Chapter 6
Hey guys! So, we have this new rule at school, which absoulutly pisses me off, but during guided study (where we do HW) and we're finished, we can't free draw or free write. So I am WAY BEHIND in book four. So I may not post as often, because ima trying to finish book 4. See ya!
Socks went to visit Laff. He hadn't talked to Laff since the lush cave, and he had been worried about him. He knocked on the door, but no one answered. He slowly opened the door, and saw Laff on his bed, eyes closed, and seemed to be thinking hard about something. "Laff?" Socks said. Laff's eyes shot open, and he looked at Socks. "Oh, hey Socks." Laff said. "You good? You seemed to be thinking hard about something." Socks asked, closing the door behind him. Laff suddenly felt uncomfortable. He sighed, and pulled off his gloves. They were metal. Socks felt shivers go up his spine. "Everything going okay?" Socks asked. "I guess. I'm just asking why he's helping us, but he won't give me a reason." Laff sighed, and put his gloves back on. "I won't tell anyone." Socks said. "Thanks." Laff said. "Anyway, um. Meme, Nadwe, Natalie, me and Zack got Seth and Sonja last night." Laff said, getting up from his bed. "Really? Is that why they left?" Socks asked. "Apparently. And...Natalie says that Zack and Sonja are lovebirds." Laff said, a smirk on his face. Socks stared at him. "That is going to be very interesting." Socks said laughing. "Yeah." Laff said. Laff sighed. "Everything just feels like a roller coaster right now. One moment, everything is fine, next thing you know, we end up in a near-death experience." "Sometimes, it feels like the norm." Socks said. Laff chuckled. Suddenly, the metal spread to his arms. "I think L4FF wants to talk." Socks said. Laff bit his lip. He didn't like it. But if L4FF wanted to talk, might as well. Laff sighed. "If you want to talk, you can." The metal shot up him, spreading all around him. He closed his eyes, and felt himself fade away. Socks felt uneasy, and when his eyes opened, L4FF spoke. "Didn't think he would let me." "He's just being cautious." Socks said. He nodded. "Fair enough." L4FF turned away, and went to the window. He looked outside, and felt...empty. "L4FF...why?" Socks asked. L4FF sighed. "I...don't know." Socks repressed a sigh. "What changed your mind? Why are you helping us?" Socks asked. "What changed my mind? Listen, I don't know why, I just want to help for some reason that I don't know." L4FF said. "Okay, I was just wondering." Socks said. L4FF sighed. "I didn't ask to be made. I just want to be able to live without being in Laff. He doesn't deserve it." Socks looked at L4FF, and saw someone who just wanted to be them. But couldn't seem to find themselves. "Hey. Maybe one day we'll find a way to set both of you free." Socks said. L4FF chuckled. "Not sure the others would like that." L4FF said. "You never know. You seem to be wanting to help us, so maybe that will change their minds too." Socks said. L4FF smiled, but only a tiny bit. "What's it like? When you're not in control?" Socks asked. "Not much. I sorta just stand there, and when someone is in control, they just stand there, not moving, or anything. When they come out of control, they're dazed at first, but then they realize where they are. And then...I take control." "How's Laff?" Socks asked. "Before, when I took over against his will, he would try and take back control, but now, I haven't heard a word from him. I just...I sometimes wish that I never existed." Socks was stunned. "Listen. Maybe we all got off the wrong way with you, but it doesn't mean that you can't try and fix it. Soon, maybe we can be friends." L4FF liked that thought. "Maybe. But I need to tell you something." Socks listened very carefully. "Two things. One is Nadwe. That vampire in him...it's going to go bad soon. You have to find a way for him to control it, or else he's going to turn someone else into a vampire." Socks felt his skin shiver. "But how? We have no idea what powers he has now. Except for super strength and power sucking hands." "The girl, she knows. She'll tell you." L4FF said. "Okay. What's the other thing?" Socks asked. L4FF hesitated for a second. "Chaos made me. He could easily fix my mind and make me go against you guys. So I may go dormant for your safety." Socks felt touched that he would hide to keep them safe. "Hey. Once Chaos is gone, we'll find a way to get you free." Socks said. L4FF smiled. "Thanks. I better get going. I don't want to stay in control too long. Make sure to help Nadwe, and stay safe." L4FF shut his eyes, and the metal faded away. Laff opened his eyes, a bit dazed. "Hey, you good?" Socks asked. "Um, yeah, I'm good." Laff said. He pulled his gloves off, and his hands were still metal. Socks was confused. "Um, me and L4FF don't exactly understand why it's like this, but it hasn't been affecting me or him, so I've just put gloves on for now." He put the gloves back on, sighing. "What did he talk about?" Laff asked. Socks then told him everything that he and L4FF talked about. Laff was mostly worried about Nadwe. "We can't have another incident. If all of us become vampires...I don't even want to think about it." Laff said. "He said that the girl, Sonja, would know. Makes sense cause he brought him back to life." Socks said. "Yeah. But I hope Chaos doesn't make him join him. Or else..." Laff exhaled, his breath shaky. He didn't want to feel the same way when L4FF took control against his will. He felt vulnerable. "Listen. L4FF promised us he would try to keep us safe. Something tells me that he won't go down without a fight." Socks said. Laff smiled a little. "Come on, let's go see Meme and how he's doing." Socks said. Laff agreed, and they both went to Meme's room. Socks knocked on the door, but no answer came. "Is he still sleeping? Or is he not here?" Laff asked. Suddenly, Nadwe opened the door. "Hey guys." Nadwe said. "Is Meme okay?" Socks asked, immediately worried. "Um, he just hit his head hard last night. Windraft caught him by surprise, and he hit his head on the wall. He's resting." Nadwe explained. "So why are you here?" Laff asked. Nadwe was now hesitating to answer. "Nadwe. What. Happened?" Socks asked slowly. "Uh...okay, fine. But this is between us, understand?" Nadwe said, finally breaking. Laff and Socks entered the room. Meme was asleep in bed. His face seemed strained, but other than that, he seemed fine. "What happened?" Socks asked. "Seth...he was trying to make him more vampire." Nadwe whispered. Both of them felt their skin prickle. "Is he okay?" Laff asked. "I think he's just...I don't know." Nadwe sighed. He suddenly became a bat. "Nervous habit now." Nadwe said, flying to Socks and landing on his shoulder. "What do you mean?" Socks asked. "Well, when I get nervous or anxious or scared, I change into a bat for some reason." Nadwe explained. Socks sighed. "I wish I could do more." Nadwe said. "I think we just need to wait to see how he does. After that, we'll go from there." Laff said, looking at Meme. Suddenly, Meme started to twist and turn. "Is he okay?" Nadwe asked, worry leaking in his voice. "I don't know." Socks said. Laff went over to Meme and started to shake him hard. "Meme, wake up!" Laff said. Meme's eyes shot up, and he sat up quickly. He was panting hard, and sweat dripped down his face. Nadwe flew into the air, and changed back to a human. He ran over to Meme, and grabbed him in a hug. "Nadwe." Meme said, and hugged Nadwe back. "I was so worried." Nadwe whispered. "I'm fine. I'm fine." Meme said, and suddenly zoned out. "Meme?" Socks asked. Meme snapped back to reality. "Yeah?" he asked. "Meme, what happened? You started twisting and turning in your sleep." Meme felt dizzy. What had happened? "I don't know. My mind's scrambled." Meme said, rubbing sleep from his eyes. "It's fine. We were just worried." Laff said. Nadwe felt anxious and worried, but he pushed the feelings aside. "Nadwe, I'm okay, I promise." Meme said. "I know, I'm just really...scared." Nadwe said. He then transformed into a bat, and sighed. Meme picked him up and held Nadwe close to him. "It's okay to be scared." Meme said softly. Nadwe snuggled close to Meme, and let his tears fall. Meme felt Nadwe's fear, and just wanted him to feel safe. "I don't understand what's going on, but it has something to do with Seth." Meme said. Laff felt rage fill him, and metal spread up his arms. Meme and Nadwe saw this, and felt fear go through them both. "It's okay. We're on good terms with L4FF." Socks said. Laff looked at his arms. "He's angry too." Laff mumbled. He sighed. "I'm going to go talk to him. See what he thinks." He left the room, leaving Socks and Meme and Nadwe alone. "He's just tired." Socks said. Meme nodded, and placed Nadwe on his shoulder. Socks sat on the bed with Meme. "When was the last time we had a normal day, without, you know, having Chaos in our minds?" Meme asked. "God, I think that was a while ago, if you don't count what happened after the wedding." Socks said. Meme chuckled. "What I would give to have him gone, all of this stupid shit, gone." Meme said. "Yeah. Me too." Socks said. They sat in silence for a while. Socks looked at Meme. His skin had gone a bit pale, his eyes were still black, but sometimes they mixed or were completely dark red. When he smiled, his fangs showed. His hair was messed up, and he wore a simple blue t-shirt, and white sweatpants. He had a few scars here and there, but none of them compared to the scars he had inside. Nadwe had changed back to human, and sat next to Meme. He still had his top hats, but he was skinny, and his skin was whiter than before, like a skeleton. His eyes were blood red still, and unknown to anyone, he had a scar over his heart, where the stake and the tentacle had stabbed him. He took a deep breath, as the memories flooded his head. Socks had seen changes in him himself. His light skin had gone pale, but not vampire pale. His hair was short, as he didn't want hair to get in the way of him fighting, and his eyes were dull, unlike before, where they were almost sorta copper. All of them had changed. Physically and mentally. "Will we ever have our normal lives back?" Nadwe asked. No one knew the real answer. "No. We won't." Socks said gravely. Nadwe and Meme both knew, even though they didn't want to believe it, that Socks was right. Their normal, fun filled lives before, they wouldn't be the same. Nadwe pulled his legs close to him and let his tears fall. Meme hugged him, giving him a sense of safety. Suddenly, Nadwe put his hands to his head, pain in his face. Socks immediately got out of the bed, close to the door. "Nadwe, breath." Meme said. Nadwe couldn't bear it, the wild thing inside him. "Make it stop, make it stop." he whispered. Socks wasn't sure if he should run or not. Suddenly, Nadwe opened his eyes, looked at Socks, and leapt after him. Socks tried to get out of the way, but he was too slow. Nadwe bit him on the shoulder, and began to suck blood. Meme ran over, and tried to pull Nadwe off, but Nadwe kicked Meme in the chest, knocking the wind out of him. Socks felt his heart beating faster, and his vision blurred. He fell to his knees, unsure of what to do. Suddenly, someone pulled them apart, and caught him before he fell. He wasn't sure who it was, but the last thing he saw was a metal hand.
So Laff and Socks are confused as to why L4FF is helping them, the Nadwe, Meme, and Socks talk, then Nadwe loses control and bites Socks. Welp. Well, see ya!
