*Daryl's POV*

It had been a few days since we left the CDC and Adelyne had barely said a word to anyone. I truly hurt for her she was so torn and there was nothing I could do to help her. She was just shutting down and I wished she wouldn't. We were driving and I looked at her she was awake and looking out the window at what was now the world. I resisted my urge to reach out and touch her. Poor Adelyne she lost her daughter and her friend all in the same week that would hurt anyone in her position. I wish there was something I could do for her but there was nothing. The most I coud do was say I'm sorry and be there for her but it didn't seem like enough for me. Adelyne was broken and hurting she wasn't even eating, she was starving herself and that was not okay. All I wanted was for her to be the Adeylne that I met when we were back in Atlanta but I knew she wasn't that girl anymore. We drove for a while longer until we heard a loud sound coming from behind us and a horn sound. Adelyne and I both looked back to see smoke coming from the RV. I stopped and that's when we all got out of the cars. The RV door opened,

"I said it, didn't I say it? A thousand times dead in the water" Dale told us.

"Problem Dale?" Shane asked.

Dale scuffed.

"Well just the small matter of being stuck in the middle of nowhere with no of- okay that was dumb."

I started going through a car looking at stuff.

"Can't find a radiatior hose here" Shane told us.

"There's a whole bunch of stuff we could find" I said.

"Getting more fuel from these cars is a start" TDog agreed.

"Food" Glenn looked at all of us.

"'Maybe some water?" Carol asked as she held Sophia.

"This is a graveyard" Lori said.

We all looked at her she was the only one who didn't seem on board with it. Adelyne didn't say anything she just stood with the group and listened to us talk. She hadn't spoken in days.

"I don't know how I feel about this" she mumbled.

But we all set to work. I helped TDog get fuel from the cars while I kept my eyes on Adelyne.

*Adelyne's POV*

I don't know what's wrong with me. It's like I can't function I didn't even want to eat all I wanted to do was cry. Cry for Katie, cry for Mike, Jacqui. Everyone we had lost I wanted to cry for but I seemed to habe cry myslef dry. I wasn't getting much sleep and dark circles were forming under my eyes. I was just drained almost as if I was done fighting. Everyone I cared about died and I was just living taking another day at a time. I kinda wish Daryl would've let me stay at the CDC it could've been over for me too. Just like it was over for Mike, Jacqui, and Jenner. I was going through a car looking at clothes. I came across a sky blue shirt and actually smiled. It was my favorite color I held it up against me hoping it would fit. I found some pants and a few more shirts that I liked when I heard someone clear their throat. It suprised me because I exspected Daryl but instead came face to face with Lori. She just looked at me and walked closer,

"I want to talk to you" she said folding her hands nervously.

I had pretty good idea what she wanted to talk about but I let her play it out. I nodded for her to continue.

"That night at the CDC. What you heard between Shane and I-"

"It's none of my business Lori" I told her.

I shocked myself that I actually said something. I hadn't said a word in days, it was just like I said. I just couldn't function maybe it was my way of dealing with the pain. Lori moved her ahir from her eyes. Lori was a very thin woman but she was alos very beautiful in my opinion, but knowing what she did with Shane just took away some respect I had for her.

"Adelyne look I love Rick he's my husband. But you weren't there you didn't see what it was like it Atlanta. Things were falling apart and he told me that my husband had died becasue he had been shot. I felt like I died with him so I just wanted to feel anything. And then when Rick came back it all stopped and the room feels like it's caving in. Me and Shane haven't done anything since Rick came back" Lori explained to me.

That maybe true and it didn't matter that things had stopped with her and Shane what was a problem for me was that anything ever happened.

"Look Lori I dont care what happened with that. All I care about is that you betrayed Rick and with Shane at that. Rick has been like a father to me jsut as much as he is too Carl I have tons of respect for that man. He stuck his neck out for me and cared about me helping me get on my feet after everything happened"

"Adelyne listen-" Lori cut me off but I wasn't finished yet.

"No, I've done a lot of bad things but I would never sleep woth my husbands best friend even if he was dead. I could never do that to the man I love. And if you're worried I'm going to tell Rick I'm not, that's your job" I told her.

I turned my back to her going through the car. I didn't care to speak to her any longer. I got all that I wanted off my chest so it was good enough for me. It was all on her end Lori had to deal the pain of what she did not me.

*Daryl's POV*

I watched Adelyne speak to Lori and then turn back and keep looking through the car for more supplies that we could use. If she was talking again I wanted to speak to her, I don't know why but she makes me feel so diffrent. I'm a Dixon we don't feel at all but Adelyne she just gave me a feeling I've neber felt before. I've never cared about anybody so much. I walked quietly over to her and when I tapped on her shoulder she jumped and spun around.

"Sorry didn't mean to scare you" I told her.

I let her heart catch up with her and then she nodded,

"It's okay" she said.

Wow she spoke, after days of not hearing her speak it was music to my ears.

"It's nice to hear your voice... it really is" I told her with a little smile.

She didn't smile back she just shrugged and nodded. Gosh she looked so tired and drained I wanted her to stay healthy.

"Look Adelyne you um you need to eat something" I said.

She shook her head no and looked away.

"I'm not hungry"

"Bullshit!" I said angry. "I'm not going to sit here while you starve yourself. You can't just give up, you can't" I scolded her.

She glared at me.

"Oh yeah? You said I can't give up, do I have any say in that matter? I wanted to stay at the CDC but you wouldn't let me. Mike is gone and so is Katie, what else do I have to live for?"

I glared at her and stepped closer which made her step back bumping into the car.

"Do you realise how crushed Rick and his family would be if you died? Thay love you like you're their own and they loved Katie to I could see. What would they do without you?"

What would I do without you? I wanted to say that but couldn't bring myself to do it. I didn't want her to give up because I was falling for her I was falling hard. I looked into her beautiful green eyes that brimmed with tears. And out of instinct I pulled her against me.

"Daryl-"

"I know you miss Katie, and I do too. I still carry around the bracelt she gave me I'm never going to let that go. And I know you miss Mike but you got to be strong, if you ain't going to do it for your sake or for mine. Do it for your little girl. You know she wouldn't want you being like this" I explained hoping that I could get through to her.

Adelyne pulled away from me but I didn't want her to.

"I can try" she said looking up into my eyes and they burned me to my very core and gave me a nice feeling.

"That's all I want."

We looked at eachother and didn't say anything. You could read Adelyne so easily from her eyes she gave everything away with them. I seen the hunger and passion in them, her pupils dialated everytime she looked at me. Even if she was angry or upset. My mouth became dry and I swallowed the lump in my throat.

"I-I really want to kiss you right now" I admitted.

Adelyne didn't answer right away but she took my hand and came up against me looking up.

"Then do it"

And with that permission I leaned down and sealed my lips over hers.

Well guys here's another update. Sorry this wasn't all that eventful but I wanted to show you how Adelyne was coping. And she and Lori finally spoke about what happened at the CDC between her and Shane. But when will Lori tell Rick? Gotta wait and see. Stay tuned for what comes next.
