☆\\ Chapter Ten

I sat at my window just looking out into the dark abyss. I had been in my room since I got home. After what happened at school my mind was in a mixture of emotions. I did some research about mates but I still didn't understand anything.

Why was I mated to an Alpha and what did that mean for me?.

I had refused to talk to anyone since I got home including Avan. He was eager to know what happened in the classroom but I didn't want to talk. I didn't even go down for dinner no matter how much my dad forced me. I only wanted to talk to someone who would tell me what I needed to know.

There was a knock and I slowly got up and went towards the door. I opened it and my mom was standing there looking really worried.

"Lina, I know you're not ok but please talk to me. I can't have you like this. You haven't even eaten since you got home. I'm your mother and I'm the best person to talk to", she said sadly and I started to feel bad.

I sighed as I stepped aside so she could come in. I closed the door and walked towards the bed. She took a seat beside me and waited for me to start. I didn't know if she would understand either but it was worth the shot.

"From the first time I set foot on the Alpha's territory, I felt this pull towards him. I don't know why but I do. He came to school today and was educating us on their kind and my body was so drawn to him. It's like it was just us in the class and time had frozen still. I wanted to be near him and it's just driving me crazy because I can't figure out why. He said...that I was his mate. I did some research but I still don't get it".

I was looking at her the entire time I was talking. Her expression had shifted from worried to serious. She got up from the bed and so did I.

"Mom, what's wrong?. Do you know why I am mated to the Alpha?", I asked desperately but she only placed her hands on my shoulder.

"No I don't sweetie, but I need to talk your father about this. Just take it easy for now and please come down for something to eat".

She left the room before I could protest. There was something going on and I still haven't gotten the answers I needed. Mom knew something and it hurt me because she was keeping it from me. I had to get those answers myself and there was only one person I could talk to.

Mykel.

If he was the only one who had the answer, I need to see him. I was going to face the woods once again but not alone. I took up my phone and dialed Kailee's number.

"Hello", she answered in a sleepy voice. Why was she sleeping so early in the night?.

"Hey, I need to go somewhere but it's in the woods", I said almost too casually as I waited for her response. I heard a deep groan before she replied.

"Does this have anything to do with the Alpha because Lina to be honest, I think you should stay away. He's a wolf and they can be very-

"-Are you going to accompany me or not?", I asked cutting her off. I didn't have time for her speech. This was something I had to do.

"You know I got you Lina, I just hope we will stay safe. I don't want to get eaten by anything that lurks in those woods", she answered with worry lacing her voice.

"Thank you. I'll meet you at the border and please don't tell anyone where you're going", I said before I end the call.

I had a feeling that doing this was worth it but I knew I was in for something truly unexpected. I pushed those thoughts to the back of my mind and pulled on my jacket. I took up my flashlight then locked my room door.

I turned off the lights before opening the window. I looked back before releasing a sigh and climbing out. The best thing about this was that Kailee's house wasn't too far from mine. The border was just a place where the grass stopped growing and the other side was just a stone pavement.

I was risking my life to venture through the woods to see Mykel but I needed answers.

And I knew he was going to give me them.

"Lina, slow down", kailee whispered as she caught up to me.

"I can't, we need to move fast. These woods aren't safe and as you said, we don't want to get eaten", I replied as I used the flashlight to navigate through some huge vines.

"How do you even know this is the right way?", she asked and I hummed to myself.

"Well, I recognized the vines we passed a few seconds ago and this path seems right", I replied as I stepped over a fallen branch.

"This is unbelievable. I can't belive you dragged me out here because of some guy-

"-I asked you to come, I didn't force you. If you want to turn back then go. I need answers and he's the only one that has them. We have a connection and I want to know exactly what it means", I replied cutting her off as I looked at her. I was getting really impatient.

"I'm sorry, I just hate the woods. I'm too pretty to get eaten plus I haven't even travelled to Dubai as yet".

I rolled my eyes as I took her hand and pulled her along with me. The place was only illuminated by the half moon and the only sounds were the insects and other creatures that lived here. We walked until my feet were beginning to get sore. Was I really going in the right direction?. I wasn't feeling too confident now.

"Lina?...I think we're lost", Kailee said as we both stopped and looked around. This section of the woods seemed really unfamiliar. I groaned as I tried to find anything to refresh my memory.

"Lina, I think we are in serious trouble".

I didn't catch on to what she meant until I looked ahead of us. We both gripped each other as fear started to creep in. There in front of us were two black wolves but they looked different from the regular wolves. They seemed more dangerous and wild.

"Oh shit!", I said as we took a few steps back. They were growling at us as they came closer and closer. Running wasn't an option because we couldn't out run them.

"Still think this was a good idea", Kailee whispered as she gripped me even harder. I was terrified but not as much as she was. We continued backwards until our feet hit the vines. The wolves were coming onto us ready to attack any minute.

Why does curiosity always kills the cat?. I just needed answers that both Clyde and my mom were hiding from me. I thought this was the best thing to do but I was wrong since we're about to be wolf meat in a few seconds.

As our breathing got heavier, a howl was heard coming from ahead of us. The wolves looked at each before turning to the direction of the sound. Kailee and I looked at each other knowing that this was the best time to run. Before we could take off a wolf emerged from the darkness towering over the black wolves.

Three more appeared after growling fiercely at them. My knees started to get weak and that's when I realized who it was. It was Mykel. He bared his teeth at the wolves but they were not backing down. He was bigger than all of them because he was an Alpha.

"I think we should go", Kailee whispered as she tried pulling me but I stayed still. I was staring deeply into his red eyes. I wanted to go closer to him and I found myself just stepping forward.

"Lina, are you going insane?. What are you doing?", Kailee said as she pulled me behind a tree. The growls got louder and before you know it a fight was happening. I peaked and saw that Mykel had one of the wolves by their neck. The other one was trying to escape but another wolf caught it and snapped its neck.

I turned away and swallowed harshly. The fighting went on for a while before everything quieted down.

"You girls can come out now"

I stepped out from behind the tree with Kailee still clinging onto me. Mykel was standing there naked but I kept my eyes from wandering lower.

"I need answers, I want to know what a mate is", I said with as much confidence as I could muster up. I really needed to know everything.

"Very well, let's go", Mykel responded with a small smile.

I looked at Kailee who was still in shock before I started to follow after him. Finally I was going to get what I wanted.

I just hope it wasn't as bad as I thought.
