Chapter Six
“So, how far did we go because there will be cops looking for us all over the state,” Sam said.
“This will be fine for a couple nights,” Dean said as he walks over to one of the beds.
“What are you doing?” Sam asked.
“Well it’s not like we can go out and hunt,” Dean answered, “Why not make ourselves at home?”
“Because this isn’t going to be home,” Sam says, refusing to sit down.
“This is the best we’ve got for now. I’m not going on the road all not. Let’s at least get a good night’s sleep,” Dean insisted.
“I agree,” Castiel chirped up. “He’s the driver, and I don’t want home falling asleep while he’s driving.”
“Exactly,” Dean agreed, lying down with his head propped up on his hands.
“One,” Sam points to Castiel, “you’re only agreeing because you’re screwing him. And, two,” Sam points to Dean, “I’ll drive half way and you can sleep in the back or something.”
“Uh- uh,” Dean says and shakes his head, “You are not going near Baby.”
“One night,” Sam finally gives in.
“Well,” Dean says, “There’s no point in you not sleeping,” he gestures toward the other bed.
“And if the cops come and we’re both asleep?” Sam asks.
“Cas doesn’t sleep,” Dean says, “Wanna keep watch, Cas?” Dean asks.
“Sure, Dean.”
“Thanks, man,” Dean says. He hopes that Castiel will crawl into bed with him and watch from there. And Castiel does just that.
“Move over, Dean, I don’t have a lot of room. If you want me here, you’re going to have to let me be here,” Castiel whispered.
Dean smiled and moved over, “Better,” He whispered.
Castiel shook Dean. Dean slowly opened his eye and Castiel looked over at Dean, “Good morning, Dean,” Castiel said.
“Why’d you wake me up, Cas? It’s-” Dean looked at the clock, “1:45 in the morning.” Dean rubbed his eyes.
“Sam said I should wake you,” Castiel explained.
“Well where is he?”
“He just went out to the car. Would you like me to get him?” Castiel asked
“Yeah, I wanna know what he’s waking me up for.”
“Okay, I’ll be right back,” Castiel said as he bent over and kissed Dean’s forehead.
Dean looked shocked.
“I- I’m sorry, Dean. I thought it would be okay…” Castiel said, panicked.
“No, no. It’s fine, it just shocked me,” Dean explained.
Just as they finished talking, Sam came in. “Get up, we’re leaving,” he said.
“Why?” Dean asked, not getting up.
“Because I don’t want the police on our tails,” Sam said, frantically shoving stuff into Dean’s bag.
Dean muttered something as he got up.
“I’ll be in the car,” Castiel said in a deep, sleepy voice.
It was silent in the car.
“I sense awkwardness; am I correct?” Castiel said.
Dean looked back at Castiel for a moment before laughing a little. “Sure, Cas.”
Sam glares at Dean.
“Lighten up, Sammy,” Dean says, “They haven’t caught us or anything.”
“Not yet,” Sam mutters.
“We won’t get caught,”
“If we happen to get caught,” Sam started, “We’re going to be all together, that means no one will bail us out when we go to jail.”
“We wouldn’t go to jail. We’d go to prison. Do you know how many things they’ve got on us.” Dean explained.
“Great,” Sam said sarcastically.
