Chapter 8
Hey guys! So we got testing going on, so this may be the only chapter I post until, like, Friday. Sry about it. Also, RainbowDrawz, pls don't kill me. I already died inside making this. (Also, I know NOTHING about medical stuff, so if it doesn't make sense, I'm sry)
Laff woke up the next morning, sitting up. He felt drowsy for some reason. He thought he was hearing a voice, but couldn't understand it. His head started spinning, and he lay back down, thinking that he was just getting up too early. Suddenly, the voice became clear. "LAFF, WAKE UP!" Laff sat up, suddenly awake. "What, what happened?!" But L4FF stopped talking. In fact, he couldn't sense him anymore. He looked at his hands, and to his horror, both of them were flesh. Something was wrong with L4FF. "Oh, no no no no no." Laff whispered. He got out of bed, and was trying to reach L4FF. "C'mon, where are you?" Laff whispered. Suddenly, he felt L4FF come back, and the metal spread around half of him. Laff could feel the fear and shock that L4FF was feeling. "What just happened?" "I don't know, I felt like I was fading away! I felt like...I was dying." Laff felt a shiver go down his back. How could that be happening? "But the thing is...I think you were dying too." Laff felt his heart race. "No, not possible." He felt everything spinning out of control, everything falling apart. "Laff!" L4FF's voice was far away now. Laff couldn't handle anything, it was falling apart. Falling apart. He suddenly fell and hit his head, and everything went black.
...
"Laff, come on man." someone said. He couldn't breathe, couldn't focus. Everything was still black. "We're losing him again!" someone said. He felt everything disappear again.
...
He heard a beeping sound next to him. It was a steady beat, but for some reason he felt worried about it. His eyes fluttered open, and he saw a white ceiling above him. It felt familiar. Where was he? He heard a door open, and turned and saw Meme, worry in every part of his face. He saw that Laff was awake, and he ran over to him. "Oh God, are you okay?" Meme whispered, tears falling down his face. Laff was confused. He obviously was okay, right? Laff couldn't answer for some reason, so he just nodded. "Okay, oh God." Meme said. Laff was now confused more than ever. What happened? Why was Meme worried about him? Where was he? Fear began to fill him, and the beeping sound increased. "Breathe Laff, you're fine." Meme said. Laff turned and saw what was making the beeping sound. It was a heart monitor, and it was attached to his arm. He realized he was in Meme's medbay. He was beginning to panic, and the heart monitor beeped faster. "Laff, just chill." Meme said, but Laff didn't hear him. He needed answers. Meme ran over to a cabinet, and grabbed a syringe. "Sorry Laff." Meme whispered. He ran back over to him, and injected the syringe into him. Laff's heart began to slow down, and Laff felt himself falling asleep. "Just wait and rest Laff. Just wait." Meme said, and Laff drifted back into the darkness.
...
Laff opened his eyes again, and found himself back in the medbay. It was nighttime now though. He sat up, his head spinning. "Mate?" His heart skipped a beat when he heard L4FF. "Don't talk yet. You've been asleep for a while." Laff nodded. But what had happened? "...You went into cardiac arrest." Laff felt everything stop. Time froze. Cardiac arrest? How? "Mate, chill. They managed to come and help you." L4FF said. Laff felt the world tipping. Everything started moving fast, everything falling apart again. "LAFF!" L4FF yelled, and Laff felt everything stop again. His heart rate had increased again. "Please, don't make me regret telling you. I tried to take control and spare you the pain, but I couldn't for some reason. I couldn't take you out for some reason. I'm sorry." Laff could sense that he was telling the truth, and that touched him. He lay back on the pillows, unsure of what to do. He realized that the reason he couldn't exactly talk was because he had a weird mask on his face, not his gas mask. He thought two things at once. First, was that this mask was helping him breathe, and two, was where his gas mask was. His gas mask was his most prized possession. "Meme has it mate, for when you're ready to leave this place." Laff sighed with relief. It was safe. He closed his eyes, and tried to remember what happened. He was waking up, then what happened? L4FF was telling him something. What? He couldn't remember. He sighed. But how did he go into cardiac arrest? He wasn't someone who had a high risk for it. Suddenly, the door opened again, but Meme wasn't alone. Socks was with him this time, and saw that both of them were worried. "Laff." Socks said, and ran over to him. Meme came over too, but was unsure of how Laff would react to everything. Laff was so glad to see his friends. He didn't know how long he had been out, but he knew it must've been a long time. "How you doing?" Socks asked. Laff shrugged his shoulders. He wasn't exactly sure. Meme grabbed the mask on his face, and pulled it off. "Oh thank God." Laff said. He sat up, and Socks gave him a big hug. "We were so worried about you." Socks said. "Yeah. I don't remember anything that led to this." Laff said. Meme reached into a small bag he had brought, and pulled out his gas mask. "Don't wear this yet. I don't want to risk it." Meme said. Laff nodded, and grabbed his mask. It was safe in his hands again, and he sighed with relief. "What happened anyway?" Laff asked. "Well, I was going to check in on you, and when I opened the door, I just saw you laying on the floor, not moving. When I checked your pulse, I felt nothing. I yelled for help, and a few people heard me. We got you on the bed and started doing CPR. I grabbed an AED and started to use it. Your heart started beating again. But then it stopped again for some reason. We ended up doing it about 5 times before your heart still continued to beat. We brought you down here to the medbay, and we just watched you carefully." Meme said. Laff felt the world start to spin again. Everything was falling apart. "Laff!" Socks yelped. The world stopped spinning, and Laff felt everything stop. "Laff, your heart rate just went skyrocketing." Meme said. Laff turned and saw the heart monitor. The line went to the top, and had come back down. "I don't know what's happening. Everytime it falls apart, everytime." Laff whispered. "Laff, what's falling apart?" Socks asked. Laff felt like he knew the answer, but didn't know how to say it. "I don't know."" Laff said. Socks and Meme looked at each other. "I couldn't figure out why you went into cardiac arrest, but I'm going to try." Meme said. Laff nodded. He had gone to his quiet self again. Meme drew some blood to test it, and went off. Socks stayed behind with Laff. Laff closed his eyes, trying to forget about everything. Everything was broken, everything was falling, falling apart. He couldn't stop it from falling apart. Suddenly, everything went black.
...
Laff gasped awake, and everything came back to him when it went black. Socks looked up, and relief filled his face. "Oh man." Socks sighed. The mask that helped him breathe was back on his face. "As soon as Meme left, your heart rate skyrocketed, then dropped to the bottom and stayed there. I panicked at first, but it slowly began to beat again. Meme came back, told him what happened, and we put the mask on you. Meme doesn't want you to leave yet. He wants to see if he can find anything in the blood tests." Socks said. Laff felt everything begin to fall apart again. "Laff, stop." Socks said. Laff took a sharp breath, and everything stopped. He needed time to just freeze. "Laff, I need to know what the hell is going on. Just tell me anything you know." Socks begged. Laff couldn't talk, but even if he could, and wanted to, he didn't even know himself. Everything was just falling apart, falling apart. "Laff!" Socks yelled. Laff jumped at Socks yelling. Socks noticed that, and regretted yelling. "Sorry. I...I'm just worried about you." Socks said softly. Laff nodded. He took the mask off, and Socks tensed up. "Everything, not anything specific...just everything...it's...falling apart. Nothing is making sense." Laff said. Socks didn't understand exactly what he meant, but had an idea of what he was saying. "What's it like? Do you see anything?" Socks asked. "No." Laff said. He put his head in his hands. "What the hell is going on with me?" he whispered. Tears started to fall, and Socks sat next to him. He didn't say anything, just sat there. L4FF was also there too, in his head. Just the presence of his friends made him feel better. "Laff...I don't know how to help you, but I'm ready to help you every step of the way." Socks said. Laff pulled his hands away, and a tiny smile appeared on his face. "Thank you." he whispered. Socks smiled. Suddenly, the door banged open, and Meme came in, rage filling him. "I am going to kill that son of a bitch." Meme said. "What happened?" Socks said. "Blood test came back in, and in them was some weird metal, and they basically messed with his head. I didn't know what the hell it was, until I saw the tiny bit of obsidian." Meme said, and showed them a picture. In the red, they saw small pieces of metal, and one or two tiny pieces of purple. "The band." Laff said, and felt all the blood drain from his face. "That son of a bitch!" Socks yelled. Seth had planned this all along. "It's messing with your brain, making you think stuff that isn't actually happening. But there are some near your heart, which is concerning me. That must be the reason for the cardiac arrest. He must have a way that makes them make your heart rate rise, and the others are near his brain, messing with it." Meme said. Laff was now officially scared. He got up from the bed, ripped the IV out of his arm, and ran out of medbay. "LAFF!" Socks yelled. Laff just ran, running from everything. L4FF tried to stop him, but realized he couldn't take control again. Laff just ran. He ran into the woods, and the branches scratched his face and arms, but he still ran. He needed to run. He ran to the mountains, and started to climb. "Laff, what the hell is wrong with you, you'll get hypothermia!" L4FF said. Laff didn't hear him, and still climbed. He finally got to a small cave high in the mountain. He entered and covered the entrance with a shield. He sat in the darkness, letting it hide him. "Laff...are you okay?" Laff shook his head, tears falling down. L4FF didn't know what to do. He just let Laff know that he was there. Laff felt the cold bite his skin, but he ignored it. He just sat there, hoping that the darkness would swallow him. He might as well be considered dead. Seth messed with his mind. He couldn't let anything fall apart. Fall apart. He stayed close to the wall, letting the world in his head fall around him.
...Can I have a knife pls? I hate myself now. So Laff went into cardiac arrest, and at first, they didn't know why, then Meme found out that the band that was on him, it injected some weird stuff into him, which is messing with his mind and making his heart rate go VERY high. Then he ran to the mountains to hide. I know. Lame. If any of you want to count how many times I said "Falling apart and fall apart." Be my guest. See ya!
