Chapter 6

We woke up to air horns, once again.

"Wake up, wake up IDIOTS!" Four yells, emphasis on idiots, "You have TWO minutes to get ready."

I put on someone's clothes, probably Becky's and pulled my hair back into a ponytail.

"Waffles?" Becky asks.

"Whatever they are, no thanks." I reply with a smile.

I see Becky put on a pair of my clothes and laugh it off when she sees me wearing hers. I have one friend... Two including Jo... And the guys are nice... I watch Becky walk out of the dorm room.

"See you at lunch!" Becky yells, "More pranks later!"

"Alright." I reply with self-consciousness.

I sprint to the training room as fast as I can; being unaware of my feet felt pretty good.

"Thump!" I hear.

I can tell that I bumped into someone, hard. I feel my body collapse to the ground with another loud thump. I hear a gun shoot in the background. Hope it's not Four. I looked up with fear and confidence at the same time, trying to act Dauntless.

"Get up! Get up!" I hear Uriah yell from across the room.

"I just hope it's not Four." I mumble, trying not to be audible.

"I'm not Four." I hear from above me.

I hear Nathan's laugh from above. Then, I realized it was Nathan.

"Sorry." I mumble, as I wipe the dry blood from the fight to get into advanced.

"Kat, you okay?" Nathan asked.

I nodded as we continued walking to the training room. As soon as I arrived, Four and Uriah were setting up punching bags. I ran to the one farthest away from the instructors, so they won't notice me. I like to work alone. Working with coaches kind of intimidates me.... Because of Marcus... I watch the other advanced initiates run into the room, half of them with a new tattoo. Natalia and Becky don't have tattoos yet while Jo has a snake on her ankle... Probably to represent her fear of snakes.

"Guys, get positioned!" Four yells with an incredibly harsh tone of voice, causing all of us to pay attention so we don't get beheaded.

"We will be punching with punching bags today!" Uriah yells, softer than Four thank goodness.

"What else do we punch with?" I hear Natalia mumble.

"Shut up, Christina." Four replies softly.

"That's not my name." Natalia replies.

"I don't care what your name is, Candor. Understood?" Four asks in reply.

I glare at Natalia, who has a fearful expression on her face.

"Beginner initiates, how are you in here?!" Four yells angrily.

"Sorry. Wrong room!" Tris yells as she runs as fast as she could.

"Now, I can resume!" Four yells, obviously angry at Natalia, "We will help you get it perfect, before you're against other initiates. I will make sure that one of you, this year will beat, either Peter, Eric, or another instructor or Dauntless member, in a fistfight, knife throwing competition, guns, or all three. You ready?!"

We all screamed and put our hands in the air like crazy people. We all returned to our punching bags. I began punching with my fists and my feet. I feel some blood, dripping down my index finger. I don't care. I punched more. And more. And more.

"Kat!" Four yells, trying to get my attention.

Of course I don't look at him. I hear Four running behind me, making loud noises. I still don't have the urge to look. I think he means someone else. Four snaps his fingers right behind my left ear.

"Hello?" Four asks like he's going to kill me, "Are you deaf?"

"No." I reply harshly.

I looked at him.

"Use your knees and elbows, so you can get more power. I had an initiate the same height as you last year. Tris. After this tip, she beat up Peter. Believe me on this one. I'm not a knucklehead." Four whispered.

I followed his instructions. I kept elbowing and kneeing the punching bag, until Four stopped talking. We all glared at him.

Four yelled, "Stop! You are dismissed for lunch!"

We ran to the cafeteria. Nathan plopped down next to me.

"Hey, Kat." He mumbled.

"Hey, Nathan." I replied.

"How are you doing?" He asked.

"Great." I replied.

"Like being with all the guys?" Nathan asked.

"Yea." I replied.

"You're not a guy-a-phobe?" Nathan asked.

"What's that?" I asked.

"It's like a germaphobe. A guy-a-phobe. Get it?" He asked.

"Yes. No, I'm not a guy-a-phobe." I replied.

"Are you a germaphobe?" He asked.

"A bit." I replied.

He laughed. He brought me a slice of Dauntless cake.

"What's this taste like?" I asked.

"Pretty good. If you get addicted, like Zeke and Uriah, I will have to pay for it. Four likes it too, but not as much as Zeke. He's the worst of all. He would go naked to rush to the cafeteria and grab a whole Dauntless cake. Most of the time, Four takes a picture and kisses Tris on the head, putting his arm around her to secretly show her the picture. Zeke notices and yells the dumbest words ever." Nathan says.

"Also, up on carbs. Later, we will be fighting other initiates. Carbs give you energy." Sage says.

"Erudite, I'm guessing. Right, Sage?" I ask.

He nods.

"Try some coffee." Nathan mumbles, gesturing to the cup of coffee right beside me.

I take a sip.

"Oh my God! That's strong!" I yell.

"Now the Dauntless cake." Nathan mumbles.

"Does it make you as stupid as Uriah?" I ask.

Nathan shakes his head. I tasted Dauntless cake. It tasted amazing. I gobbled the whole thing up like a factionless person.

"Are we going to fight people later today?" I asked.

"No, guns first." Nathan replied.

We ran back to the training room. We had minute targets and big bullets.

"Will this even work?" I ask.

"This is not proportional, Kat." This boy said.

"Who are you?" I ask.

"Daniel. Erudite transfer." He replies.

"You already know my name." I mumble.

"Hi, I'm Eric." Eric says.

"Why isn't your name Erica?" I ask, accidentally using the Candor side of me instead of the Dauntless side.

"Don't ever speak to me like that again." Eric says.

I chuckle.

"What's so funny?" He asks.

"You can't order me around like that." I reply with a smirk on my face.

"Very funny, initiate." Eric says.

I glare at Eric, eyes and ears wide open, observing his every move.

"Guys, let's start shooting!" Eric yells.

Four glares at him.

"What, Four?" Eric asks, "Are you too weak to stand up for yourself?"

"Woah, he's mean!" I whisper/yell to myself.

"Candor, shut up." Eric says; still unaware of what he's doing.

Oops. I said it out loud! I look at Eric with terror; feeling the shivering in my veins as Eric stares at Four. Four looks at Eric like the 'I will beat you up' look that he gives us initiates; yet surprising enough, he also folds his arms tightly against his chest. I look at Daniel and Nathan, who are glaring at me. I shrug my shoulders innocently, knowing that I didn't do anything. At school I was always the goodie goodie girl in plaid until I was ten or eleven and then I started defending myself.

"Are you ready, Four?" Eric asks like Four's an idiot; Four glaring at him the same way.

Four nods, loudly tapping his foot onto the floor; which is supposed to drive Eric crazy.

"Of course." He announces to the world, like he's Donald Trump about to build 1,000 skyscrapers in one faction.

"What is it?!" Eric yells across the training room; causing everyone to cover their ears with their hands when he spoke.

"Wait for us!" Four yells.

"Who is in charge, here?" Eric asks, declaring things like a know-it-all from Erudite.

"Me and Uriah are in charge of the training for advanced initiates, Eric." Four snickers; like the 'for your information' speeches Marcus used to give Tobias and I when I was six years old. I'm the leader." Eric orders, "I'm not waiting. We start now."

"Fine, Eric." Four snickers; his vein looking like it's going to pop out of his forehead.

"Let's start shooting!" Eric yells again.

He throws guns into the air.

"Stranger danger!" Zeke yells as he runs in and out of the training room.

"Idiot! Please leave here!" Four yells.

"You mean Bye Felicia!" Zeke yells.

We all glare at Zeke; either not knowing what he meant or looking like they're about to pick on him.

"What does that mean?" I ask Miles, a Dauntless-born, who's standing to the right of me with her spider tattoo on her right shoulder being exposed unintentionally; probably surprising her.

"You don't know?!" Miles yells into my ear really loudly; causing me to cover my eyes when he yells into my ear.

"Speak a little louder please?!" Tom, a Candor transfer, yells sarcastically from all the way across the room, "I can't hear you!"

"You idiot!" Four yells, "Bye Felicia."

"Perfect!" Zeke yells, skipping out of the room in his rainbow onesie and pink ballet shoes; acting like he's completely innocent and unaware of everything around him.

"Oh my God. He's an idiot." Nathan mumbles like a girl.

"Here are the guns!" Eric yells as he throws a gun at me.

Luckily, I catch it, but if I didn't I would've died. I'm so glad. I know I want to die.... Not now but in a few days. I'm not ready yet.

"Shoot it at the targets!" Eric yells again.

I look at the target, shaped as the size of a person's head. The head looks stern and mysterious with no eyes at all. I take a look at the ground, which is twenty feet below the target. I feel scared, but I can't tell anyone. If I do, I will get either killed or shattered to pieces... Even though either way I know I will die. I have to just accept that I can be afraid, but I know I can't. Nobody else can either. We stand up on a platform, that we have to shoot on; the wobbles of the platform terrorizing me. I just stare at the gun in my hand.

"Shoot!" Eric yells with confidence and anger in his voice, "NOW!"

"Aren't you supposed to be teaching us something?" Daniel asks very loudly, making sure that Eric could hear him.

"Shut up, know-it-all." Eric mutters.

All of our eyes, even Uriah's turn to glare at Eric. Four exchanges glares with Daniel, then Eric, then Tom; making a continuous, never-ending cycle of staring at each other.

"Dauntless don't need a teacher. If you do, then you're a coward." Eric mutters, straining his voice to speak louder and lower than usual.

All of our eyes land on Eric, even Four's this time.

Daniel POV

"It's not my fault!" I feel like yelling, until Four glares at Eric.

Thank god. Thank the world. I was a disgrace to Erudite and to my parents. I insulted Jeanine before. I almost became factionless. All I know is that the world is in danger of something. Something big.

A/N: The Donald Trump joke was made before he even announced his running for presidency, this chapter was actually made in December of 2014, please no hate. This was not meant in any way to offend any Trump supporters, even thought this doesn't attack any political views, just the point that he has a lot of buildings with his name on it. I will change it once I find where it is but someone brought it to my attention. This bold part is edited in around July 2017.
