Chapter 2

(AN: Hey everyone! For most of this story, Im going to censor the curse words :| which ik is weird given how My Kangaroo went, but I'm currently updating smile on my school laptop and they get weird about cursing and those kinds of things so other than that not much else to the story will change)

I opened my eyes after a long night's rest, grateful to be greeted by the beautiful morning sun. When I took off the covers, I noticed there were some grey slippers by the bedside. I slid them on, thankful that they were my size and got up, walking over to the bathroom. When I walked in and saw the barren counters, I remembered that I didn't have anything I needed for my regular routine. Sighing, I ran my hands through my messy hair and pulled it up into a ponytail. When I walked back out, I noticed something on the chair next to the doors that led out to the balcony. I picked it up and saw that it was a grey hoodie, much like the one that Chan was wearing last night. I picked up and read the note that was next to it.

Here's something for you to put on. It may be a bit big on you but at least it's clean! -Channie

I smiled softly at the note and pulled the grey hoodie on and my black jeans from the day before. Chan was right, I laughed to myself. This is definitely big on me.

I walked out into the living room to see Jisung and Changbin sitting on the couch, watching something together on the TV. They both looked at me and waved. I smiled and waved back, then headed over to the kitchen, where I noticed Chris working at the stove. Before I could look away, he turned around and met my gaze.

"Goodmorning, Y/N."

"Goodmorning to you too, Chan. Thanks for the hoodie," I smiled at him. He nodded and turned back to the stove.

"Breaky should be ready here in a few, so if you'd like to, you can go ahead and get something to drink and go sit in the living room and I'll bring you your plate."

I smiled at him. "Thank you." I opened up a cabinet, got myself a glass and poured myself some apple juice before walking back out to the living room. I sat on the couch opposite Changbin (Jisung was on his other side), turning my attention to what was on TV. They were watching the news. Great.

"What's your name?"

I turned my attention to where the voice came from, and Jisung was looking at me.

"Me?" I asked him.

"No," he laughed, "that nice looking wall behind you."

He gave you a sarcastic smile and you giggled a little bit. "I'm Y/N."

"Nice to meet you Y/N, I'm Jisung, and this is Changbin." He said, pointing to the dark haired boy between us. I turned my attention back to the TV while I drank out of my glass. Soon enough, Chan walked out of the kitchen with a plate of food and handed it to me. 2 pancakes with bacon and eggs; I smiled at the sight.

Jisung let out a joking scoff. "Yah! You make our Guest of Honor breakfast but I can't even get a cup of apple juice? What world is this?"

I laughed at his little outburst then dug into the home-made plate in front of me, trying to finish quickly since I was going out with Felix today. When I finished eating, I went and put the dishes in the sink.

When I walked back out, Felix was standing there in an all black outfit with a black cap and face mask on to match. He held a mask out to you. "Ready to go?" I nodded then went and put on my old black converse that I had left by the bedroom door, walking back to where Felix was after I had finished. He looked down at my shoes then back up at me. "When we get to the store, those are the first things to go." I laughed at his remark. "Well, excuse me."

He smiled and opened up the door for me. "You're excused." We made our way to the car, a matte black 4 door 4 runner, and I got into the passenger's seat.

When we arrived at the mall, I spotted my favorite clothing store. I tugged on Felix's arm and dragged him into the store. He was following me around and stopped me when I tried to put something back.

"You pick out whatever you want, I'm covering it." I looked at him, slightly surprised. "And where is all this money coming from?" He shrugged his shoulders, "Don't worry about it."

We walked over to another rack and he started sorting through it's contents. Though, based on his opinion of my shoes, I can't say that I'm very surprised. After a little while, he pulled out a cute grey sweater and held it up to me, silently nodding to himself and placing it in the basket. It was nice being able to shop with Felix, he definitely had an amazing sense of style. Myself on the other hand, not so much.

After a bit more browsing, we wandered over to the dressing rooms. The first outfit I tried on was some black, ripped skinny jeans, a white crop top and a black bomber jacket. Coming out of the dressing room, Felix looked at me, the most dead serious look on his face and said "Give it a spin." I laughed. "Do what?" He stayed stone-faced. "Give it a spin, it can't hurt."

I laughed slowly twirling around. When I was done, he nodded, "Chan would like it." That distracted me for a second. What would Chris have to do with anything? We went back and forth for some time, Felix vetoing some outfits, others earning his stamp of approval. Eventually, we settled on a few of the outfits and some extra pieces for the wardrobe before paying & leaving.

Next, Felix dragged me into a shoe store. "When we get home you're going to burn whatever those things are on your feet and then throw away the ashes." I laughed at his dramatics, knowing that part of him was serious. We picked out three pairs of converse (one white, one red, one black), and a black pair of combat boots. I grabbed a few pairs of socks and then he paid for it all and we left the store.

After a while, we both got hungry and stopped at a pizza place in the food court. I had challenged him to an eating contest so we ended up ordering a large pepperoni and two drinks. After eating in silence, we started making small talk, attempting to get to know each other better since it became more and more obvious that I was going to be with these boys for a while.

"If it's not too intrusive, why are there so many of you?"

He seemed to be pondering his answer for some time before selling on something. "Really, it's all because of Chan." And for the first time that afternoon, I saw raw emotion on his face.

"He found all of us. Me, I was in a foster home and wasn't doing too great. I ran away and stopped at a convenience store, Chan caught me stealing but didn't turn me in. It felt like he knew what I was going through. After that day, I always went back, hoping to see him again. One day, I got mugged, someone was stealing the golden gay times I had just stolen and then he stopped them. He took me in after that."

I listened intently to his story. Chan was so careful and considerate of the others. Fiercely protective as well, it seemed. I wonder what else he had done for the other boys.

"I want the first to join, that was Jisung and Changbin." Felix smiled to himself. "Jisung has always been more self-conscious, and Changbin shut everyone out all the time. The only one he ever willingly let past his walls is Chan-hyung. I guess we all see him as an older brother/role model that none of us had."

I watched as his expression started to change more, this was clearly a sensitive topic for him. I placed my hand on his on the table. "I understand that it's difficult to talk about. You don't have to keep going." He nodded and looked up at me, as I smiled back reassuringly. We both got up, threw away our trash and went on to the next store.

We went through the makeup and body care stores fairly quickly, since he let me handle it on my own. After that I grabbed bras, underwear & tampons. He looked so funny standing in the outside of the store, almost like he was too afraid to come in.

After all that, we went to a home decor shop. I picked out a navy blue bed set and some white, fluffy pillows. Felix picked out some candles and some throw pillows/blankets for the balcony and paid for everything.

On our way out, I saw something that grabbed my immediate attention and I squealed. Felix turned on his heels so fast I thought he was going to fall. "What's the matter!!?! Are you alright?!?!"

I pointed behind him and he face-palmed. "No way. Not happening." I grabbed his arm and attempted to pull him in there, only this time around I was met with much more resistance. He looked at me with an amused expression. "Done yet?" I gave my best puppy eyes, pouting and internally pleading for him to cave. He finally grinned and let me pull him in.

I looked around for quite some time, there didn't appear to be anything that called out to me and then I saw it. It was a grey Kangaroo plush, and I immediately grabbed it. You turned around to Felix and hugged the kangaroo close to your chest. Felix smirked. "That's the one?" I smiled brightly. "This is the one." He paid for it and we left the mall.

Time Skip

When we arrived home, Felix and I walked through the door to be greeted by a mouthwatering aroma. Sure enough, Hyunjin, Jisung and Jeongin were crowded around the entrance to the kitchen, begging to taste whatever Chris was making. The boys all turned around and greeted us before turning back to Chan.

Hyunjin walked over. "I see the shopping spree was successful." I smiled as Felix let out a warm laugh. "You could say something like that." Felix grabbed the rest of the bags from the 4 runner before taking them to the room. I turned to him when he walked in. "I set the clothes down by the balcony for now, I thought maybe we could decorate together? If you're not busy." He smiled. "Sure, why not. After all, you did promise you would burn those ratty foot-covers you call shoes." I laughed.

We spent the next two hours putting away clothes, stocking up the bathroom, and making the bed. As we went it to the balcony, I felt a cool breeze across my face. I leaned on the rail and shut my eyes.

"So," I heard Felix say, "What's your story? Since you know mine." I sighed as I turned around to face the water.

"Well, my father died in a car accident when he was taking me to my first day of 3rd grade. The car flipped over. I was able to crawl through my broken window, but that's how I got this," I say as I lifted up the side of my shirt to show a small, jagged scar running horizontally across the side of my stomach.

"By the time paramedics got there, he was gone. I missed the first week of 3rd grade. A few days after the funeral, my mom came home really late and fired the baby sitter on the spot. She smelled really bad. She came up the stairs and started banging on my door, telling me it was my fault. That I should have warned him about the light. She's gotten worse since then. That's why I had all that money in my purse when Chris found me, my coworker had given me her split of our tips and I was gonna catch a train ticket out of the city and start over somewhere new to get away from her."

Felix walked up behind me and put an arm around my shoulder. "I am so sorry that you've had to deal with that for so long. As long as we're here, we will protect you as best as we can. Okay?" I nodded. "Thank you, Felix."

"I'm gonna go see what the other boys are doing, but come to me if you ever need anything, okay? I'll be there." I smiled and nodded as he walked back inside and left the room. I stayed outside for a little while longer, enamored with the color palette of the sky due to the setting sun. Such a view is indescribable.

After a bit, I came inside and walked out into the living room to find the boys arguing over what movie to watch. It was between Rio, Harry Potter & The Chamber of Secrets, and Rise of the Guardians. Ultimately, Rise of the Guardians won, to my delight. I gazed at the scene from a distance at first, admiring the happy family. Some were cuddling, some playing gawi bawi bo, it was endearing.

Jisung noticed me by myself and pulled me over, I grabbed some snacks while everyone decided whether or not they would be sitting on the couch or the floor. I opted for sitting on the floor in front of Chan, but he instead gave me his seat on the couch and sat in front of me. Through the movie I found myself subconsciously playing with his hair. I know the other boys saw it, but no one said a word.

By the end of the movie, most of the guys had fallen asleep. Chan got up and tucked everyone into their blankets, then went to go do dishes. Minho & Jisung were curled up by the coffee table, Jeongin was asleep in Hyunjin's lap as Seungmin's head rested on his shoulder, Hyunjin's head resting on Seungmin's. Felix was sound asleep to my right and Changbin was asleep on his shoulder as well.

I got up, grabbed the last few plates and went to go help Chan with the dishes. I set the dirty ones down in the left side of the sink and grabbed a sponge, scrubbing the plate clean before finding and setting it in the right. Chris gently grabbed the sponge from me and turned the water off. "You shouldn't have to do this while you're here, Y/N, since it's us that are keeping you."

I smiled softly and grabbed the sponge back before running the water again and continuing to wash up. "You've all done so much for me, welcomed me in to your home, the least I can do is help you all in return, however I am able to."

Chris shook his head. "You don't need to do anything for us, Y/N."

I grinned softly at him. "I want to, Chris."

He looked at me for a moment and smiled. I admired his smile. The way his eyes formed slight crescents, his dimples, the look of overall sweetness. "Like what you see?" He asked jokingly. As I finished the last dish and set it aside, I splashed him slightly with water before drying myself off. "I just like your smile."
