Going Home
The next day-
Jessica was out with her parents, siblings, and the babies. Danny was at the house alone. He decided to drive up to campus to see Sam. He worked at a playhouse behind a coffee shop. He had felt so guilty about what he said to Sam. He was embarrassed and ashamed of himself. He needed to make things right and apologize.
Danny waited in the parking lot. He was anxious and nervous. He saw Sam walk out of the building. That was his chance... to run up and apologize. Danny swung the car door open and ran to him.
"Sam, hey!" Danny says
Sam takes a deep breath and stares at him. "Danny, what are you doing here?" He asks
"Listen, I really need to apologize. The things I said and did yesterday were so uncalled for."
"Did you think I was trying to make a move on Jessica?" Sam snaps
Danny sighs and rubs his eyes. "I think so."
"Maybe we can sit down and talk or something. I'd really just like to talk." Danny says sincerely.
"Umm, yea let's get a table at the cafe."

Danny and Sam sat across from each other. It was awkward at first. They didn't say anything. They causally just drank their coffee and stared into space. Sam had enough.
"Danny, listen I never want you to have the impression that I'd try to take Jessica from you or anything like that. I get that Jessica and I are over but I just want to be her friend. Not only was she my girlfriend but my best friend. I hated losing that relationship. So once I heard that she wanted to be my friend I took the chance." Sam utters
"I get that. It's just a lots been going on and I got jealous. I hadn't seen her in weeks I just thought the worst. When I saw her with you she just looked so happy. The things I said I didn't mean, I don't know anything about you and you didn't deserve for those things to be said."
"You're right... you don't know anything about me or Jessica and i's relationship. We were together for seven years. I loved her with all my heart and everything I did was for her. We were in love. I left for the marines because I couldn't afford college. I wanted to be able to graduate college so I could marry her. It all came crashing down when I left. I beat myself up everyday for leaving. But now I see how happy she is with the babies and I couldn't be happier for her. It's a shame what happened but.... I made the same mistake while I was at camp. I stayed an extra week for someone else instead of going back to Jessica. Us being apart like that just proved that maybe we are better off. My point is... I don't want you to have the impression that I didn't care about her because I did and I still do. I just ask that you take care of her and love her unconditionally. She's an amazing woman. You've only known her for a short time but there is so much for you to learn about her and come to love about her. I can't say that I'll ever stop loving her because I won't. She was a big part of my life."
"I understand.... I hope we can put this behind us and you can maybe answer Jessica's calls. I don't want you to be upset with her because of me. I take back everything.... really."
"Thank you. And I'm sorry for what I said."

That night Danny got home and saw Jessica laying on the couch with the twins.
"Daddy's home!" She exclaims
"Aww how are daddy's little monkeys?" He says picking them both up.
Jessica smiles as she watches Danny bounce them around and make them giggle.
"Where were you?" Jessica asks curiously.
"I went to see Sam." Danny nods
Jessica widened her eyes "You did what?"
"Don't worry, I just apologized. I felt so guilty I just needed to take everything back. It's all good now, I promise."
Jessica quivered her lip. She sat up and wrapped her arms around Danny.
"Thank you for doing that. I really do appreciate it." Jessica says sincerely.

The day Danny and Jessica leave-
It was one of the most painful mornings. Everything of Jessica's was packed up into the car. The room that she stayed in for a month was empty as if there was no evidence that she had stayed. The babies toys were no longer at every corner of the house and Jessica's shoes didn't sit by the door. Jessica held it all in and tried to enjoy her last few hours with her family that all came over for breakfast. Danny and Jessica planned to get on the road by noon.
This was the day that Jessica had dreaded, leaving Minnesota. Now that Danny was with her she was looking forward to getting her life back on track. She didn't think she'd leave but she talked herself out of it. Danny was so happy to bring his family home. This day was the day he had waited for.
Dorthy prepared a huge breakfast for the family. Jane, Ann, and Chase all came over. They all sat around the dinning room table. Dorthy seemed discouraged. She was so used to waking up to the babies every morning. She wasn't ready to say goodbye.
This was the last time Jessica would see her family for a while. Not until the holidays.
"God everyone is so sad. Can't we all be happy?" George whines
Dorthy wipes her eyes and nods. "Yes, we should all be happy." She takes Albert's hand and kisses it.
"Jessica is going back to the city. She's a city girl." Jane exclaims
"I plan on coming out and visiting. I hope you know that." Ann says sternly
"Of course! You'll have to bring Chase so the babies can see each other." Jessica smiles
"You are all always welcome. Whenever you want to visit just give us a call." Danny says
"We will take you up on that offer one of these days." George says
"Great!" Jessica smiles

Around noon Jessica's sisters left. It was just George, Albert, and Dorthy. Dorthy was a mess as Jessica packed in the last of her things.
She came up behind Jessica and held her tight. She swayed them back and forth then broke away from her. Everyone was inside. It was just the two of them.
"You are so strong Jessica. You always make me so proud. When you go back home it will all be so refreshing and you'll be so happy. Take care of yourself. Call me, send pictures of the babies, and always come back." Dorthy starts to cry.
"Thank you for helping me so much, mom. I'm strong because of you. Thank you for opening your doors to me and just being here. It's been a rough few weeks but I pulled through."
"You did. You are just such an amazing person! God I'll miss you and the babies!"
"You and dad deserve a break from the loudness." Jessica chuckles
"Sadly we have a bunch of teenagers coming over for a bonfire." Albert giggles walking up behind Dorthy.
"Haha, you'll have fun with that." Jessica says hugging her dad.
"We are just a call away, Jessie. Always remember that."
"I will."
"Well everything's packed. Are you ready?" Danny says kissing Jessica's cheek.
Jessica bites her lip and nods. Dorthy and Albert say goodbye to the babies and strap them in.
"Thank you for having me. I hope to see you all soon." Danny hugs them goodbye then smiles.
"We love you both. Always come again!"
**
Jessica and Danny drove off in the car holding hands. Jessica looked out the window and cried silently.
"Jess, are you okay?"
"Hmmm? Yea I'm fine." She bluffs
"We'll be back soon."
"I hope so."
