Chapter 16
Idris Point of View
In the middle of lush forest, with expanse of greenery everywhere one could see. Breeze, as cool and soothing as a spring delight; sky as pleasant and clear as a child's heart; water springs as pure and sweet as petals of blooming white rose.
Such peaceful, beautiful and calming place is what any man would ask for as a holiday.
Including me!
Just me and no one else. I want to be here and just stay away from noisy people from and around me, including my family.
How good it would be!
How relaxing it would be!
"Idris, are you sleeping with your eyes open? Like a fish?" And just like that, I was shaken out of my dream.
The place is true, the feeling is true; just that I am not alone here as per my beautiful dream.
I am right now surrounded by every such person who I want to stay away from for a while.
My eyes landed on the loud scolding I received just now and saw that mom took off her footwear and shook it before me threateningly.
"You are asked something; why are you zoning out at such an important time?" Mom scolded again.
It was then that my head was cleared off from the final strands of haze. And that was when I realized that this is really happening. I was literally tied up and brought here!
My wedding... it is really happening.
Right now!
Right here, in a lush bamboo forest that my family owns, with some kind of themed decorations that seems to be a merge of bohemian, Egyptian and something else, on an elegant looking pavilion that was made just for wedding, I am standing in front of a very stupidly smiling demon girl who is wearing a wedding dress that looks like a tribal ritual dress yet, somehow resemble a normal wedding dress as well.
The demonic amulet girl, nonetheless, looks truly amazing, wearing gilded ivory gown with hand-embroidered tribal patterns down the sides in rich gold and emerald threads. With a blend of the softness of Boho with the sharp elegance of Egyptian opulence. The flowing sheer sleeves are reminiscent of ancient royal robes, but the delicate feathered details add a modern bohemian touch.
The gown cascades into a full, dramatic skirt, made of layered chiffon and silk, each layer shifting between deep earth tones and subtle metallics like copper and bronze. These shades mirror the earth and sun, drawing inspiration from the desert and the bamboo forest that surrounds the ceremony.
She is wearing a delicate gold headpiece adorned with emerald and onyx stones, giving her a regal, yet earthly, air. Her golden gladiator sandals are customized with tiny beaded tassels that jingle as she walks—adding an earthy rhythm to her elegant stride.
In one word, ignoring her naturally present demonic aura, she looks more goddess than a real goddess.
I would hate to say this out but just a look at her would make a man salivate for eternity. She is that graceful, that gorgeous and a vision of sacred elegance.
Sigh! If only she was a normal human being!
If only... haa!
The officiant, just at the right time, cleared his throat and spoke in a stern tone.
"Idris Cruz Valen, today you stand before the love of your life, ready to make a promise that will shape your future together. As you look into her eyes, as you pledge to be her partner, her protector, and her best friend; Please repeat after me –"
For one last time, with a fleeting yet a strong hope surging inside me, I looked at everyone who is attending the wedding.
Mom, dad, Kaiya, Cyrus, Liana, Luca, my Novorro relatives, my grandparents, my friends, demon girl's friends; everyone; each looking as amazing and astounding as the other!
With a pleading gaze, I looked at everyone and not-so-surprisingly, none were ready to consider my pleas. They ignored me and my silent pleas and instead encouraged me with hollering celebration to continue the wedding with a happy smile.
Ah, this is my family!
These are the people who caused me to be born and who are also causing me to live with brain damage in the future.
So, this is how family is.
So, this is what family is.
So, this is it?!
"I, Idris Cruz Valen, take you, Zephyra Quinn Virelle, to be my wife,
and I promise to love you in a way that strengthens us both,
through every joy and every challenge that life may bring.
I vow to stand by you not just in the moments of ease, but in the difficult ones,
to learn with you, grow with you, and build a future with you—one step at a time.
I will listen to you with patience, speak to you with kindness,
and honor you with a love that is constant and true.
I give you my heart, my soul, and my unwavering commitment,
to be your partner, your confidant, and your greatest support, today and always."
I repeated the officiant's words, just mumbled them casually without putting any weight in my voice. But since there is a small mic clipped on our wedding dress, the mumble was thankfully loud enough for everyone's satisfaction.
"Idris Cruz Valen, having spoken your vows, do you take Zephyra Quinn Virelle as your wife, to love and cherish her, in good times and bad, in sickness and in health, for as long as you both shall live?" Hey, why should you ask this so many times?
I already forced out those vows; didn't I?
"If I say no, would we end this?" Before the officiant or demon girl react, a hard lady's sandal hit me square on my face.
That moment, that very second, I didn't have to turn around to see who it is because in the whole world, only one person dares to hit me with her footwear any time and any place.
My kind and caring mom!
"Is this the time to joke? Give an apt reply to what is asked. Talk nonsense and see what will happen to you." That warning was enough to set me straight for few minutes.
I could only give up on my futile efforts and grit out 'I do' before I get another and harder slap by my mom's sandal.
It's still fine if it's just a sandal, if mom replaces with a stiletto, then I will be done for in this life. That is so damn painful and scary.
Although I did not get hit by her high heels for many times, those twentyish times were pretty terrifying and hurting.
Eesh!
Surprisingly, demon girl was acting very normal like a normal human being all the time during wedding. As per the officiant's instructions, she repeated her own vows and finished it off with an enthusiastic 'I do'.
Amidst everyone's applause, hooting and hollering, the wedding reached to the point of inevitable.
The kiss!
With the auspicious – bleh – permission from the officiant, the groom and bride are pushed to kiss each other.
Pushed – literally!
I don't know who it was but before I could think of and decide to peck just her forehead, someone pushed me from behind.
Pushed in such a way, with such a force, in such an angle, with such precession that I slipped and fell right into demon girl's arms.
And my lips landed right on hers.
Uh huh, more precisely, in her gaped mouth.
Before I know what was happening, without knowing, unintentionally or partly intentionally on her end, we licked and tasted each other's mouth.
When our lips met, it felt like the world imploded — no, exploded. It was as if the universe had cracked open, and I was suddenly floating among stars, weaving through constellations, each kiss pulling me deeper into a galaxy of light and fire.
Her lips were the spark that ignited it all, and I found myself lost in the vastness, drifting among sparkling, blinding stars, the edges of reality slipping away. Every inch of me was alive, like I was both weightless and consumed by a force I couldn't quite understand but didn't want to escape. It wasn't just a kiss — it was the entire cosmos folded into a single moment.
Something in me was telling me to pull back while the same 'something' is pushing me more into it. My mind failed to work for cosmos knows how long as I delved into the current affairs activity.
As her lips moved against mine, the very air around me shimmered, swirling into something more than just sensation —
It was magic!
My pulse quickened, every beat sending ripples through the fabric of time itself. I felt as if I were sinking into an ocean of starlight, each wave of her kiss pulling me deeper, farther, into a space I never knew existed. It was as though I was floating through an endless nebula, my every thought and every breath lost among the stars.
Her kiss tasted like the first light of dawn, soft yet blazing with untold power, and with every second, I was consumed — drowned by her warmth. Surprisingly!
The kiss – was hot, sweet and of course, full of healthy saliva.
And in that moment, I knew, without a doubt, that I was done for.
