Zephyra Point of View

"Oh right!" Kaiya, my soon-to-be elder sister-in-law, gasped, catching everyone's attention.

"What is it?" Dad, although my soon-to-be father-in-law – he insisted being addressed in that way, asked.

"We even forgot to ask you; Zephy, would you like to marry my boring brother and bring life into his life?" And so, everyone looked at me with amazingly intense anticipation, waiting for my answer.

To be very honest, this came out to be a surprise to me as well. This was supposed to be a simple dinner date with a just-friend's family. Now, it turned out to be a matchmaking meeting wrapped with chopped blind date and sliced confirmations.

A whole wedding dumpling that I was not prepared for.

But...

"Beggars cannot be choosers." I shrugged with a sigh before continuing. "However, Valen Bud and I only met four times in total and you also don't know much about me so..." I trailed off shyly waiting for the others to understand the meaning of my unfinished words.

The only reason I am positive about this marriage is the Valen family.

If I were to marry someone in the future, why not Valen bud who has such amazing and adorable family?

For so many people I can still tolerate the odd thumb out and marry him.

Who knows... maybe in future, we might truly fall in love with each other!

Who knows... maybe in future, he might truly understand me!

Who knows... maybe in future, he might truly understand my profession!

And who knows... maybe in future, I might be his oxygen pipe and he might be my carbon dioxide I let out!

"What little Zephy said makes sense. Such a sensible and humble girl, even if Idris searches for her with a disco light, he cannot find." Mom laughed pleasantly as she patted my back with a motherly and elderly sentiment which I loved so much.

"In that case, since we are here today, let's know more about you - young couple and the families as well." With confirmation from mom, it was Kaiya who introduced the whole Valen family, their background, occupation and everything with every now and then interruptions from everyone.

Fifteen minutes later, the main course plate is emptied and the Valen introduced was completed too.

Then it was my turn to introduce myself, talk about me, my family and more about my life.

You see, Valen family has a long history of power and money but what about me? I do come from a tribe with a literally long history dated to ancient times and we also do have some power; however, it is not the influential type power.

About money, after hearing the list of their assets and income, I realized my income and bank statement is not glittery enough.

Yiyaa! Although my money is not to Valen's status; I realized that my family history is richer and more prominent than theirs.

Should I just boast about it or should I make it sound modest?

I can tell them the modest version but as a person who has immense love and pride for my tribe and family heritage, I cannot help myself boast.

Thinking about it, since they are so fixated on taking me as their daughter-in-law and since I like the family too – hmmm, let's just present the truth without any makeup.

"It all started nine thousand four hundred and third five years ago when people use to live as different tribes – there was a tribe which has a power of seers, the powerful, the righteous, the honored and the most loved. The Virellith Tribe." If only there are drums, violin and a mouth organ!

It would be perfect with some background music and some really good elevation drum beats.

I looked around and scanned through everyone's expressions. As expected, they are intrigued and fascinated.

Hmph, this is only the start. I only told you my tribe's name! After I tell you all my tribe's greatness, I'm worried you all will insist that Idris and I get married this very moment.

"Everyone in the tribe has the same surname; we are all one huge family, one huge clan with main and branch families. Virelle, my surname came from Virellith after going through thousands of years of changes. At that time, Virellith tribe is greatly valued by all other tribes not only because of our abilities but also because of our sustained harmony. We used to be the pacifiers and peacemakers of that time."

Talking about the greatness of my ancestors, I can almost feel my eyes leaking with nostalgia and pride.

"How do you know about the matters of thousands of years ago? I think there were no written scripts at that time to file the history?" Valen bud scoffed. "Just boasting and storytelling; nothing else."

Hearing what he said, I did not feel angry but I felt sad for him. I am sad because he is sour about my great ancestral history.

He is sour about the greatness of my family. I can tell just by how the strands of hair standing on his head that he is jealous.

Jealous of me and my Virellith tribe!

"Of course, it is passed down till date by oral traditions and picture scripts. After writing came into existence, Virellith ancestors of that time wrote down everything they know and was told about, making a log for future generation references. Anyways, my tribe not only cured people but also solved many natural catastrophes with the skill we are blessed with. Many a times, it was the warning from our tribe that saved people from being victimized in several man-made and natural disasters. We have the ability of divination, making charms and amulets along with ability of divine healing."

"That is so awesome!" Liana and Luca exclaimed with applause followed by.

They looked so fascinated that I know they believed every single truth and fact I told them just now.

It is not just them but the whole Valen, Navarro and Storm families looked very much amazed.

Yes, that is my family and tribe!

That is Virelle!

"Why didn't you tell me this before? I was misunderstanding and misjudging you this whole time!" Valen Bud, you now understand, right? You now know what an excellence I am!

I was about to accept his almost apology and show him my magnanimity when he continued. "I say, you better leave all these unscientific charms thing and pursue your second profession which you are obviously better at."

He was very serious when he said that, that I don't even know what he is talking about.

"Huh? My second profession? What is it?" I blinked.

Is there something I'm better at than divination and amulet-making?

"Storytelling, of course. Look at you, what a fine and talented storyteller you are. Why don't you pursue this instead of – sigh!" Seriously?

"I am telling a story, yes. But it is a story of truths and facts. It is a story of reality, a memoir and history. It is a story of Virellith, known for its power and passion."

"Well said. Well said." Everyone other Valen Bud clapped their hands and mumbled unanimously.

And I can tell that they believe me. I can tell that they truly like my origins and I'm very grateful for it.

"My parents followed the tradition of my tribe and so am I. My parents are no longer in this world; when I was about three years old, they passed away and from then on, I was raised in the Eclipsenook Sanctuary, an establishment to take care of orphans of special tribes and families like mine. Via, Oreo and I, all grew up in that orphanage. Mom, dad and other lovely people, that is a small snippet about me and my family history. I know my family is not that as yours so –"

"What are you talking about. We all absolutely love you and your tribe and your history too." Dad interrupted and affirmed me.

"Right. Now let me tell you, if Idris were to marry someone, it should be you and only you. Otherwise – hmph!" Mom said while shooting a deadly glare at Valen Bud who seems to be questioning himself about something.

Mom and dad are so good. Kaiya, Liana, Luca; just everyone is so good.

"Thank you. I'm so grateful that you like my background too." This time, I played some modesty and blushed a little because looks like the match is fixed and I will be marrying soon.

Of course, for a twenty-year-old girl like me who never had a boyfriend, never had a kiss or a romantic hug but always had Disney romance dreams, marriage is a blushy thing.

"It's fixed then. Idris and Zephyra will be holding their wedding soon. We will check for the next auspicious day play the wedding drums as soon as possible." Mom decided.

"Mom, why so hurry? Let her complete her graduation, do a job and stand up for herself in society first." Valen Bud shot up from his chair and reprimanded mom.

"Are you going to stop her from studying, doing a job and pursuing her career?" She asked seriously to which Valen Bud shook his head.

"Then what is the problem with following the passion after getting married? After the knot is tied, you, as her husband, can give her unlimited encouragement and support legally. Alright, don't be so sappy and just prepare yourself for the grand wedding to come. I want your guest list by tomorrow night; everything else, leave it on me and the family."

And so, except for the wedding date, everything is fixed and almost arranged as well in less than half an hour.

Who would've thought that just a week after that simple dinner with Valens, I would be married into their family!

What a sudden yet beautiful turn of events that even I couldn't divine!
