"No!" Rubypaw yowled and sank her fangs into Forestfur's neck. She heard the sharp crack of the bone and dropped his limp body. Then she heard Hazelstar yowl "SnowClan! Retreat!" Rubypaw headed for the entrance, but was blocked by Graypaw, a RiverClan apprentice. She slashed at his chest and he stood aside as SnowClan warriors pelted out of camp. Rubypaw grabbed Foxheart by her scruff and began to drag her back to camp.
Back at camp, Hazelstar called "We have 7 new warriors to welcome. Aspenpaw, Junglepaw, Birchpaw, Oakpaw, Rubypaw, Emeraldpaw, and Pearlpaw have all earned their warrior names. Rubypaw thought "I'm going to be one of the youngest warriors ever! I'm only 9 moons old!" She stepped forward as Hazelstar called out "I, Hazelstar, leader of SnowClan, call down upon my warrior ancestors to look down upon these 7 apprentices. They have trained hard to understand your noble code, and I commend them to you as warriors in their turn. Do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend this Clan, even at the cost of your life?"
"I do!" All 7 cats echoed.
"Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior names. Aspenpaw, you will be known as Aspenleaf. Birchpaw, you will be known as Birchtail. Junglepaw, you will be known as Jungleclaw. Oakpaw, you will be known as Oakbranch. Rubypaw, you will be known as Rubyheart. Emeraldpaw, you will be known as Emeraldleaf. And Pearlpaw, you will be known as Pearlfall. You all have great loyalty, strength, wisdom and agility, and we welcome you as full warriors of SnowClan."
"Aspenleaf! Birchtail! Jungleclaw! Oakbranch! Rubyheart! Emeraldleaf! Pearlfall!" The clan called.
"We also have new apprentices to welcome. Skykit, Fernkit, Goldkit, Silverkit, Copperkit, Cinderkit, and Brackenkit are ready for their apprentice names. Rubyheart, you will mentor Skypaw. Aspenleaf will mentor Fernpaw. Birchtail will mentor Goldpaw. Jungleclaw will mentor Silverpaw. Oakbranch will mentor Copperpaw. Emeraldleaf will mentor Brackenpaw. And Pearlfall will mentor Cinderpaw."
