Chapter 3
When Chris and I finished the dishes, we walked back into the living room. Hyunjin, Seungmin, and Jeongin went back to their own rooms, as well as Changbin and Felix. Minho and Jisung were still curled up in their spot on the floor, and I giggled to myself as Minho sleepily draped an arm across Jisung's waist.
I turned to Chan, not realizing how close we were standing. He turned to look at me and smiled, tucking a stand off hair behind my ear. "Goodnight, Y/N." He leaned down and kissed my forehead before turning to go to his room.
I stood the for a bit, in a state of confused, tingly paralysis. Did that really just happen?? I went to my room and got in the shower, leaving Jisung and Minho alone.
I washed my hair, washed my body and just stood there under the water letting the thoughts from the last few days run through my mind.
I thought about how easily Chris knocked out my attacker, then the complete 360 he did when it came to these boys. It seemed strange to me, that was, until I factored in the occupation they had. Even still, to be able to pull something like that off and then come home and cook and care for a group of energetic boys requires a strength few people have nowadays.
I thought about how normal it was for them to lay together, to bicker like siblings and cuddle after all of it was done. I thought about Felix, how much he had gone through, and how cold he'd seemed at first. The fact that he was willing to let his guard down, and how he comforted me after hearing my story despite just meeting me.
They should all be in high school if not graduated, much less in a gang, I thought to myself. They were all sweet boys, its ridiculous that they have to go through all this. I decided then and there that I would care for them as much as I could, for as long as I could, starting with making them breakfast the next morning.
It had been about ten minutes before I realized that I had just been standing there, and I finally finished my shower, toweling off and stepping out on to the cold tile. I dressed in some leggings and a cute, oversized t-shirt that Felix had picked out. I brushed my teeth, washed my face, and walked over to the balcony window as I brushed my hair.
As I looked back at my bed, I realized that Chris's hoodie was laying next to one of my pillows. I put it on, pulling the hood up over my damp hair. I looked around for my phone, then I remembered I had set it in one of the top nightstand drawers while we made the bed so I wouldn't knock it off the bed. However, when I looked inside the drawer, it was not my phone I found but a note and an iPod.
"I really am sorry for taking your phone, Y/N, but we couldn't risk those attackers tracking you here. I hope this allows you to still listen to your music
-Kim Seungmin"
I smiled, grabbing the iPod and plugging in my headphones. Does it suck not having my phone? Obviously. But I understand the reasoning behind the action. I was ecstatic to find out I could still set an early enough alarm. "5 o'clock alarm set". I laid down in my bed, relaxing, as some of my favorite songs began to play.
*time skip to the morning*
When my alarm went off, I shot like a rocket out of bed. I took off Chan's hoodie, folding it neatly and laying it down on the edge of my bed.
When I tiptoed into the hall, I heard the TV going, but no one was out there. I was able to get to the kitchen without making too much noise, thankfully. I walked over to the fridge, put my hair up in a messy bun and opened up the door. I grabbed what I needed, then shut the door, setting the ingredients on the island before going over to the pantry and grabbing the pancake mix, walking back over to the island.
*Another time skip because do we really need to go over the intricacies of making pancakes?*
When each plate of pancakes was done, I set them in a line on the counter. Topping them all with fresh strawberries, I decided to pull the chocolate syrup out from the fridge and put their initials on top. I took a clean metal spoon and a glass and stood in the hallway where everyone's rooms were. I started tapping the spoon on the glass. "Boys!! I made breakfast!! Head to the dining room!! Come and get it!!"
Almost immediately, I heard stumbling around. I decided to head back to the kitchen and started to stack all the plates on the tray to carry to the dining room. I quickly went and set everyone's plates in their spot from two nights before and noticed that they all had little animals on the back. How cute, I thought to myself. I was on my way back out to the kitchen when I saw Hyunjin and Changbin on their way to the dining room.
"Good morning Changbin, Hyunjin." I smiled at them. Changbin gave me a tiny wave while he yawned. Hyunjin smiled back. "Good morning, Y/N." He said sleepily.
I went back to the kitchen with the tray and grabbed my own plate as well as 9 glasses, and the containers of apple juice and orange juice.
When I walked back out, everyone but Jisung was seated at the table. "He's extra cranky in the mornings," a slightly dreary Chan explained. "That's fine," I smiled to myself. "I'll just eat with him later. Why were you boys all so quick to respond?"
Chris yawned. "We have a mission today. Can't give any details or Seungmin will have my throat."
The puppy-like boy smiled and nodded. I set down the juices and the 7 glasses, taking mine and Jisung's plates back to the kitchen. Then, I headed back to my room, laying down on my bed for a little while.
Eventually, when I went back out, I noticed Jisung sitting on the couch, blanked out staring at the TV. I could tell he wasn't paying attention because his eyes seemed to focus more towards the bottom. I walked into the kitchen to grab the tray and laid our plates on top, grabbing our cups and the apple juice from out of the fridge.
"Jisungiee I made us breakfast!!" His head whipped around and his face went from somber to a bright and beautiful smile. I went and plopped down next to him on the couch, setting up the tray to where we could eat off of it like it was a table.
He smiled when he saw the glasses and this morning's beverage of choice. "FINALLY someone gets me some damn apple juice!"
We laughed and continued eating & talking while the TV was on in the background. Eventually, he turned to me. "Y/N, I've been meaning to ask. What did you do before you came to us?"
I looked at him quizzically. "Like all of it or just the recent stuff?" He half-smiled. "All of it, as long as you're comfortable."
I smiled back. "It's alright, I suppose since I told Felix already I'll tell you as well."
And so there we sat, TV near-silent in the background as I poured my story into the hands of one of these boys for the 2nd time.
