☆\\ Chapter Seven
"My babies!".
I smiled widely as grandma engulfed both of us in a tight, warm hug. I really did miss her. She looked almost the same with her silver hair tied neatly in a bun and her hazel eyes that were beaming with joy. She was wearing her favorite floral dress that was sweeping the floor.
"We're not babies anymore grandma", Avan said jokingly before we pulled away. The place was still the same as I remembered. The beautiful flowers, the neatly trimmed bushes and ofcourse, the super fresh air. There was just something about grandma's place that felt comforting.
"Let's go inside, I redecorated your rooms for you", she said as I heard the slamming of the car trunk. Clyde had taken our bags and was carrying them inside the house. I still couldn't get over the fact that he wasn't human. I didn't know if I should ask him about it or let it be.
Knowing myself, I always wanted to find out more. Was he a normal wolf and if not, what type was he?. Why wasn't he with his pack or family?. I was too curious for my own good but I needed answers. And I was going to get them.
"Wow, the place really looks different", Avan said in awe as we entered the house. Grandma had really done some serious renovation. Most of the antique furniture was long gone and was replaced with modern designs. The walls were decorated with different paintings and elegant wall stickers. The picture frames were made of gold that gave off a luxurious shine.
The place looked astonishing.
"Your rooms are upstairs, I'll show you", Clyde said as he looked at me. I averted my eyes instantly before he turned and started heading upstairs. We followed after him and in a few seconds we reached the top.
"Avan your room is to the left and Lina yours is to the right", he stated before Avan rushed off to a door that was to the left of us. I looked up at him and his eyes were piercing into mine. I swallowed harshly as I felt the awkwardness coming on.
"We'll talk later ok?", he said and I nod quickly.
He then went to the right and opened the door. I followed him inside the room and sure enough, it was redecorated as grandma said. The color scheme was appealing to the eyes. It was a dark shade of blue with hints of black and white. The walls showcased different types of flower stickers and artistic paintings. In the center of the room was a double bed lined with thick yellow sheets. A blue carpet was draped across the floor and a small glass table was in the center.
Grandma really outdid herself.
"When you get sorted you guys can come down. I'm going to help your grandma out with some stuff", Clyde said and I nod at him.
He stood there for a few more seconds before walking out and closing the door. I flopped down on the bed as I stared at the beautifully carved ceiling. Well, I was finally here, far away from home. I checked my phone to see that it was just after one in the evening.
I had enough time to visit the lake.
I slipped from the bed and left the room. I heard music coming from Avan's room and I went to his door. I knocked as loud as I could but there no answer. I shrugged then walked away. Atleast he was enjoying himself. Once downstairs I went to the kitchen and saw Clyde without any shirt on drinking something from a glass.
I turned my head away when his eyes met mine. There was some shuffling before he appeared right infront of me.
And yes, he now had a shirt on.
"I believe you have some questions for me?", he asked and I looked up at him. He seemed calm and relaxed as he stared into my eyes as if he was trying to read me.
"I just...does my grandma know?", I asked timidly but he shook his head no.
"I'm a wolf but I'm not apart of any pack. In other terms I'm a lone wolf and a rogue. I don't live by anyone's rules", he said and I crossed my arms around myself.
"But why?. I mean doesn't it get lonely when you aren't around your kind?", I asked.
He shrugged and placed the glass on the table.
"Not really. It's something you get use to. I've met a couple of other wolves in the past but I never joined their packs. I rather depend on myself and keep on the low".
There was a long silence before a scream caught everyone's attention. We both ran from the kitchen, my heart started racing because it came from grandma. Once outside, I saw her standing near her flowers trembling as if she had just seen as a ghost.
"Grandma?", I said as I took her hand. Clyde wrapped his arms around her but she wouldn't budge. She was staring into woods but there was nothing there.
"I swear I saw something...", she said slowly pointing towards the woods.
"Take her inside", Clyde said and I hurriedly pulled her inside the house. I put her to sit in her rocking chair before taking a seat on a wooden bench that was on the opposite side.
"I saw something in the woods Lina, I'm not sure what it was but it seemed unrealistic. Maybe I was just seeing things", she said before I placed a comforting hand on her shoulder.
"It's alright, I'm sure it was nothing", I replied feeling really unsure. I'm sure my grandma wasn't beginning to see things or in other words, becoming senile. She was healthy as far as I know and mom never brought up anything that was wrong with her.
"What did I miss?", I heard Avan said as he came over to where we were. He was sweating like crazy and that made me wonder what he was doing all that time.
I was about to answer when I felt a searing pain in my belly. I clutched my stomach and groaned. I felt a hand on my shoulder but it felt like it was scorching my skin.
"Lina, what's wrong?", Avan asked as I felt another wave of pain sliced through me. What the hell was happening?!.
"Take her to lay down, I'll make some tea", I heard grandma say before Avan pulled me up. I made to step but I couldn't. The pain was too much. It felt like a burnt sensation. It also felt like I was craving something.
Suddenly, I was lifted off my feet and into the arms of Clyde. I was in too much pain to comment so I allowed him to carry me to my room. I was placed on the bed and I gripped the sheets as another wave of pain hit me. It was like someone was stabbing me in the belly over and over again.
"Avan, get a glass of very cold ice water", Clyde said before Avan rushed out the door. He then took my hand and looked at me.
"Have you...ever met an Alpha?", he asked and I nod slowly. What was going on?. What does an Alpha have to do with the pain I was feeling?.
"Lina, do you know what-", he was about to say something but he stopped halfway. I gripped his hand as my eyes pleaded with him.
"What?. Do you know what's wrong with me?", I asked but he refused to speak up.
"It's better to not hear it from me. Just hang on for now, when the time is right you'll know everything".
You got to be kidding me!.
I groaned and turned on my side as the pain was beginning to get unbearable. I felt the tears brimmed to my eyes. I think dying would be much better than continously experiencing this pain. It was even worst than menstrual pain!.
"Here's the water and a cup of tea", Avan said as his worried eyes met mine.
I sat up placing my head against the headboard before taking the tea from him. I took a sip feeling myself getting drowsy. What was happening?. My vision was becoming a bit blurry and I pushed the cup out before it was removed from my hand.
I turned on my side and hugged the pillow to my chest. I closed my eyes as the pain began to subside. My body felt weak and lifeless but also well relaxed. Like I was on cloud nine. I laid there for a few more seconds before I fell into a deep sleep.
