Two days until surgery-

All of Jessica's family was in and out visiting Scarlett. The doctors came up with a plan for Scarlett's surgery, so everything was set and ready to go.

The closer and closer they got to Sunday morning, the more anxious and nervous Jessica became. She didn't know how she'd be able to get through this. She was such a mess already.

This week was a prime example of Jessica's life being at an all time high then going right back down to an all time low. it's like she could never catch a break.

Ever since Jessica called Danny, she's been waiting nervously for him to walk through the door. But no one had heard anything from him yet.

It disappointed Jessica. She felt as if maybe he lied and wasn't well... maybe he wasn't coming. As much as she hated him after all he had done, it was only right for him to be there for his daughter as she is going through a life threatening operation.

Jessica tried not to worry about him. Just Scarlett. Everything was about Scarlett making sure she was healthy, safe, and comfortable.

Her family was really being great, helping out all they could and being there for Jessica and her baby girl. These next few weeks were going to be tough.

"Mama, home please, please!" Scarlett cries as a nurse sets her up for another test. They put wires all around her head them stabilized it with a cap.

"Baby, you'll be home before you know it. Just a few more days." Jessica says soothingly. She didn't exactly know how long they'd be in this hospital.

The doctors prepared Jessica for what was to come. They would be performing a hemispherectomy. It's the most common type of surgery for children who are is Scarlett's exact shoes. All they are doing is going in and removing a small piece of her brain. That piece is where her seizures originate from.

It was a very scary thought. Of course many risks come along with this surgery, but Jessica trusted Scarlett's doctors one hundred percent. After the surgery, depending on how it goes, Scarlett will spend her first night in the ICU, then another four nights in another room until it was time to go home. They warned Jessica that recovery would be very painful and hard for her. It could be weeks until she could go back to her regular self and months before she could go back to daycare.

"Scarlett, look at all these goodies everyone brought you. Aunt Jane made you a basket will all types of toys. Isn't that so nice?" Jessica smiles

"I like the doll." She says grabbing it gently from the basket

Whenever Scarlett was feeling anxious, Jessica always found a way to cheer her up.

"Grandma and Grandpa Huston go you barbies too. Isn't that so sweet? When you see them again we'll have to say thank you." Jessica says

"I like barbies!" She smiles cutely

"I know baby girl! They're all so beautiful just like you."

Then, Scarlett goes quite. Her face freezes. At first, Jessica was preparing herself for another seizure. But, in a matter of seconds she just began to cry.

"Sweetie! What's wrong?" Jessica says picking her up and setting her in her lap

"I'm scared, mama! It hurted." She says pointing to her head

"Don't be scared, baby. Does your head hurt right now?"

"It hurted here." She says pointing to the spot where she had stitches

Seeing Scarlett in so much pain just over a few stitches scared her for the pain she'd be in after surgery.

"When it's all done you and I are going to do something special to celebrate what a strong little girl you are. Okay baby?" Jessica says

"Okay." She sniffles, wiping her tears.

One day before surgery-

Before Jessica would be stuck at the hospital for most likely, another week, she wanted to go back to her parents, catch up on some sleep, and see Wyatt and Jack.

The boys weren't adjusting well to this whole situation. Jack was still little and needed Jessica all the time. For Wyatt he needed Jessica, but mostly his little partner in crime, Scarlett.

After catching up on some sleep, packing some more things for the hospital, and pumping a lot, Jessica decided to take the boys out for a few hours. Even though jack was too young to enjoy the bouncy castle park, Wyatt was so excited.

Dorthy and Albert stayed at the hospital with Scarlett. Luckily she was very sleepy and didn't notice Jessica not being near by.

Dorthy and Albert's POV-

While Jessica was out with the boys for a few hours Albert and Dorthy spent the day at the hospital with Scarlett.

Jane, Ann, and George visited as well. They wanted Scarlett to feel extra happy being around all of her family and she was. Her uncle George was one of her favorites. He loved making her laugh and giggle.

Since Scarlett would be in the hospital for a while Jane, Ann, and Dorthy decorated the room with all kinds of purple decor, it was her favorite color. The decorations really lit up the room and brought a smile to her face.

"Papa silly!" Scarlett giggles uncontrollably as Albert walked around wearing a funky purple skirt that was Scarlett's.

"Albert! You look hilarious!" Dorthy chuckles

"That's the point! Look at the smile on the sweet girls face." He says pointing to Scarlett

"Oh! Jessica just texted.
Scarlett, mama is on her way!" Ann smiles

"Yay!"

"She's bringing your brothers! You can all have lots of playtime." Jane adds

As the room got louder and louder with more and more chaos they were interrupted by the loud door leading to the room opening. They were afraid it was the nurses telling them to be quite so everyone hushed.

As they wait for the curtain to open, everyone's jaw dropped when they saw Scarlett.

When Scarlett were set on her father, she went blank. She couldn't believe her eyes. She didn't know how to react, it had been so long. It was almost as if she forgot him.

The adults on the other hand were flaming. They couldn't believe their eyes either. Danny actually showed up. He actually looked healthy.

He gained some weight back, he was dressed very well, his five o'clock shadow was gone, he looked great. Everyone was so shocked.

"Hey... i didn't expect it to be a party in here." Danny says awkwardly

He could feel the tension. All eyes were on him. Everyone had their arms crossed and lips pursed.

"Dada!" Scarlett says standing up on the bed and jumping in the air.

Danny ignored everyone and ran to his daughter. It was so hard for him to see her so sick and he wished it wasn't on these terms but he needed his daughter in his arms. He softly cried.

"My princess! Daddy missed you." He says picking her up and holding her in his arms.

"Daniel, put her down. She's fragile." Albert says sternly

"She's my daughter. Maybe you should leave. Where is Jessica?" He asks looking around the room

"Come on, Boys. Not in front of the child." Dorthy says

"You have a lot of nerve coming here." George says walking up to Danny

"George, Stop." Ann says trying to pull him away when she sees his fist clenched.

"Back off, alright. This is my family. I'm here for Scarlett whether you like it or not. I screwed up big time, I know. But just let me be a father." Danny asks sincerely

"Let's just give Scarlett and Danny some time, dad." Ann says

"No, he's not going to be alone with anyone."

"Al, come on." Danny says with Scarlett in his arms

"No. You almost killed Jessica and Jack. Do you remember that?" Albert raises his voice

"Albert! That's enough!" Dorthy says

As angry as she was with Danny, she didn't want Scarlett to see her grandfather and father so upset. It was important that Scarlett was under no stress or sadness.

Albert takes a few steps back and rolls his eyes.

"Its funny that you think you can waltz in here looking all healthy and apologize for all the shit you've done. If you want to play super dad, play super dad. But never forget what a piece of shit you are." Albert says sternly, storming out of the room.

The room grows quite and awkward. Danny trues to block out everyone else and focus on Scarlett.

"How's daddy's baby girl?" He says sitting on the bed with her

"I shake again." She says with sadness

"Aww, baby. But you're so strong and can get through it. Just like the last time, right?" Danny says

"Yes! Where mama?" She says looking around

Jane comes up to Scarlett and smiles. "She's on her way with Wyatt and Jack! She's bringing your favorite, chick-fil-a!" Jane says happily sitting on the other side of Scarlett

Once everyone sees that Jane would be the one to stay in the room and keep an eye on Danny, Dorthy, Ann, and George left the room.

"Mmm, chicken!" Danny says

Scarlett chuckles "Jack is small. So small." Scarlett says pinching her fingers

"I bet! You used to be little too."

Jane picked up on Danny's sadness very quickly as soon as jack was brought up.

Jane hated Danny for all he had put Jessica and their children through. She could never forgive him, but no one ever said she couldn't feel sorry for him. Danny used to be a great man to Jessica. It was hard to see him go down such a bad path. Now, he was paying for his mistakes. One of the consequences is not having his family. He's missed so much, especially with Jack.

Out of pitty, Jane pulled up a picture of Jack and showed Danny. She didn't look at him or say a word, she just handed him a picture taken a few days ago for Jessica.

Danny started to cry. His little baby boy that he only had a few days with grew up so fast.

"Wow..." Danny cries

"Dada?" Scarlett says wiping a tear from Danny's face

"One second, Princess." Danny says, excusing himself and saving himself the embarrassment.

He steps out of the room and closes the door behind him. He covers his face and cries.

Then suddenly, he feels a strong force push him up against the door and smack his head.

He opens his watery eyes and sees George right in his face.

"Get off of me!" Danny says trying to push him off

"How dare you lay a hand on my sister! How dare you! You almost killed her. I'm going to put you in the same amount of pain you put her in, you bastard!" He says grabbing his wrists even tighter

"George, man, please. That man that did those things to Jessica wasn't me. You and I were close, you know me... that wasn't me. Just let me go." Danny pleas

"You're an asshole. You'll always be and asshole and you've always been. What will make you get out of their lives? What will it take?" George says, tightening his grip

"I'm their father... Jessica called me." Danny says trying to push George off of him.

Danny tried to look around and hope that someone would take George off of him. Not a single person was in sight.

With his strongest hand, George swings at Danny's face. He punches him so hard that Danny falls to the floor. Blood immediately starts to fall from his face.

George goes down with Danny and punches him again.

"You fucker! You hurt my sister!" George says, swinging yet another punch.

"George! Stop it!"

Both men hear a familiar voice, Jessica. She had Wyatt next to her and jack in her arms.

George quickly gets off Danny and wipes the sweat off his forehead.

Danny stays on the floor and hold his bloody nose.

Jane comes out of the room and was shocked to see what was going on.

Jessica was furious.

"Jane, take the boys." Jessica says quickly handing her Wyatt and Jack. She didn't take her eyes off Danny and George.

"What the hell!" Jessica says to George

Then, when everyone hears Jessica yelling, they all coming running over, along with a nurse and security guard.

"George! What did you do!" Dorthy cries

No one helped Danny. Jessica just stood there and watched him bleed and bleed. He bled just as much as she did when Danny punched her.

"Did this man do this to you?" The security guard asks Danny as he holds George in his arms

"I'm fine, you can let him go." Danny says standing up

"That's the man you need to get out of here." Albert says pointing to Danny

Danny didn't even put up a fight. He just stood there, helpless. His eyes met directly with Jessica's. They both know that he deserved what he got.

"Stop it! That's enough!" Jessica says to her father

Everyone stops. When Jessica raises her voice, they knew she meant business.

"Please, let him go. I deserved what I got." He said to the security guard.

He lets George go and George steps as far away as possible from him.

"This is a very scary time.... the last thing Scarlett and I need is everyone beating up on each other and causing drama. Please, can we just focus on that baby girl in there and put everything else behind us?" She says with tears in her eyes

When Albert and George saw how upset Jessica was, they immediately felt so guilty. Dorthy came over to Jessica and hugged her tightly.

"Sir, let me clean you up." The nurse says

Danny looks at Jessica and she sighs "Go on, ill meet you back in her room." Jessica says

Danny nods then follows the nurse into another room.

"Jess, I'm so sorry." George says

"Thanks, but he's the father of my children, George. This isn't the time or place."

"I was just so angry."

"I am too... but this is all about Scarlett, nobody else." Jessica says sternly

"Do you want us in there when you're with him?"

"No... it's fine. He won't do anything in front of the children."

About thirty minutes later Danny came into Scarlett's room. It was just Jessica, the kids, and Danny.

Scarlett and Wyatt played while Jessica fed Jack.

It was very awkward when Danny walked in. It had been almost five months since Jessica had last seen or heard from him.

"Dada!" Wyatt says running into his father's arms

Danny picks him up and spins him around. Jessica smiled a little when she saw how happy Wyatt was to see his father.

"Hey buddy! Look how big you are." Danny chuckles

"Wait, imma play." He says getting down. He got distracted quickly and wanted to go back to playing on the iPad.

Danny walked over to Jessica as she cleaned herself and Jack up from his feeding.

Jack started to fuss and Jessica was not feeling it.

"Can I?" He asks, offering to calm him down.

Jessica slowly hands Jack to Danny and he starts to cry.... it was very emotional for Danny. One of his biggest regrets was letting his family go. This was the second time he ever held Jack.

"Hey, look at you... you're so big." Danny say

Jack immediately stops crying. But Danny then begins to tear up even more.

Jack started to smile when he saw his father.

"Jess, he looks just like you. I can't believe how much he's grown." Danny says with sadness

"He's happy to be in your arms." Jessica says softly
