characters

Or

B) have anything to do with nature or the wild

Favourite singers/bands are FT Island, One Ok Rock, Big Bang, My Story, Pay Money for my Pain, Perfume, Sekai No Owari, Sodagreen,

Eccentric. Slightly zany. Lover of Yaoi stories ( no matter how bad or good they are, to me they are important because they show how much you love your story to share....thank you so very much.)

Lover of K drama's, J drama's, C drama's, T drama's. I have seen about 240 or so. Currently watching about 19 atm and constantly " shipping" characters like you wouldn't believe.

Oh! Did I tell you I am not your average Yaoi writer?
Well, trust me, I'm not.

I prefer honesty, truth, and loyalty. I have a tendency to try and ignore keyboard warriors.

Why? Because I am a mother of five sons and I am homeschooling my two youngest. I am not ashamed at being a mum.

I don't understand why people have hangups against young people getting in touch with their sexuality. If anyone of my sons said that they know who they love and want to be with for the rest of their lives then who am I to interfere? It's not my life but theirs and amazing parents stand by their kids through thick n thin. No matter who they choose to love. That's the power of true love....acceptance.

Have noticed people are following me only to unfollow me once I have downloaded their stories.

Let's get thus straight. I write down who follows me to then dedicated a poem or chapter to them. If you want to unfollow then I can only reciprocate your behaviour back at you plus remove any and all of your works from my library.

I'm here to support amazing writers...not get used like that so don't bother playing games as I resent...with a passion...keyboard wannabes/warriors. I have no time to expend my energy in such a useless game.

To those who treat me fairly you have my undying loyalty...always!!!

Hey, all.

I'm just a person wandering around, reading stories, and telling some of my own. As a child I was known in my neighborhood for being the girl who fell out of trees a lot. Miraculously, I never broke a bone. But sitting up there at a height I was positive no one else had ever reached, something happened. I became a writer. I began to look for different perspectives to see the world, challenging my imagination to think of something even wilder.

Today, I'm still a little wacky like that, always stuck my own head. I write about sad things, and the good stuff too. I'm a sucker for the good stuff when it comes down to it. My days consist of pretending I still don't attempt to climb trees every now and then. Much of my time not spent ignoring the fact that I am not ten years old anymore is devoted to reading books, writing down the stories my imagination cannot contain, and watching movies.

Current non-Wattpad read: "Relatively" by Antonia Hayes

Current Wattpad read: anything and everything because I take reading requests!

If you are looking for a more emotional read with my works, they are: As They Fell, The December Children, The Congregation of Choke Berry Street, and How to Play with Matches.

And if you want something more light-hearted: The Verge of Everything, and Simply a Rose. How To Play With Matches also has a lot of sweet moments to balance out the sour.

Thank you. If I could write poetry, I'd end with a poem. But I can't, so I'll just close with "goodbye."

I am a writer in my heart and have been since I was 10 years old. I've been in love with words since I could speak them and that's a good 39 years. I love fiction and I love how the truth also gets wrapped up into it in such a way that allows the mind to see clearly every thing that is right and wrong with the world.

Writing has always been a healing thing for me, as well as an escape and if I happen not to like the world as it is - I rewrite it. LOL. I find that as I continue to write I grow as an author and as a reader and in all of this - a good and productive person. I love feedback, it can only help me get better as a writer and know what my readers are or are not connecting with.

Finally, I'd like to say - Much love to you all, writers! Keep doing it, the more we write, the more we are read and the more we are read - the less trouble is enacted in the street. I firmly believe we all have our roles to play on this earth and that words..have a huge impact on people. I ask that you, dear writer, keep writing, keep reading and keep going! Use your words as you would a Q-tip in your ear...make them feel good. So good your eyes roll back in your head from the pleasant experience. Make your words wholesome that we say as readers, I need my daily fill of *Your Name Here* and make them lasting, so that we can carry these stories with us and share them with others we come in contact with. Be Smart, Be Beautiful and for the love of everything concerning you - BE TRUE!

FOR I HAVE SINNED
A Cate Harlow Private Investigation
Best-selling new thriller by Kristen Houghton

"When you get to Hell I'll be sitting in the hot tub waiting." Cate Harlow

Private investigator Cate Harlow finds herself involved in two cases that seemingly have nothing to do with each other; she soon discovers they may be bizarrely connected. While working the cold case of a boy who went missing ten years ago, she receives an early morning call from her ex-husband, a homicide detective, informing her about a recent murder; the horribly mutilated body of a priest, wearing only a clerical collar has just been found off of Interstate 95 in New York. The murder is eerily similar to a troublesome and unsolved case that Cate worked on less than a year ago. The only difference between the two victims is that the second dead body has a hand-written message in Latin scrawled across the inside of the priestly collar; a message from Dante's Divine Comedy, "Abandon hope, all ye who enter here." With the priests' murders heavily on her mind, Cate's investigation into the missing boy leads her to the august office of a New Jersey.
FOR I HAVE SINNED

Advance review:
" A masterfully woven story about the horrors of the sex abuse scandals rocking the Roman Catholic Church and the impact on both victims and their families. PI Cate Harlow handles the case of a missing boy and a pedophile priest with a perfect combination of hard-nosed detective skills and compassion. "

Genres: Mystery/Thriller, Paranormal, Romance, Non-Fiction, Short Story, Adventure, General Fiction, Horror

Hi, I'm Evelyn and I like to experiment in different genres. I try not to take myself too seriously and my writing is usually littered with smart-arse jokes, but I'd wager I'm neither as clever or as funny as I think I am.

Not to blow my own trumpet or anything (I'm not that flexible, for starters) but my paranormal young adult horror WHO PUT BELLA IN THE WYCH ELM? won a WATTY. Which was nice.

But don't stop there. WIDER SEAS, the zombie-pirate historical adventure comedy mash-up with Pratchett-inflected humour is my biggest project. Give it a bash. Don't take it seriously!

In my bid for genre domination, there's also KING OF MIST, the recently featured, slightly more challenging, hugely trippy literary mystery quiz.

My brief foray into the dread-genre of romance is BURNT, a tale of music and enigmatic disappearances.

My two works exploring the Jonestown Massacre are the horror fiction shorts 918, and DOWN 918 RABBIT HOLES, a non-fiction account of the massacre and my efforts to write about it.

ELEOS HARRUMPHS, I suppose you could call fanfiction. A sequel to that tome to unrestrained capitalism Atlas Shrugged, set 30 years after and stretching those gapping plot holes to their logical conclusion.

SHORTS AND ALL is a collection of some short stories I've written, such as ESCAPE FROM THE LABYRINTH, a sequel to the 80's Bowie film. And TIBBLES, a story written from the perspective of the Stephen's Island Wren (yes, really).

All my work is Ad Free. Enjoy. Don't enjoy. Whatever. Just remember; the Zombie King is only sleeping.

A bit about me...

After a good portion of my life spent writing test papers, research papers, magazine articles, newspaper columns, travel porn, threatening letters, letters of apology, press releases, public statements, marginalia, footnotes, excuse notes, dismissal notes, music notes and resumés, I have finally returned to writing fiction and to perhaps finish the novel that I began almost 30 years ago, back in the dark ages before the Internet.

I am here to share my love of language and imagination with you. My stories will hopefully challenge you to think, to feel and, perhaps, you will respond in some fashion. I aspire to create meaningful, theme-driven tales that draw upon the rich tradition and conventions of our wonderful literary heritage, yet with a contemporary flare.

If you enjoy thoughtful and mature storytelling, please vote, share or comment. After all, it is only through reader responses that independent writers will continue to be challenged to create.

I hope to hear from you,

-BG

When not writing deeply-researched historical-fantasy novels set in the Dark Ages, I read in many genres, work logic puzzles, draw caricatures, support my local branch of the SCA (a medieval reenactment society), ply the ancient crafts of tablet-weaving and sprang netting, sew Halloween costumes for my grandchildren and period garb for myself, translate Norwegian folk songs into English, and practice on my Celtic harp, fipple flute (recorder), and langeleik (mountain dulcimer). In an earlier stage of life I was a computer programmer.

Once a year I compete in the local chalk art contest, visit the local kindergarten as Mother Goose (with ventriloquist puppet Goosey Gander), and sing alto in the Messiah. (On different days. Can't you just picture it, combining the three events?)

I'm a former member of the Pacific Northwest Writers Association, and placed high in their prestigious literary contest four times over the years. (Each time in the Final Twelve out of hundreds of entries, so close to an actual prize placement!)

I'm a refugee from the Amazon-sponsored (Amazon-abandoned) writers community WriteOn, where I gained many good friends/colleagues and delighted in participating in the weekend write in challenges. That was a great place to learn to write flash fiction, which I've been posting on my blog "Wildwood Wandering."

I'll soon also be posting the cream of that crop in my quarterly online newsletter "Banners In The Mist," which until now has featured around-the-world "current events" news articles from particular years in the past.

Why the change? I don't have time now to research those Dark Ages "current events." I just launched into writing the last novel in a 5-book historical-fantasy series.

Born during World War Two on Canada's east coast, I joined the Air Force after school and trained as a pilot, moved to the west coast and discovered mountains. Made a name for myself as an exploratory mountaineer, then restless, I transferred to the Navy to captain ships. Still restless, I resigned my commission to pursue my hobbies and passions, becoming a wine and food writer and educator and Canada's chief coin geek. Restless again, I sailed off and rounded Cape Horn. Twice.

The past few years I've been living aboard Zonder Zorg, a restored 1908 Friesian skûtsje, as I explore the European canals trying to sort out what I'll do when I grow up. Meanwhile, I've gone back to writing, and after four nonfiction books on boating, I've turned to fiction.

I am fascinated by the long view of what makes us human--those survival related things we do each day and night that distinguish us from the beasts of nature and yet keep us tied to them.

Physical anthropology tells us we've been here on the Blue Planet for over 4 million years--(that's 80,000 lifetimes stacked one on the other). And guess how many of those lives we spent in caves? 60,000. Three quarters of our existence!

It explains a lot. That we still carry around our "cave thinking" today. Things like aggression, lust, hunger, and awe. All behaviors we try to justify in context with this technological world we have created. I am charmed that we are such inventors but perplexed that we remain lower than the angels.

I write a lot of stuff--novels, short stories, poetry, essays--it's become my passion.

The name "Califia" is just one extension of who I am. For those of you who are interested, she was a literary character from a Medieval Spanish romance--created around 1510 as an "Amazon queen."

Califia was supposed to have ruled an island somewhere on the uncharted side of the "terrestrial paradise" (the New World). The early explorers knew her story well and were lustfully attracted to her as a muse. They dreamed of her as they sailed across the seas, and that is why they put her name on the first western maps of the unknown world: "California"--Latin for "Califia's land."

Enjoy my tales.

I'm a Wattpad Community Ambassador and also work for Wattpad as a Community Associate. So if you have any questions or need help, don't hesitate to ask!

I help to manage the howtousewattpad account, and I highly recommend their guides which are chock full of how-to's for just about everything Wattpad related.

I'm a married mom of 2 girls, both in their 20's. They're the coolest people I know and I love them both very much.

I like all kinds of music, but mostly listen to electronic dance music.

I knit, crochet, and even make my own yarn on a spinning wheel.

I have two dogs, who are my at-home children now. I also have a cat, who barely acknowledges our existence, except when she brings us still-alive rodents.

I love to read young adult and new adult, and I'm a sucker for romance. They're also my favorite genres to write. I have a thing for fountain pens and spiral bound notebooks. Actually, it's more of an addiction.

I'm on Pinterest, AND I have an inspiration board for The Boy in the Woods as well as The Man Inside the Iron Fence. I also have an impressive collection of knitting related posts.

My husband is on here blaisejoseph He's awesome, of course.

⭐️⭐️⭐️I'M SUPER BUSY THESE DAYS WITH MY AMBASSADOR DUTIES, WRITING, EDITING, AND TRYING TO READ ALL THE STORIES MY FRIENDS ARE WRITING. FOR THAT REASON, PLEASE DON'T ASK ME TO READ YOUR STORY BECAUSE I WON'T BE ABLE TO. THANK YOU⭐️⭐️⭐️

Welcome to Sir Rob's Castle!
Before any of you start wondering whether you've landed on an aristocrat's profile - not really. Sir Rob is just a nickname given to me by my inventive readers because of my passion for writing historical stories (featuring feisty ladies, fearless knights, adventure, romance and a healthy dose of humor!)

In real life I'm not a brave knight, but a humble aspiring author and historian from the sunny South of Germany, where I live among the cows, spaetzels and swabians. Despite not being a native English speaker, I try to write English stories because I simply LOVE the language. I appreciate any feedback, since I'm trying to improve! :-)

The funny brown thing on my profile picture is a helmet I wear 24/7, not because I'm a cycling enthusiast, but to protect my literary skull in which a rather important bone has been missing from birth :-)

Hello Writers/Readers,

I have been enamored with all things that go "bump in the night" for who knows how long. Finding humanity and beauty in some of the most seemingly unconventional places is part of the romantic psyche to me. I enjoy reading other fantasy novels and writing in my spare time. I have a lot of projects on my plate and want to create interesting characters for readers.

There's something intriguing about strong women finding love in all the "wrong" places in the world of fantasy. Of angels, demons, ghosts, wolves and your occasional blood sucker, all these paranormal metaphors are catalysts of what humans are and crave most...that we're all different, beautiful and a little bit weird--and just want someone to love us for what we are.

My influences are Sherrilyn Kenyon, Gena Showalter, Kresley Cole and the late great author, L.A. Banks.

All stories here are DRAFTS. There will be typos, grammar and other editing tasks to be completed. Editing happens when I prepare for publication, which costs money :)

TALL, DARK & DEADLY available now on AMAZON!

I will aim to update my all of my works at least once a week, so please follow for updates!

I write humor, romance and urban fantasy and all of my works have mature content either for language and/or sexual content, so please be advised.

I do NOT do "follow 4 follow" because I may not necessarily read or want to follow your work. Sorry.

I'm a big supporter of the afterdark community and offer reading requests for Mature romance writers since it is hard to get such content read by the Wattpad community.

I'm a published author, creator, and tv producer.

My brand new project is called LOOKING GLASS, a historical thriller about the origins of Alice in Wonderland. It's not for the faint of heart.

I've also written a science fiction adventure called STAR PRESSED. It's a space-faring tale about family; think LOST IN SPACE meets FIREFLY.

My first book series is called METAWARS, a high-tech YA thriller about two teenagers swept up in the battle for control over the internet. The books are published in paperback by Hachette, and the entire 1st book (of four) is here on wattpad! Think: MISSION IMPOSSIBLE meets THE MATRIX.

Recently, my YA thriller, KEEPING THE BEAT, with Marie Powell, published in the USA/Canada from KCP Loft.

I also have a funny series out called MEMOIRS OF A NEUROTIC ZOMBIE (from Faber). It's very funny and a bit gross. I've put the first few chapters from the first two books on wattpad as well. Think: ADRIAN MOLE meets SHAUN OF THE DEAD.

I joined wattpad to try out some new ideas, share my stories, meet creative people, and have some fun.Love from London,

Jeff :)
