Chapter Two

“Sam, I need to talk to you,” Castiel says.

            It was weeks later.

“Why don’t you talk to Dean?” Sam asks rudely.

            “Because… It’s about Dean…”

Sam doesn’t say anything for a moment.

“Never mind… You’d just tell him anyway…” Castiel turns around to face the door.

“Cas, wait,” Sam reaches to grab his shoulder to stop him but Castiel already stopped.

            “What, Sam?”

“I won’t tell him…” Sam almost whispered.  He looks down at his feet.

Castiel remained silent for a few moments.

            “Cas-”

“We were in love,” Castiel interrupted.

            “What?  When?”  Sam asked confused.

“When I raised him from perdition… We had to- rebuild him… And when we were done, we let him stay for a little while.  He stayed with me and we fell in love… When…” Castiel broke off and wiped a tear from his cheek.

Sam stared at Castiel intensely.  “Listen, Cas, you don’t have to keep going if you don’t want to.”

“No, Sam.  You don’t understand!”  Castiel yelled.  He noticed Sam back up a little.  “I’m sorry… I just- You don’t understand how much this bothers me… It’s like I’m fighting a battle every day and every night…”

            Sam nods.  Keep going, then.”

“When the rest of the angels decided it was time he needed to come back to Earth, I was fine with it... As long as I got to watch over him…  And I did.  From a distance at first, then I had to talk to him… And I saw the look in his eyes… He didn’t remember me… At all.  It was like all those memories were gone… Like I never-” He stops.

“Keep going,” Sam says, putting his hand gently on Castiel’s shoulder.

“That- That’s it…” Castiel said slowly.

Dean walks in after opening the door of the motel roughly as everyone exchanges look for a moment.  “We have a problem,” He says.

“What’s up, Dean?” Sam asks, slightly flustered.

“We found her,” Dean said, rushed.

“We should go now, then,” Sam says, standing.

“Get up, Cas.  Come on; before we lose her.”

Castiel doesn’t want to get up, he feel weak but her nods, “Okay,” and gets up, ready to go.

“Tansy,” Dean said, getting her attention.

She turned quickly, and smiled deviously.  “Hello, Dean.” She turned a little, “Sammy.”

“Don’t call me that,” Sam says through gritted teeth.

“Why not?”  She continues to smile.

“You know exactly why,” Sam walked toward her.

“Ah, ah, ah…” She said, holding her hand out.  “I wouldn’t go any farther if I were you.”

            Sam stops.  “Fine.”

“I see you brought a friend,” She turns to Dean, but gestures towards Castiel.  She tosses her dirty-blonde, curly hair behind her shoulder.  She walks towards Dean, touching his shoulder and playing with his hair.

            “Stop,” Castiel demanded.

“Am I making you jealous, hunny?”  She glances at Castiel.  “I’d be jealous too; he’s cute.”

“I’m warning you; stop,” Castiel said, stepping forward.

“So, he’s the dominant one in the relationship?”  Tansy asked Dean.

Quickly, Castiel dropped the angel blade from his sleeve into his hand.

“Don’t!” Sam yelled but it was too late.  Castiel had already plunged the blade into her chest.  A blue, bright light flashes in Tansy’s eyes and mouth.  Castiel pulled the blade out of her and watched her fall to the ground.

“Cas!” Dean yelled.  “Why’d you do that?!  There were only three creatures in the entire world that had the information we need to know!  Now there are two and we don’t know where either of them are!”

Dean shakes his head and starts walking outside.

“Where are you going?” Sam asks.

“I’m going to the damn car!” Dean shouts back.

“I’m sorry,” Castiel whispers as he runs his fingers through his dark hair.

“I think he’ll get over it,” Sam whispered.

Cas started to walk back to the car.

“Uh, Cas… That might not be such a good idea,” Sam stopped him.

            “Why not?”

“You know Dean… He’s going to want his space… I think it’d be best if you just walk back to the motel.”

“I wish I had my grace back,” Castiel whispers.

“I’ll see you back at the motel, Cas,” Sam said.

When Sam and Dean left in the Impala, Castiel started to walk back to the motel.
