Chapter Three
“Dean,” Castiel said, getting his attention.
“What do you want, Cas?” Dean asks, obviously distracted. He was working on his car, under the hood.
“I’m sorry I killed her…”
Dean remained silent.
“Do you forgive me, Dean?”
He nods and continues to work on his car.
Castiel smiled a little.
“Why weren’t you in the car?” Dean asked.
“Sam thought it would be best if you were without me for a little while…” Castiel explained. “You know… Just to calm down a little.”
“That makes sense,” Dean said. “I would’ve just ignored you anyway.” Dean laughs a little.
“What was she anyway?” Castiel asks.
“She was a Fae. They can see the future. They’re pretty small, they have wings, and they’re all female.”
“I’ve never heard of them before,” Castiel explains.
“They’re closely related to demons, I’m pretty sure the Satan created them a few hundred years ago.”
“That would explain why I haven’t heard of them.”
Dean nods and goes back to working on his car.
Castiel figures that that was the end of the conversation and went inside.
“Hey, Sammy,” Dean stared, “what were you and Cas talking about earlier? It seemed kind of serious.”
Sam stared at Dean for a moment, wondering if he should tell him that he and his best friend were in love, and he’s about to, but at the last second he decides not to. “It wasn’t. Everything’s fine.”
“You sure, Sammy? You know you can tell me anything.”
Sam hesitates for a second. “I’m sure.”
“Alright. I’m going to get to sleep; you should too. Maybe put down the book for a few hours and get some shut eye.”
Sam watches Dean go into the room with Castiel and sighs as he begins to see the way Castiel looks at Dean. Almost like he’s begging him to remember. He watches tears well up in Castiel’s eyes and sees him come into the room Sam is in.
Castiel stares at Sam without saying a word.
“I’m sorry,” Sam finally manages to get out.
Castiel wipes his cheek. “I’m an angel of the Lord, I shouldn’t be crying,” he says.
Sam and Castiel both know Dean is already asleep, so they don’t have to worry about him hearing them.
“And yet you are,” Sam says.
Castiel faces the door and stares out the crack at Deans sleeping body.
Sammy gets up and walks toward him, setting his hand on Cas’s shoulder. “I’m really sorry, Cas,” and he lies down on the other bed to go to sleep, leaving the blue eyed angel all alone, staring at Dean, observing everything he’s doing.
