☆\\ Chapter Nine

NALINA ROMIREZ

Why did I have a feeling that something bad was going to happen today?. But then again, what could be worst than the pain I felt for up to three days straight?. It wasn't even my period because it already came earlier in the month. I was even more confused about what Clyde had said. What did the Alpha have to do with this?. I've been on the edge just by that statement alone. He refused to tell me what I needed to know for whatever reasons.

Back at Grandma's, I spent all those three days in bed wondering when the pain was going to end. It eventually stopped late Saturday night but I still felt uneasy. Clyde barely spoke to me during those times and to be honest, that didn't bother me at all. If he didn't want to tell me what I needed to know it made no sense he exchanged words with me.

I decided to sit right at the back of history class today. Mr. Ambrose was our professor and the topic for today was quite intriguing. We were going to learn about supernatural creatures. Maybe after class I could ask him about werewolf mythology and see if I could find out anything. I was desperate for some answers.

"My baby!", Kailee said as she wrapped her arms around me. I called her yesterday and told her everything about the pain I was feeling and she sympathized with me. Now I was back at school and she was more than happy to see me.

"How are you feeling?", she asked as she took a seat beside me.

"I'm fine. I was just wondering if I should take a video of Avan", I said as I showed her Avan's sleeping figure. As he came into class he placed his head on the desk and fell asleep. He was up most of the night playing multi-player football with his past high school friends.

"I'll do it. Let's see how he reacts to it", she replied as she pulled out her phone and started videoing him. He shifted and she removed the phone as we laughed quietly to ourselves. Mr. Ambrose walked in and that's when eveyone including me straightened up.

"Good morning class. Today we'll be learning about the supernatural beings. For those who applied and stayed, thank you. We had up to thirty individuals and now it's all down to you fifteen. I guess not everyone is interested in learning sessions about the supernatural which won't help them in any career".

He was right. It was a choice to do these sessions which will only last a few months and there were up to thirty people in the first class. They all left for their own personal reasons. I didn't because learning about these things was quite fascinating to me.

"What type of supernatural creatures are we learning about today?", someone at the front ask as Mr. Ambrose positioned the projector.

"Take a guess", he replied before the huge screen popped up. Just as I hoped, we were learning about werewolves. I heard a groan and checked to see that Avan was now wide awake. He stretched his arms and yawned a bit too loudly.

"Mr. Romirez, please don't interrupt my class", Mr. Ambrose said as he eyed him keenly.

"I'm sorry sir", Avan replied as he got a few stares from the other students.

"Ok, it's all set. But, now for the suprise. I have a very special guest here. He knows more about the supernatural world than any of us could imagine, especially about werewolves. He will be willing to answer any of your questions and try to educate you as best as possible", Mr. Ambrose said before a huge grin sprung to his face.

The students start whispering to each other as I sat there confused. What was he talking about?. I looked between Avan and Kailee and they were just as puzzled as I was. That was until the door opened and in stepped the one person I never expected to see.

The Alpha.

The class was deadly silent. I watched as he scanned the room then his eyes landed on me. My body started to shake, my heart started racing a bit faster. Two other guys came in after him and took a seat on the left. Their demeanors firm as they relaxed in their seats.

"Class, this is Alpha Mykel Knight and yes you heard that right, he is the Alpha of BitterFang Pack and he will be educating you on the werewolf world. Please welcome him", Mr. Ambrose stated before there was a chorus of claps.

"Why is he here?", Avan whispered to me and I shrugged.

My eyes never left his as he made his way to the center of the class. He turned the projector off before leaning on the desk. He crossed his arms as he observed us one by one. He looked dominant and confident. I took that time to admire how good he was dressed. His pants were black and well pressed and his white shirt hugged his body like a second skin.

"Before I start, are there any questions?", he asked in his deep voice that sent chills down my spine. I bit my lip as he eyes met mine once more. Why did I feel this pull as if I should leave my seat and go to him? I groaned inwardly as I started to feel frustrated.

"Yes I do, why are you so hot?", a girl at the front asked before half of the class started laughing. I clenched my jaw at her ridiculous question.

"I bet half the girls in here wants to take his pants off", Kailee whispered to me and I couldn't have agreed more. It was bound to happen.

"Thanks for the compliment. Alright, let's begin. Wolves are ferocious creatures but that doesn't mean they have no feelings. We're just like you humans except the shifting part. Just like you we need each other to survive and as an Alpha, my pack comes first. Just like they need me I need them", Mykel spoke as we all listened intently.

There was just something about his voice that captured my fullest attention. It was rough yet so soft, so gentle. It was calming and it relaxed my body.

"So what if a pack member disobeys, do you kill them or something?", a guy to the right asked and Mykel gave a small smile.

"No I don't. Once a pack members disobeys they are warned and if it's to the limit they will be punished. Not a harmful punishment but enough to set an example", he replied as his eyes met mine again. I saw his eyes flash but it was so quick that I almost didn't see it. I still didn't know what that meant.

"Next, we have different members in our pack. We have the beta who is my right hand, the Zeta's who are the highest ranking warriors, the Etas who are also warriors but a lower rank, the Gammas who are the wisest members of the pack, the Theta who is the pack doctor, the Kappas who are the lead hunters, the Delta who is the pack messenger and we also have the omegas which are like the caretakers of our pack houses".

I never knew what a wolf pack consisted of until now. This was truly interesting. Every wolf had a title and they were all important.

"So don't you guys have like parties or weddings or those stuff?", someone else asked as Mykel got on his feet. He crossed his arms as he looked at me.

"We have ceremonies and duels. On the night of the full moon, we challenge each other to showcase our abilities and strengths. We have mating ceremonies when a wolf finds their mate and is ready to connect as one", he answered with a small smile.

"What's a mate?", another question was asked but before he could answer the bell rang for lunch period. I groaned because I wanted to know more. Everyone started packing up and leaving the classroom. I stayed still in my seat gazing into his eyes that were piercing through mine.

"You coming Lina?", Kailee asked and I looked at her. I wanted to but there was something I needed to know.

"Not yet, I want to ask Mr. Ambrose a few questions", I lied but they bought it. Avan eyed me for a while before following kailee out the class. I watched as Mr. Ambrose took up his briefcase and left then it was the two other guys.

I was now left alone with Mykel.

I stayed still in my seat as he got up and started coming towards me. I stood up and took a step back from him. He stopped dead in his tracks and I bit my lip. I stepped back until my back hit the wall. Why did I want to go closer to him and just stay there forever?.

I need answers and I need them now!.

"Why do I...feel connected to you?", I asked and he ran a hand through his hair. He bit his lip next before looking back at me.

"Because you're my mate".

I tried to register what he just said. What was a mate?. That was the only question on my mind right now. He came closer and closer until he was right in front of me. His hands reached out and cupped my cheeks. I found myself leaning into his touch. I tried to pull away but my body was not having it.

"I don't understand", I said softly before a deep sigh escaped my lips. He caressed my cheeks as he stared deeply into my eyes.

"A mate-"

The door was suddenly pushed open and Avan came in. His face twisted into confusion as he looked between Mykel and I. I pulled away as fast as I could and went to grab my bag. I rushed from the class, trying my best to stable my breathing. Avan wrapped an arm around me as he pulled me away from everyone's view.

"Lina, what did he do to you?", he asked in a very serious tone.

"I want to go home", I replied ignoring his question. He wanted to protest but I was glad he didn't. He took my hand before leading me through the school doors and down the steps.

I really needed to clear my mind.
