Chapter Six

Natalie's P.O.V
I felt my nerves building up again as I looked in the mirror one last time. I actually gotten a bit dressed up for the date. I was wearing a purple tank top with black fingerless gloves, a black cardigan with the sleeves rolled up to my elbows, dark blue jeans, and black boots. I'd pulled my hair back into its ponytail, but I'd put on a dark blue hair clip.

My heart...it feels like it's going a million miles. I took a deep breath and stared into the mirror again. "Tonight's the night." "Well, don't you look sharp." I jumped, then turned to see Noah leaning against my doorframe.

"Well, I'm going to see Lucas." "Ah, your soulmate. Right." I took another glance at the mirror, then felt myself being pulled. Noah had grabbed me and was tightly hugging me. "I can't believe it...my baby sister is all grown up now..." I hugged back. After a bit of hugging, he pulled back, his hands still on my shoulder, and smiled. "You'll tell me about him when you get back, right?" I smiled and nodded. "Of course, Noah."

The two of us walked outside. I stood at the exit of the palace, feeling my heart race faster and faster. I'm really doing this. Oh god, tonight's the night. I don't know if- "Sis?" I snapped out of my thought and looked at Noah. "Hm?" "Are you okay?" I shrugged. "Honestly? I'm nervous." "Obviously."

I looked ahead of me, staring at the hills that were miles away. Noah placed his hand on my shoulder. "Hey, it's okay. You'll be fine." I looked at him again. "What am I supposed to do on a date? I've never really interacted with a guy other than you and Jordan. And this dude is my soulmate! I'm supposed to marry him and be with him for the rest of my life! I don't know what to do!"

Natalie was pacing back and forth now. I hadn't seen her this nervous since she had first met Jordan, and he wasn't even her soulmate! I could only imagine her state of emotion right then. Just then, Jordan walked out. He raised his eyebrows, then looked at me and gestured to Natalie. "What's with her?" "She's going out to meet her soulmate, and she's got first-date jitters." "Ah. Might I offer some advice?" "Go right ahead."

I watched as Jordan slowly walked over to Natalie, stared at her for a second, then elbowed her arm. "Hey, fool, you nervous?" Natalie glared at him. "No freaking dip, Sherlock." She had a terrified look on her face. "Jordy, have you been on a date with Noah yet? Do you know what I should do when I see him? And what do I do if-"

Jordan glanced over at me, then back at Natalie, grabbing her shoulder. "Slow down there, speedtalker. Yes, Noah and I have been on a date. Here's my advice: be yourself. You're going to get to know him, right?" Natalie nodded. "Yeah..?" "Then just be yourself. He's the love of your life, and you're the love of his. Let him know the real you."

Natalie went silent, processing this information. Then she nodded slowly. "Okay. I'll do that." She looked up at the sky and smiled. "I think I should get going." She turned back to me and Jordan, pulling us into a group hug. We hugged back immediately. After a few seconds, Natalie pulled away, smiling at us, then turned and got a running start before taking off into the sky. Jordan started waving and shouting. "Bye! Tell us everything about your man when you get home!" I rolled my eyes and waved bye to Natalie as well.

I started making my way over to the designated meeting place, my heart racing more than ever. The winds were flowing through my hair. It actually felt sort of nice - like it had a calming sense about it. As the hills in the distance grew even closer, I saw the silhouette of someone standing at the base of a hill.

Is that Lucas? I didn't know, so I flew myself closer. It looked like him, so I decided to take a chance. I landed, allowing my wings to close, and started walking. When I was close enough, I decided to speak up. "U-um, Lucas? Is that you?"

I heard a familiar voice, so I turned to where I'd heard the voice. My eyes widened as I saw Natalie walking towards me. "H-hey, Nat!" She walked closer, tilting her head. "Nat..?" I blushed and scratched the back of my head. "W-well, I felt like giving you a nickname, and Nat was the only good one I could think of." "Oh...thanks."

A few seconds of an awkward silence went by. Then she cleared her throat and smiled at me. "Y-you look nice this evening." I glanced down at my outfit - plain t-shirt, light colored jeans, and white tennis shoes - then back at her. "But have you seen your outfit?! You look amazing." She turned bright red and looked away, rubbing the back of her head. "Th-thank you..."

There was another awkward silence before Natalie cleared her throat. "S-so...we should learn more about each other. That is the whole purpose of this date, right?" "Right. So! Tell me more about you."

Natalie sat down. "Okay. Well, for starters, I don't have too many friends or family members around. My aunt Lori has raised me ever since I was little." I sat down next to her, raising my eyebrow. "Really? What about your parents?" She suddenly got a pretty saddened look. "My parents were killed in battle."

My eyes widened in horror. "Oh my God, I'm so sorry! I-I didn't-" She smiled and gently grabbed my hand. "It's okay, Lucas." I was still feeling pretty bad. "I-I am so sorry, Nat. I didn't mean to make you upset." She smiled again and patted my shoulder. "Lucas, it's not your fault. And anyway, I've moved on. It doesn't bother me much anymore." I smiled and nodded. "O-okay."

Natalie continued speaking. "I also have an older brother, named Noah. We fight and tease each other like any siblings would, but we have a good relationship." I smiled. "Aww, how sweet." She smiled again. "One of his favorite things to do is to tease me over my lack of friends." "Oh, that's coldblooded." "For real. My aunt calls me a loner! And what's sad is that I can't disagree. I literally have one other friend, and that's it!"

I smiled again. "That's kinda sad." She giggled and nodded. I leaned forward and clasped my hands together. "I know your brother probably hears this a lot, and you're likely sick of it, but has Noah met his soulmate yet?" Natalie hesitated before nodding. "Yes. I just found out about it a while ago, too." "If it's not too much information, who's his soulmate?"

Natalie smiled. "Well, his name is Jordan. He's actually the 'one other friend' I have in my life." "Oh, nice! Your best friend is gonna be part of your family then, since he's your brother's soulmate." Natalie's eyes widened. "Oh, I didn't even think about that!" She faked a mad face. "Great! Now I'm stuck with him for the rest of my life!"

I snickered, and she leaned her chin in the palm of her hand, smiling. "That's enough about me. Tell me about your life." I laughed awkwardly and rubbed the back of my head. "Well, okay. I don't have any siblings, for one. I'm an only child." Natalie smiled. "Nice." "My mother is the person who's raised me for my whole life, and we have a pretty good relationship. She can be...er...strict at times, but it's not too horrible."

Natalie smiled, then awkwardly looked at her hands. "So...y-you know about the whole...war thing, right?" I rolled my eyes. "How could I forget? That's how we met, wasn't it? I was being chased by a Devil patrol, and you forced me to follow you." Natalie shot me a look. "What, would you rather my people capture you?"

What? "Wait, what did you just say?" Natalie arched her eyebrow and crossed her arms. "I said, 'Would you rather my people capture you?' Didn't you hear me?" My eyes widened. "You're...you're a Fallen Devil..?" She looked confused. "Yeah..? What's wrong with that?" Then it hit her. Her face paled as she stared at me with a look of horror. "You're a Risen Angel, aren't you?" I nodded. "Yeah." "So wait. Did...did we become forbidden soulmates?"
