Chapter 13

~~{Sunrise}~~

"The day Sam left, she told me, 'Tell me when it happens.' Any idea of what she meant?"
"Oh, uh... no idea."

Vapor and I sat on the edge of a cliff. It was slightly windy, which brought back bad memories, but I didn't mind so much. It blew my hair all over my face, which I still needed to get used to. Didn't want to, not really.

"You okay?"
"Fine."

He raises an eyebrow at me and shakes his head.

"Better way of phrasing that, what's wrong?"
"Nothing."
"Sunrise-"
"Leave it!"

He looked slightly hurt.

"I... I'm sorry."

Tears form in my eye and I don't bother wiping them away, just letting them fall to the ground.

"Where did I mess up? How did I let my brother just leave?"
"You didn't mess up."
"People don't just change like that. Something has to happen. Anything, whether small or big."
"I think it was a bunch of small things that rolled the ball a little further each time."
"I should've seen it. I'm such a bad sister."
"He's the one that left."
"I can't just blame this all on someone else. I did this as well. He's just being so... selfish right now."

I lean on Vapor's shoulders and he wraps an arm around me.

"We'll figure this out."

~~{Solar}~~

She came. She's staying... hopefully. But I'm happy she's here now.

"You have everything?"
"Can't really go back now anyway, but I think so."
"I could have my army go and attack the camp-"
"NO! No... Ah, sorry."
"It's okay, I guess."

She sighs and looks away.

"One of these days, you're going to have to choose."
"What?"
"Me or them."
"I already chose the moment I came back."
"No, no you didn't."
"I chose you."
"Where do your loyalties lie, Sam?"
"I..."
"That's what I thought."

I move to get out of her room, but she stops me.

"I'm loyal to myself. I'm loyal to my family. My family, mind you. And I'm loyal to you. Not your cause, not your loyalties, I am loyal to you."

She turns away from me.

"If you can believe that."
"Fine, but if the time comes... you might have to choose between friends and family or me."
"Then I choose my family. That's all that matters to me in the end. My family."

~~{Chelsy}~~

This could be the stupidest thing I've ever done.

"Where are you going?"
"Who says I'm going anywhere?"
"Your dragon. Now, are you telling me or what?"
"Thanatos, when have I ever told you anything important?"
"I don't know, maybe the day we got married?"
"Oversight."
"Wow, thanks. Be home soon, don't die. Seriously, emphasis on the die part."
"I'll try my best."
"Chelsy-"

I wave goodbye as my dragon flies up into the air. I didn't have the heart to tell him what I was doing, but I heard some... distressing news.

Attention all! The Royal Family of the Water Kingdom has fled. We have no idea where they are and we are currently trying to sort out the new rulers. May the gods have mercy on us all...

They fled. At a certain point, don't blame them. The royal families have a tendency to die. A lot. But, I know what I should do now.

I drop down at Lucifer's old base. Ugh, just thinking of him makes me gag.

With my blood magic, it wasn't very hard to slip past guards, and I made it all the way to the throne room and sat down. He wasn't there yet but he would be.

"Aunt Chelsy?"
"Sam. Nice to see you. Can you go get Mr. Bigshot, please?"
"Aunt Chelsy, you really shouldn't-"
"Go. Get. Him."

She sighs and nods.

"You're making a huge mistake."
"Maybe. But just come back here in like 10 minutes."

So, I waited.

"She was right, after all, you are here."
"Hey, kid. Sit down."
"Why would I do that?"
"Because frankly, I'm not in the mood for games. Sit. Down."

He glares but sits down opposite of me.

"Why are you here?"
"Well, you've probably heard that the Water Kingdom Royal Family has fled. Probably because of you."
"Yes, why?"
"Well, I have a birthright to the throne. You should know this. After this, I'm heading straight there to be crowned."
"That's a death wish. Besides, who said you were coming out of this place alive?"

I shrug.

"Well, you. It all comes down to you. Let me live, I become Queen. Kill me now, well I hope you feel sad."
"Killing you now."

I sigh.

"Really? Well, that's anticlimactic."
"I don't want to kill you, but I'll have to. Better now than later."
"You sound like your mother and your great-grandfather at the same time. Ah, well I hope Sam's pissed at least."

He aims his hand at me, wavering. Trying to see if I attack back. I just sit there, staring right back at him.

"Do it."

That's when the doors open. Sam's standing there, eyes wide, mouth slightly open.

"What are you doing?"
"What I have to do."
"Eh, I'm just chilling."

She runs over and smacks his arm down.

"Maybe I would've let you do this if I wasn't watching, but she's our Aunt Chelsy. I'm not letting you kill her while I'm watching."
"You don't have a choice."

He smacks her arm away and starts powering up another attack.

"Just say you won't do it and you live."
"Nah. I'm true to my word... most of the time. Besides, I want to see how much Lucifer there is in you and how much Luna there is."
"All Lucifer."
"Well, tsk. That's wrong. You really don't know yourself."

I use my blood magic to slam him against the wall.

"Aunt Chelsy! Let him go!"

He grits his teeth and tries to use his own blood magic to stop me, but I was much more skilled than him.

"Years of experience."

I drop him down to the ground and tsk.

"Tell your guards to kill me. Track me down and slit my throat. But know this, I'm not a forgiving person, but I would be willing to forgive you. Your mother is my best friend."

I leave the throne room and go back to my dragon. No one bats an eye.

Maybe there is some good in that kid.

"Alright, next stop: The Water Kingdom."
