CHAPTER 28

"Sammy, teasing is not nice."

"I know." He moved his face to my own as we made eye contact.

I narrowed my eyes onto him, but couldn't keep from smiling at him as a smirk played onto his lips.

"Why are you so hard to be mad at now?" I sighed, leaning my head back onto the wall as my eyes stayed on his.

He shrugged, bringing his body closer to mine, closing the gap between us, "Because you can't resist me."

"I did for 17 years," I remarked.

"But now," he lowered his lips close to my own, making me flutter my eyes close thinking he was leaning in for a kiss, but all he did was brush his lips against my own, "You can't." He pulled away slowly with mischief dancing in his eyes.

I took a long breath before releasing it, "Whatever, you're smarter than me. Happy?" I cocked my head to the side as I searched for his reaction.

"Happiest I've ever been."

He then grabbed my face, and crashed his lips back onto mine, making my stomach fill with fireworks.

THE NEXT DAY

I barely got any sleep last night, and no, it wasn't because I had slept in Sammy's bed with him. We kept our hands to each other the rest of the night and ended up waking up very peacefully.

It was nice being in a house along with Sammy. I would have thought I was crazy if I knew this a few months back, but now I'm craving it, and his touch.

Which isn't good.

On another note, my Mom had spammed my phone multiple times as I was at school. She and Dad didn't notice I had left last night, thankfully, either I would be walking home to them digging my grave.

Her texts were apologetic from the night before, but all I did was leave her on delivered. I'm glad she's realizing what she did was wrong, but it's hard to take away the sting from the words.

I stared at her messages, realizing I probably should answer.

Mom: Honey can we talk after you're done with school?

Sam: Sure we can.

Three words are all she's getting right now. I may be forgiving, but sometimes it's hard to muster up the courage to forgive.

"Where's Ryan and Sammy? They're taking forever and I want to go home." Skye sighed dramatically as she leaned against the school building.

We currently were waiting outside of school for Ryan and Sammy since Ryan had taken Skye to school today.

"I don't know, they're men. Sometimes they take longer than girls." I waved my hand in the air, and she nodded in agreement.

"Yeah, not wrong about that. Also, they have those attitudes that come along with it."

"I can't see Ryan having an attitude, he always follows you around like a lost puppy." I giggle, making Skye roll her eyes, but a smile made its way to her lips.

"I know." Her smile kept on her face, "Anyway, how's your whole dating app thing going?"

Oh, I kinda forgot about that...

Being wrapped up with Sammy every day, it's hard to even reply anymore.

"Oh, you know..." I shrugged, not sparing a glance towards her.

"What the hell?! Did you finally succeed with Sammy Sandars?!" She shot me a look of excitement, hitting me on the shoulder as she did so.

"Skye!" I scolded her in a whisper, throwing her a hard glare. "No, I didn't succeed...I actually don't know if I want to continue. It was kind of a waste of time." I rubbed my arm as I looked back down.

Guilt was starting to set as Sammy and I got closer, and things were going to get major complicated.

Skye raised her brow as she pursed her lips out in thought, "Hm, how come? At first, you were so about it."

"I know," I ran a hand through my hair before glancing back to check if the boys were coming then glanced back at Skye, "It's just a waste. It was wrong of me to even do such a thing in the first place."

"Sam..." Skye's face fell into a frown as she tilted her head, "You were just having fun at first, plus it's not like he'll ever know. If you are still messaging him on the app just ghost him or call it quits."

"Yeah, but he'll be hurt with that coming from eviee." I used my hands as quotation marks.

I really did regret it. Getting to know Sammy as the months went by has been really great, and turned my opinion of him into something completely different.

As of now, who knows what the hell is going on between us. We've made out, and you don't do that with people you hate, or declare your enemy.

I sighed as thoughts ran through my head. Apparently, Skye was speaking as I was in my head, and her nudging my shoulder brought me out of my thoughts.

"Listen, we'll call later, okay? I'm here for you." She squeezed my forearm as she whispered. She nodded up at the two boys who were now trailing towards us which were Sammy and Ryan.

I gave her a small smile and mouthed the words thank you.

She smiled at me back before she was engulfed into Ryan's embrace, "School is finally over with, let's go home." He breathed her scent in before pulling away.

Once again, leaving Sammy and I standing side by side waiting for the two love birds to stop.

"You all wanna come by my place after school?" Ryan suggested as we all started to step down the steps of school.

"Uh, I don't think I'll be able to make it, but maybe this weekend?" I pulled my phone out of my pocket once more to see a few more missed texts from my Mom. I closed my eyes at the sight as we all continued to walk, then glanced over at Sammy who was giving me a look of concern.

He was the only one that had noticed something was off.

"Nooo why? We miss you when you can't hang out." Skye pouted her bottom lip as she tried to muster up her biggest puppy dog eyes.

I chuckled as my eyes fell to the ground where I watched my step, continuing to walk towards my own car.

"Actually, I don't think I can come either. My sister is in town." Sammy pitched in, making us all look in his direction.

"Okay, okay. It's alright, we all see each other this weekend, yeah?" Skye started to back up to Ryan's car with him as she had a small tilt of her head, and a wide smile appeared on her lips.

I nod in agreement before turning to walk towards my car, "Of course, I'm gonna miss you!" I reach out to her dramatically.

"Oh, stop it! I'm gonna miss you more!" She yelled back, and Ryan and Sammy watched us both as if we were crazy.

Ryan just got into the driver's seat as he shook his head, and Sammy stood by my car as we watched Skye get into her seat as well.

"Sometimes I don't know how to react whenever you two are together. You're very odd friends." Sammy leaned against the back of my car as Ryan pulled out of his parking spot and started to drive away.

I of course didn't miss how Skye tried to wave her hand at me as they started their way down the road, making me chuckle at her actions.

"Eh, I still love her either way," I say, walking past him to go to the driver's seat. I unlocked the car and started to get in before scrunching my eyebrows realizing Sammy was now standing at my door.

He held onto my door as he looked down at me through his hair with a smile, "Can I come over later?"

"Can you what?"

I couldn't believe what I was hearing.

"Come over? I wasn't lying when I said my sister was coming. It's not like they'll realize I'm gone." He spoke, but I didn't miss the flash of hurt that went through his eyes. The pain he had gone through in his life with being pushed to the side made me feel his pain.

So, before I could even think, I ended up saying the one word I kept saying to Sammy.

"Yes."

"Yes?" He breathed in before letting the breath out, "Thank you, I was going to come whether you said yes or no." He smiled cheekily, making my face fall to a glare.

"Get away from my car." I shooed him away as he started to laugh.

"But, you're not going to tell me how much you'll miss me?" He cocked his head to the side slightly as his lips formed a pout.

"No."

I'll admit, he was cute, but I need to stay strong.

Don't give in, Sam.

Stop it.

His brown eyes blinked a few times, and I threw my head against the back of the seat, "God, stop it, Sammy."

He placed his hand onto the side of my car as he leaned forward, making him look less cute, and more hot in a matter of seconds.

"Or what?" He tested, and I breathed in as I looked forward.

"We're not doing this again!" I pointed at him as I tried shutting the door, "It's freezing out, Sammy. Let me be in warmth."

"Fine, I guess I'll leave you alone for now." He winked, stepping back away from my car as he shut the door in the process.

I glared at him through the window, but a playful smile still was visible on my lips.

I rolled the window down as he turned around towards his car, "See you tonight, Sandars." I called out before rolling the window up with a smirk.

He glanced back as he rolled his eyes and with that disappeared from my view to his car.

I put my seatbelt on and put the key into the ignition as I started it, but I couldn't help but smile.

Sammy Sandars was finally bringing happiness back into my life.
