The next Lucifer. Is that what he wanted?
I guess, so.
That's what he's plastered everywhere. The same stupid cocky grin.

I hate it.
I hate him.

I hate this stupid curse my family seems to have.

Mom hasn't visited yet, but we're all going insane. It's been two weeks and suddenly he's everywhere. People have been flooding in, asking about him.
And then the... attack happened.

Near the border between the water and air kingdoms, there was a huge battle. It ended quickly, the attackers destroyed everything there. Then they vanished without a trace. We all knew it was either the remaining members of Lucifer's army or him.
Maybe both.

And I hate it.

Everyone knows the story. How my mom destroyed her grandfather. How she became a god. Now they're asking where she is. What happened to her kids.

I just want it to end. I want it all to stop. I want to turn back time. I would rather have all this resentment and hatred then see my brother go. Everyone's going insane, I'm going insane! I want this all to stop but he's still out there.

And I don't know if I can face him again.

This is what my great-grandfather wanted. Destruction of the hierarchy.

I love it.

Maybe I'm not as strong as him, maybe I never will be, but this is enough. Destroy the royal families, then we can move on to something more important. The toppling of the gods.

How to kill an immortal being?

I'll figure it out. I got my whole life ahead of me. The average life span is 200 years, I got time. Besides, my grandfather somehow survived a banishing spell. For 100 years. With that amount of power and strength, I could do anything. I do have his genes after all. And for whatever mother is worth, she's also powerful... I suppose. But you have to take what you get, right?

"Sir."
"What?"
"Well... someone is here to see you. Says they're a friend. We currently have them in custody."
"...bring them here."

They throw in a girl, definitely a little disheveled, and take off a blindfold. Well, "blindfold". It was just loose cloth. They had definitely fallen from grace when Lucifer was murdered.

"Sam? Uh, Samara."
"Solar..."

She croaks out.

"I'm sorry. I'm so goddamn sorry, just please come back."

I roll my eyes and motion for the guards to leave.

"I reluctantly accept your futile apology, but why would I come back?"
"Because this is insane! You can't do this... mistakes have been made. But I'm willing to forget this if you can."
"Mistakes? No, no, no, this is destiny. I thank all of you. If you were terrible people, I would've never gotten to this point."

She looks down, almost ashamed.

"You're my best friend."
"Find another best friend."
"I can't... I can't just do that."
"You'll manage."
"Solar, please. I'm begging you."
"I know, it's embarrassing."

She walks up the steps leading to my throne and stands next to me.

"I want to be with you again. I want to have my best friend back."

I pause for a second.

"If you want me back, you're going to have to stay here."
"I..."

She looks around. The base was Lucifer's old castle. It was desperately in need of repair, but the foundation was still stable. It was turning into the sunset and the sky was glowing red.

"I want you back. But I don't know..."
"Take it or leave it, but it will be a waste of time coming here if you choose the latter."

She sighs.

"Solar. I might fucking love you."
"Wait, what-"
"But I don't know if I can love this new you."
"It's still me."
"I don't know if that's true. But I just want you back. I'll do anything."
"Then stay."

I grab her arms.

"We'll rule the world. No one can stop us!"

She looks down.

"That sounds like you... kinda."
"Because it is me."

She hugs me.

"Let me go back home first. Let me mull over it a little."
"Fine, get your things while you're there."

She breaks away and jumps down to the floor.

"Don't get your hopes up... I guess."

She walks away.

Sam came back a day after she left. Her parents were pissed, but also too happy to really be mad at her.

"What did you do?"
"I think... I think I'm finding a way to Solar."
"What?"
"He... he offered to have me stay with him."
"No way. Please tell me you said no."
"Well... I-"
"Sam!"
"He's my best friend... and maybe I can fix him, you know? Maybe I can stop him from getting worse."
"Or you could ruin it even more, maybe get yourself seriously hurt! My great-grandmother couldn't stop Lucifer, what makes you think you can stop him?"
"Just let me do this. I can't just stand back and watch."

She softly smiles.

"And when you and Vapor get together, don't forget to tell me."
"Not the point of this conversation."
"Not denying it."
"Not the point."

We both sigh.

"If you're really going to do this, be safe."
"Tell my parents for me."

Two days later, she was gone, with all of her stuff.
