Chapter 27

Jung Kook:

Even though Jungkook doesn't have to write any more songs, he wants to get good at it.

Golden maknae, gotta live up to my name.

Jungkook smirks to himself, heading to the studio floor.

I wonder if Namjoon is in yet...

Jungkook heads to the recording studios, humming happily. As he passes the dancing studio he pauses, recognising the music that is playing.

He peeks into the nearest room, curiosity getting the better of him.

The room is dark, and a figure is dancing to the music confidently.

He watches the figure dance to their song 'Blood, sweat, and tears' mesmerised. The person is swift and nimble; they move like a professional dancer. He does not recognise the figure. They don't look like one of the backup dancers.

Who could it be? Why aren't all the lights on?

He tries to get a better look, pushing the door open a little. His heart begins to race as their movements become more and more captivating.

Why doesn't he recognise this person? Is it a trainee? A new staff member? Or is it just too dark to tell?

All of a sudden the music turns off as the figure finishes the last movement so accurately he begins to question whether they are a BTS member and it's just too dark to tell.

But they're too short to be a BTS member... and their hair is too long.

The lights turn on and he stifles a gasp. Lilly turns to him, her hair up in a ponytail. Her eyes are wide with shock as she realises he was watching her.

"Oh, hi Jungkook," Lilly blushes, tensing up.

"I didn't know you could dance," He murmurs, stepping further into the room.

"It's just a hobby," Lilly smiles, "What are you doing here? Do you need the studio?"

"Well, I was going to work on composing a song, but I want..." He pauses, blushing a little, "I want to dance with you,"

Lilly looks taken aback like she was expecting him to tell her to go away.

"You want to dance with me?" She repeats. He nods, walking over to her.

"How many BTS songs do you know?" He asks as he begins stretching. She smiles, stretching with him.

"I need you, danger, Idol, DNA, Mic drop, no more dream, and... that's it so far," She says, grinning cutely, "Which one do you want to do?"

"Well, firstly, which member did you follow?"

"Yoongi," She grins, "He was the easiest to follow,"

"That's good," Jungkook chuckles, "Let's do 'I Need You',"

"Alright," She turns around and begins setting up the music. He watches her apprehensively. Why is he here, instead of working on his song?

He frowns, trying to understand why he has decided to change plans so quickly. But as she spins around, excited to dance with someone, he realises why.

He wants to spend time with her. But why?

Is it because he wants to be friends? Is he just excited to dance with someone different?

He pushes these thoughts aside as the music starts. At first, it's really awkward without the other members to fill the empty spaces, but she fills her position so well he doesn't have a hard time imagining the other members.

He messes up a few times, catching himself watching her instead of doing what he is supposed to be doing. By the end of it, they're in stitches, laughing at his mistakes.

"Yah, has it really been that long since you've done this song?"

Jungkook chuckles, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly.

"It must have been a while," He smiles down at her, "So, what do you want to do?"

"Well, I really enjoyed learning Mic Drop, so let's do that one,"

"I like that one," He grins as Lilly turns to prepare the music.

As he watches her again, trying to remember to dance, his heart begins to race. He soon realises she dances much like Jimin does. How did she get so good?

At the end of the song, Jungkook sits down, panting a little.

"Aren't you meant to be able to do more dances than this in one night?" She smirks, sitting beside him.

"I can, I just don't want to waste my energy," He lies, rubbing his chest to stop his heart beating so much.

Am I going to have a heart attack? What's wrong with me right now?

It's beating faster than he ever thought possible. How can it ache so much more than exercise?

"So, Lilly," Jungkook begins, "When did you learn these dances? I thought you didn't know BTS?"

She smiles, looking a little proud.

"I learnt them after I met Jimin when you guys were on tour,"

"Why?"

"Well," She smiles shyly, reminiscing, "It's always been a hobby of mine, and after watching you guys dance I realised it was the type of dancing I enjoyed, so I started learning them,"

"Really?" Jungkook begins imagining her learning the dances.

"Yeah, whenever I feel stressed, or anxious, I dance, and it takes it all away,"

Me too. Jungkook smiles to himself.

They talk for a while longer. Jungkook keeps questioning her about her life and what made her decide on dancing. As he learns more and more about her, the ache in his chest increases. He absentmindedly rubs his chest, trying to massage the pain away.

Why is my chest being like this?

After a while, Lilly begins asking him questions about himself, his family, and what it's like being a kpop idol, loved by so many. As much as these are pretty standard questions asked in interviews, he can't help answering her honestly. By the end of the conversation, she knows more about him than anyone, excluding the members.

"So, you still feel like composing songs? Because I am done for today," Lilly chuckles.

"Of course, I'm always up for writing songs," Suddenly, Jungkook has an idea, "Can you come and help me?"

Lilly blinks at him, a little confused, and rightly so. She's not the best composer here, and if he asks one of his members he'll be able to hang out with them. So why is he choosing her?

"Are you sure? I'm not the best at it, maybe you should ask Yoongi," Her face lights up at his name. She smirks a little at the thought of him.

Don't smile like that...

Jungkook goes wide-eyed as he realises what he was just thinking. Who cares if she's thinking of Yoongi, they're dating! She's just another staff member to him, right?

Right?

"It's just, you're really easy to work with," Jungkook replies, smiling shyly, "I know it's your day off, but I really want to get good at making music,"

She considers this for a moment, frowning at him. After a moment, she smiles, nodding happily.

"Sure, I can help you," She turns and picks up her bag, "Let's go,"

So, they head over to The Lilly Pad, chatting comfortably.

She helps him compose a song and make a beat to the lyrics he has prepared. She is much more helpful than Jungkook anticipated. She was helpful before, but not like this.

They spend a few hours like this, the ache in Jung Kook's chest lessoning and tightening at random intervals during their time together. By the end of it, Jungkook has only one thing on his mind: The other members. He has to ask them what this means.

Yoongi can't know.

As Jungkook says goodbye to her at the reception area, this is the only mantra on his mind. He can't know he's feeling like this.

I don't even know what these feelings are.

Maybe I just need to go to the hospital. Anxiety makes your heart act up, right?

What worries Jungkook most is if they are strong feelings. But what can he do? She is dating one of his good friends, a friend that is like an older brother to him. He can't act on the feelings, he can't persuade her.

He gulps as he recalls the time Vanilla went to the hospital and all the drama with Jimin. He doesn't want anything like that to happen.

But what if they get stronger and come out at the wrong time? Should he just suppress it?

I need to know what's happening first.

Jung Kook nods, heading out of the building and into the garage.

. . . . .

"Oh, JK," Seokjin murmurs, "You're home early,"

Jungkook smirks as he spots Jimin and Seokjin sitting at the table in the kitchen, eating takeaway.

"Why weren't you guys practising?" He asks.

Seokjin looks up at him, wide-eyed.

"Yah, we did practice!" He snaps playfully. Jimin chuckles, continuing to eat.

Jungkook starts to get nervous. Who should he ask?

Jimin.

Jimin is definite. He was in this situation before, so he'll have the best advice. Seokjin would be a good person to ask too; he'll know if it's just anxiety or actual feelings.

"You're home early," Jungkook turns to see Taehyung leaving his room.

"That's what I said," Seokjin chuckles, turning back to his food.

Yes, this is enough. I'll ask these three.

Jungkook gestures to Taehyung and sits at the dining room table with the others. He bites his lip nervously, looking up at Seokjin. Taehyung sits beside him, noticing the nervousness immediately.

"What's wrong, Jungkook?"

Jimin and Seokjin look up at him frowning. Each of them lean forward and begin whispering.

"Do you have something to tell us?"

"Is someone being mean at the agency?"

"Did you get in trouble?"

They ask, making Jungkook smirk.

"I'm not in trouble, but I need to talk to you guys," Jungkook murmurs quietly.

"Let's go to your room," Seokjin nods to Jungkook's door. Jungkook agrees as they stand up and head to the room, looking nervous themselves.

Jungkook checks to make sure no one else is in the house before closing the door and sitting on his bed. Taehyung is sitting on his computer chair, Seokjin is leaning against the wall beside the door, and Jimin is sitting on Jungkook's bed beside him.

"I have something I need to ask you guys, and you have to promise it doesn't leave this room, okay?"

Seokjin, Jimin and Taehyung look at each other nervously. Seokjin nods. Jimin turns to him, placing his arm on Jungkook's shoulder.

"What's wrong?"

. . . . .

Yoongi:

Yoongi quietly enters the dorm, making sure no one hears him. The members keep teasing him for staying at Lilly's house and Namjoon keeps saying she is a bad influence on him. But he needs to get some more clothes and things. He tiptoes to his and Seokjin's room, which is right beside Jungkook's room. He opens his door quietly, grabbing a few things.

"What? You like her?"

He freezes. He thought he was alone, but it sounds like Seokjin is in Jungkook's room. He frowns. Why is Seokjin in Jungkook's room? And who does he like?

Yoongi presses his ear to the wall, listening carefully.

"How do you know?"

Taehyung's voice.

Why are they hiding in there?

"My chest aches when I see her. We spent today dancing and I enjoyed it too much. Then we spent hours making music. I had fun, but I need to know if these are friendship feelings or different feelings, you know?"

So, Jungkook is having girl problems and Taehyung and Seokjin are giving him advice?

Yoongi tsks quietly. Why ask those two, of all people. He's better off asking Yoongi, or Hoseok, people with actual relationship experience.

I guess Seokjin has a little bit of experience, but Taehyung?

"Why did you dance with her? How did that happen?"

Jimin? Why is Jimin in there?

Well, he has experience with breakups, or one-sided crushes, whatever you want to call it.

Yoongi sighs.

I should go in there.

He'll be much more helpful than those three. Yoongi smirks as he realises those three would have been the only members in the dorms to help him.

Unlucky... I'll come help you, Jungkook.

Just as he is about to turn and leave the room, he hears his name.

"What if Yoongi finds out?"

He frowns, staring at the wall suspiciously. Do they really think he's that grumpy that he wouldn't be able to help?

But why are they bringing up my name?

Yoongi decides to just listen.

"I won't tell him, I'll never tell him, I just want to suppress it, or ignore it, or change my feelings,"

"This is really risky, Jungkook,"

"I know! That's why I am asking for help! I don't want to end up like Vanilla,"

Yoongi glares at the wall. Yes, he may have been away from his members for a while, and yes he may not be the most approachable person. But why on earth would he beat Jungkook up?

Yoongi recalls the times he supported and helped his younger members. When they are sick, when they lose motivation, and when they want to give up. He was there, right there supporting them and helping them get back on their feet.

What's wrong with these guys?

He continues to listen.

"Why did you have to like her, of all people?"

"Well, She's pretty and really nice. What's not to like?"

Jimin's voice. So it's a girl Jimin likes as well?

Suddenly, Yoongi begins to have suspicions.

Could they? Would they? Are they?

Yoongi smirks. They wouldn't be talking about her. How crazy would it be if Jungkook also fell for his girlfriend? Another BTS member falling for the same girl?

Yoongi shakes his head. No way. Jungkook's style is very different, much more different than Lilly.

But Jimin also likes girls with a much different style than Lilly.

Yoongi shakes his head. It would be too ironic, too Korean drama like, for Jungkook to fall for Lilly.

But then, who would they be talking about? What girl could Jungkook like that would make Yoongi angry?

An ex?

No, Jimin never liked any of Yoongi's ex-girlfriends.

A friend?

But they all know the same girls.

A staff member?

How could that make Yoongi angry?

A family member?

He doesn't have any family members that can dance.

Who then?

Yoongi presses his ear to the wall, so curious.

A voice rings out, saying a name he was subconsciously expecting, but still startled to hear.

"What's so special about Lilly? Why do you all like her?"

Yoongi freezes as Seokjin's words sink in. His worst fears have been confirmed.

How is this possible? Why does he like her? Why do so many BTS members like the same girl?

They're scared of me.

Yoongi frowns, torn between rushing into that room and breaking Jungkook's jaw and leaving them to talk.

If Jungkook is asking for advice from Jimin, surely, he doesn't plan to steal her away from him, right?

Right?

Yoongi continues to quietly pack his bag, anger pulsing through his body, making him numb and shaky.

Just ignore it. He's not plotting, he's seeking help. It'll be fine. It'll be fine. He won't take her.

After chanting this hymn as he packs and leaves the dorm he feels a lot better.

It'll be fine. They don't need to know I heard. And Lilly doesn't need to know Jungkook likes her.
