Chapter Two

Lynn's POV

I woke up the next day, realizing I dozed off on my couch.

"Oh, geez." I sighed and got up, stretching.

"So, is this all Ghost Seekers do? Sleep all day?" A sexy British guy's voice said beside me, making me jump out of my skin.

"Holy crap! You can't do that," I shouted at him and he put his hands up in surrender. "And no! To answer your question! I do not sleep all day!" I sighed in frustration as I walked over to my coffee pot to make coffee but there was apparently already coffee made.

"You're welcome." He said, standing next to me, making me jump again.

"Stop doing that!" I shouted at him.

"Sorry, sorry." He backed off.

"Look, I'm awake, you can go through to the other side any time now." I told him and he thought for a moment.

"Nah! Figured I'd stick around here a couple of days before heading off to Paris." He said and I rolled my eyes.

"How lovely. Did Zoe do this? Are you one of Zoe's Ghost buddies? Zoe, are you trying to set me up with a Ghost guy?! I already said no the first time!" I shouted and he raised his eyebrows. "Nope, wasn't Zoe." I whispered.

"So, anyway, you're the famous Lynn Houston, huh?" He asked and I sighed in annoyance as I finished my coffee and sat down on the couch, trying to ignore him. "What else do you do? I mean, besides sleeping all day and drinking coffee?" He asked me and I continued ignoring him, turning my TV on. He sighed and flopped onto the couch, almost making me spill my coffee.

I glared at him briefly before turning back to the TV. He smirked in the corner of my eye as he started bouncing up and down on the couch. I quickly placed my coffee down.

"Okay! Enough! If I answer your questions, will you stop bugging me?!" I shouted at him and he nodded, grinning.

"So, Lynn, what else do you do?" He asked me.

"Besides sleeping all day and drinking coffee?" I scoffed at him. "Nothing, except for helping Ghosts."

"I knew you were listening to me the whole time." He chuckled at me.

"Fine, forget it." I said, turning away.

"No, I'm sorry! I'm being serious now, I swear." He said and I rolled my eyes.

"Continue." I said.

"Where's your family?" He asked.

"Dead." I replied and he was taken aback.

"Dead?"

"Yes. Continue."

"Um, lover?"

"I have no life outside of my job. So the answer is no."

"Right, right. You've seriously never dated anyone or done anything fun?"

I looked to him, curiously.

"No, why?" I asked.

"Well, Ghost Seekers deserve days off too. At least, that's my opinion. You work hard and it's not good for you to always have Ghosts passing to the other side. It weakens you." He said, acting like he knew all about Ghost Seekers.

"What? I've never had a problem in my life. Stop acting like you know everything about me, it's annoying." I told him, sternly.

After awhile, he got quiet and we just sat there watching TV together. It was nice that he finally shut up. I kept taking glances at him here and there to observe his features.

White hair, like mine, that's interesting, probably not natural like mine is. Blue eyes, pale skin. Wait.. of course he has pale skin! He's a Ghost! Wait.. I have pale skin! Okay, anyways, he's tall, wears a black button up, black skinny jeans and converse... and he's very annoying.

"I can see you staring at me." He said and I quickly looked away.

"I wasn't staring.. just.. observing." I said, and he chuckled lightly.

"I apologize.. for earlier that is. I know we got off on the wrong foot. Hopefully, we can look that over and start again?" He asked and I sighed with a nod. "I'm Cade." He shook my hand.

"Lynn Houston." I replied.

"Nice to meet you." He smiled.

Something about him was mysterious, and it made me curious about him. Even though he was annoying, I wouldn't mind having him stick around because he is quite entertaining.
