Autumn was no more than six years old, when she had shown her first signs of magic. 

It is fact that just because you are the daughter of a witch does not guarantee that you will be able to cast spells. Some girls will be born with a natural knack for it, while others will have to search and find their connection later in life. Still others would never be able to cast spells and would live out normal human lives.

Caelestis had been born with a very strong connection to magic, and had high marks in witchery. So, she had expected her daughters to be the same.

Her first born, Lavender, showed signs of magic early on.

But the second-born twin didn't right away. Caelestis didn't worry about it. She knew the law about twins - if they both have magic before the age of ten, they must be separated until fifteen. Twins are forbidden to cast spells together until they have exited their teen years.

So, when August showed magic, Caelestis had no other choice but to separate her daughters. She also knew that because of the earlier development, Lavender would have a stronger knack for magic than Autumn. It was just how magic worked, the longer you had it the stronger you could be. With this, she kept the younger sister, Autumn, to help aid her in her learning of magic and all of it's wonders.

Caelestis had to say good bye to her daughter before the girls' seventh birthday. Lavender was brought through a mirror to the ulternate dimension.

Just if Autumn had never shown her magic, she would have her sister. Her mother would be able to have a family... But because of her selfishness all of that was taken away.
