Reeve was sitting with Alpha Steve, trying his best to keep his patience under control. The Alpha had completely submerged himself in depression. He didn't want to face a reality that wasn't with his mate in it.
"Steve, your pack need you. A young female has been taking care of everything while your son has abused his position. Do you believe Maria would allow this if she were here with us?" A low blow, but Reeve knew he needed all the ammunition he could get.
Steve's dull eyes suddenly had a little light and Reeve knew he was getting somewhere. Just a little more time, Reeve thought when the door suddenly burst open.
Reeve stood, looking at Cecily in confusion. "What are you doing here? What's wrong?"
"Cameron has decided to take the position of Alpha. He's taken Teaghan to the cells because of the fight earlier! I don't know what he's going to do to her. Teaghan hasn't exactly been nice to him."
Rage and fury were nothing compared to what Reeve was feeling right now. Reeve turned back to Steve and glared, "if your son has hurt my mate I won't hesitate to rip him apart. Do you want that to happy Steve?! Do you? Do you want to lose the last person that connects you to your beloved Maria?"
Without waiting for an answer, Reeve followed Cecily out of the room. Reeve called Gael to met him out front and was relieved to see him standing there. "What's happened?" Gael asked, keeping pace with Cecily and Reeve.
"Cameron took Teaghan. He claimed that he was taking the responsibility of acting Alpha and because Tea whooped his ass earlier she's being held and probably tortured because of it," Cecily hoped that Cameron had more sense than to immediately start hurting her sister, but she wasn't sure.
Just hearing it again made Reeve's blood boil hot. He knew why Teaghan hadn't fought back. She couldn't, not without an instant death. As an Omega of the Reed pack as soon as Cameron had announced that he was acting Alpha she was bound to obey.
While Cameron seemed to think he was smart by forcing Teaghan's hand like that he has forgotten one primary thing in the teachings of becoming Alpha.
A mate was even more precious than title, position, and life. And much like titles as an Alpha's mate, Teaghan has protection from allianced packs. No one, no one can hurt a hair on her head without declaring war.
Cameron doesn't realize just what he's done by taking Teaghan but Reeve was prepared to beat that lesson into him. The closer he got the more the scent of Teaghan's scent filled his nose.
It wasn't strong it was actually very light and fading quickly.
"Through there," Cecily pointed to a well-hidden steel door, "down the stairs we'll come to a large hallway. I don't know what cell he's keeping her in but it's like a maze. We'll have to rely on scent."
Reeve moved in front of Cecily, holding her arm gently, "you should stay here."
Cecily yanked her arm out of his hands and glared, "she may be your mate but she is my sister and there is no way in hell that I'm staying up here while they are doing goddess knows what to her."
With that said; Cecily moved to the door calling over her shoulder, "hurry up we're wasting time."
Reeve bit back a smile as he followed. Gael close behind him. When they entered it took a lot of willpower not to turn around and walk back out. The stentch smelt moldy and it was obvious that something had died down there.
Reeks like death down here, Gael said through the mind link.
We need to concentrate on Teaghan's scent and follow it.
Reeve stopped behind Cecily at the bottom of the stairs. She hadn't been kidding when she said it was like a maze. There were several doors, he wasn't even sure which one to start with.
"Each door leads to another hallway. That hallway leads to several holding cells. There are three rooms ahead that-" Cecily paused, her body trembling.
"What are the three rooms ahead for?" Gael asked her gently.
"Torture. There are chains that hang from the ceilings, beds that have straps, all sorts of ways to torture.." Her voice was strained with emotions and it made Reeve's heart beat faster.
"We'll look there first. We'll find her Cecily, don't worry." Reeve assured, gently pushing her forward.
Taking the hint Cecily moved forward. They'd have to pass at least ten doors before they made it to the three that her sister could be behind. A scream bounced off the walls, causing an echo within the tunnels and it ripped Cecily's heart out.
"That's Tea!" She shot forward, her nose taking in Teaghan's scent. The decay of something, the mold, the dirt, in general, made it more difficult to pinpoint but with the light scent and the sounds of chains clanking, the chuckling she managed to find the door.
"This one," she whispered.
This time Reeve refused to let Cecily go in first. He grabbed her shoulders and pushed her behind him into Gael's waiting arms. Reeve grabbed the doorknob and thrust it open just as another scream ripped through the room.
If the sight hadn't made Reeve see red, he may have found Cameron and his two accomplice's expression's amusing. As it was, just seeing Teaghan hanging from the ceiling with steel around her wrists made him roar his fury.
Reeve advanced on the two males first, they were nothing so he didn't even spare them a chance to fight him. With quick work, he snapped their necks and stepped over their bodies to get to Cameron who looked at him with eyes as wide as saucers.
"W-wait! What are you doing?! You can't just attack my men! Do you know who I am?!" Cameron demanded as he backed away from Reeve's deadly rage.
Reeve didn't stop until he had his large hand wrapped around Camerons twig sized throat. He slammed him into the wall, grinning when he heard the crack and Camerons groan of pain.
"I know exactly who you are you little worm, however, do you know who I am? Do you know exactly who you have there, chained? Do you know that I could kill you without a second thought?"
He moved in closer, whispering exactly what he was capable of. "I could kill you slowly. I could drag it out for hours, days, weeks, possibly months or years. I would have you begging for death only for it to be just out of your reach."
Reeve enjoyed the wild look of fear in his eyes. "Gael, Cecily, grab Teaghan and take her back to the top. Make sure her wounds are looked at by Sean."
Reeve refused to look at Teaghan again. If he did he would definitely kill Cameron without another thought. As it was, the scent of her blood and fear filled his nose, making his nostrils flare.
