Chapter Two

---------------
Peril's apitite has grown vigorously since her egg got saved by Stonemover, and she found herself a little more emotional than usual. She often craved things she normally disliked, like jazzberries and lizards. She even caught herself wondering what cactus tastes like, but deciding against eating such a thing. She's trying to stay on a normal diet but her cravings get more and more intense, even for the crazy stuff like lion meat. Even Clay thought it was a bit bizarre.

She huffed as she looked through their selection of meat, searching for something that didn't make her want to gag. Peril felt a little bad that she's so picky now but it can't be helped. Her eyes lightened up as she scanned over the slightly dried selection of seal meat, and she quietly wondered how they even got it as she reached for a big, appetizing peice of the somewhat strange option. It sizzled and hissed in between her squeezing talons as she carefully took a nibble, to be met with a surprisingly delicious and unique taste as she devoured that chunk of great meat.

Peril's hunger was finally smothered down a bit, but now she's weirdly thirsty and her wings feel clamped up. She spread her cramped wings out like an eagle and grabbed a small cup of water, feeling it mostly vaporize into a fine gas as it ran down her surprisingly dry throat. Peril watched as Glory came into the room and boredly grabbed a branch full of plump blueberries. They both simple stood by idly as they did their own thing, not really planning to do much of anything else.

Glory left the room wordlessly and Peril did the same, only to get buried in questions by Clay. She knows he means no harm but after a while it gets a little annoying. He always worried about her and her egg's wellbeing, and she'll admit, it IS kinda sweet but it's not like they'll get into any immediate danger inside their own living quarters. Barely anyone would dare to even think of entering past their doors, and probably nobody thinks of hurting the dragons that live inside it.

Just as she finished that thought, a pair of scavengers ran fearfully into the hallway, glancing fearfully at the pair of dragons, then running the opposite direction as Sunny came running and yelling for them to wait for her. Sadly, stuff like this is pretty common and Peril is now used to weird events like this. To be honest, it could've been worse. Like that time when Tsunami sleep walked and called everyone a 'two faced sqid brained peice of sponge-coral', whatever that means.

Sunny had been trying to keep them as pets, no doubt. Peril has no clue why she'd want such a weird creature as a pet, but that's none of her buisness. Sunny can do what she wants, no matter how weird as long as it's not harmful to herself. Clay looked at Peril, then down the hall, then back at Peril. All she could do was shrug and chuckle a bit, at a loss for a logical exclamation.

~A few years later~

She had given birth to a surprisingly healthy egg, and she made sure to dedicate every second of her time she could taking care of it. Peril made sure to get Stonemover's advice, if she should touch the egg or not, or what to expect, and he said it should be safe. In the end, the child should have much more fire than she and the child should have a very unique coloring. Peril made sure to angle it properlly, make sure it's warm enough to survive, check for any early cracks, and even sleep around the nest that it stays in.

Even Thorn is surprised about how protective and possessive Peril is over the egg, normally this type of behavior is started at a dragonet's hatching. Peril's warm blue eyes watched the progressively warming egg intently as the early morning's crisp air wafted around them and the lukewarm sunlight shone on her child like a gem, a gem that her child surely is. She would make sure to give her little wildfire a chance to have a childhood, and a nice, safe way to live.

Her house-mates are thinking of starting a school in jade mountains, to attempt absolute peace among all the dragon tribes. She had given her word of agreement, maybe her child can attend it? Only time will tell. Peril caressed the delicate egg lovingly, basking in the golddish-silver colored egg's beauty as she happily watched over it. She knows it's unneeded, maybe even a little dumb, but she's much too paranoid that something horrible will happen to her precious child. Maybe it'll get stolen by a jealous dragon, or crushed by a feind, or it'll hatch without her....

Peril huffed upsetidly as Glory called her, demanding her to eat. Didn't she see that her egg is much more important than food? Clay came into the room, knowing that Peril wouldn't leave if someone wasn't looking after her newly-layed egg. As she reluctantly left he couldn't help but to gawk a bit at its gorgeous and unique coloring as he curled around it, his underbelly warming quickly at the near-contact. Peril and Clay have become so close, people would often assume that the egg was his and that the two of them were mates.

While Clay wouldnt mind that if that was true, he kinda wishes it was, now they have an egg to care for. He can't help but to adore the egg, even if it's not even hatched yet. He knows for certain that it brings some of the best out of his crush. Normally, a dragon would stop loving a dragon who had children with someone else, but his feelings hadn't changed a bit. He knows it isn't normal, but then again, when was he ever? He's determined to help her through this at all costs, and he wouldn't mind fathering the child that he's quite fond of, even before it even hatched. Maybe they could become a family.
