A Second Chance
Two Months Later:
Today was the day that Jessica was being released from the hospital. After three months of terror she was able to put a little bit of the accident behind her. She wasn't going home to the comfort of her own home, though. She was really going home to nothing. Everything she owned and worked for was gone and she had to start fresh. For now, she would be staying with her parents.
The accident took a lot from Jessica. She was still trying to learn how to function on her own again. She had some brain damage from the coma, but she had a lot of support.
Her burns were a constant reminder of the fire. She still had her struggled and nightmares, but kept a lot
Of the pain to herself. She saw how everything that happened changed everyone around her. Nothing was the same nor would it ever be. She lived in constant frustration and felt like she lost her freedom. Her life was taken from her. Even though she had a second chance.

"Do you have everything you need?" Sam says as Jessica gets out of the bed she had been glued to for the last three months
Jessica runs her fingers through her hair and looks around the dark cold room.
She shakes her head then looks at Sam. "I don't need anything from this place." She says
Sam sighs and takes her hands. "This has been a lot for you. I'm proud of you for getting this far. You're going home." He says, trying to comfort Jessica.
Jessica wasn't the same person that she used to be. She was unhappy. It was very rare to see a smile on her face anymore. It was understandable. Everyone tried to help her through it, but they couldn't. She just pushed everyone away.
"What home? The one that's it shambles?" She hisses

The car ride to Dorthy's was very emotional. Jessica was scared to be away from the hospital. For months she was under the care of professionals who knew her inside and out. Jessica's lungs weren't fully healed and she still needed oxygen support throughout the night, she just feared that something may happen.
Everyone waited for Sam and Jessica to arrive. This was a big milestone for Jessica and the family. The fire seemed to rip everyone apart, but now that she was okay it put them all back together. Jessica still had a long way to go and had a lot of struggles, but that was what everyone was there for... to help her.

When Sam and Jessica arrived, he helped Jessica to the door. Before she opened the door she turned to Sam with sad eyes.
"Sam.... you've done so much for me. I feel like I've taken your life away." She mumbles
He shakes his head and denies it. "You haven't taken anything from me, Jessie. I'm here for you, always."
"None of this is fair to you. Now that I'm out of the hospital I have to rely on people who aren't my doctors and don't get paid to take care of me all day. I just hate it." She utters
"Don't feel that way. It's all a work in progress. I promise." He says
Jessica stares into Sam's eyes for a moment then slowly opens the door. Her and Sam were both startled when the family shouts "Welcome home!". Sam didn't even know this was planned. If he had known, he would have shut it down. Jessica wasn't in the mood for this.
She became very overwhelmed and didn't know how to react.
"Welcome home, sweetie!" Dorthy says running up to her daughter and giving her the biggest hug.
"Wow, this is all really nice." Sam says
"I didn't want this." Jessica says softly
"What honey?" Dorthy smiles
"This isn't home." She says in a louder tone
"Jessica, what's wrong?" Her dad asks
The room goes from happy to quite. Everyone caught on quickly that Jessica wasn't feeling it. Jessica looks
Around the room with watery eyes and didn't see her children anywhere.
"I don't want this!" She shouts
Dorthy jumps back and puts her hand on her chest.
"I think Jessica is tired." Sam says
"No. There is nothing to celebrate and you're celebrating. This isn't what I asked for in life! I just want my kids!" She cries
"Jessie, we didn't mean to upset you." Dorthy says taking her hand
Jessica pulls it away and closes her eyes. "I just want to sleep." She says
"There is something to celebrate, Jessica. You're alive." Her sister Jane snaps
"Jane, not now." Ann tries to stop her
"Jane." Dorthy hisses
"I just want to be alone." Jessica says walking away.

Later that night:
Sam was staying with Jessica while she was living with Dorthy and Albert. Jessica only really wanted to be around Sam. He was the only one she could keep her cool with. Jessica was depressed and had every right to be. Her life flashed before her eyes and she had a very traumatic event happen in her life. She had a lot of healing to do. Her children being hundreds of miles away didn't do any good for Jessica.
Danny and Jessica had a falling out not too long ago. In retaliation, he took the kids back to New York with him. Everyone was fighting to get him to come back, but he didn't budge. It was a heartbreaking situation.
Everyone had left Jessica's parents house. It was quite and empty. While Jessica was sleeping Sam came downstairs to give Dorthy and Albert some company.
"Is she okay?" Dorthy asks desperately
"She's very emotional. But she's showered and in bed." Sam says softly
"I knew the kids not being here today would be hard for her. I just wish Danny wasn't such an ass. I wish I knew what happened that made him do this."'
Sam shakes his head. "She won't say. But I'm going to make sure she gets her kids back."

Three weeks ago:
Danny came back and forth from New York due to work but Scarlett, Wyatt, and Jack stayed with Danny's parents while he was gone. It was important that the kids stayed close to Jessica during her recovery to keep her in good spirits.
After Jessica's physical therapy Danny stopped by with the kids. They were so little and didn't really understand what was wrong with Jessica, but they still had smiles on their faces.
"He's getting so big." Jessica smiles as she holds her sleepy baby in her arms. Jack has the smallest smile on his face as he slept.
"He's heavier too." Danny chuckles
Jessica watches her two oldest babies play together at the edge of the bed then looks at Danny with sad eyes.
"Why are they so perfect?" Jessica says
"Because you are their mother." Danny says standing up and coming to Jessica's bedside.
"Thanks for stepping up."
When Danny watched Jessica with the kids his heart just ached
"Of course. There's something I need to say." Danny sayS
"Anything." Jessica smiles
"The thought of you dying scared me half to death. I kept asking myself what I'd do without you. Now that you're okay I feel like weights have been lifted off my shoulders. I don't know what I would have done." He says
Jessica starts to tear up then takes Danny's hand. "You don't need me to be a great dad, Danny. You've proven that. You would have been okay." She smiles
Danny leans in and before Jessica could blink he goes in for a kiss.
Jessica shoves him off of her and gasps. "What the hell!" She yells
"I'm sorry... I just."
"You just what?" She says, trying not to cause a scene in front of the kids.
"I want you, Jessica."
Jessica couldn't believe what she was hearing.
"I want you to come back to New York with the kids and I. Back to our home In New York. Think about it."
"Are you out of your mind? No! Danny, are over and we have been over." Jessica says
"... and you're not taking the kids back to New York. Minnesota is their home." Jessica Adds
"I believe you." He says
"Me? Danny how could you? We have been over."
"The kids are coming back with me to New York with or without you!" He shouts
This had all come out of no where. Danny had been
Great to Jessica these last few weeks. Now she saw his agenda and she couldn't believe it.
"No, you're not."
"Watch me. Scarlett, Wyatt, lets go!" He says
"No, danny!"
