CHAPTER 27

I sat in my car down the street from Sammy's house just in case his parents were home with tears streaming down my cheeks.

Some people would say, it's not that big of a deal, but my parents always hated drinking especially after the death of my brother because that's what took him away from this world.

They would always tell me if I were to ever do it, I'd be grounded for hundreds of years, so seeing my Mom completely out of it tonight, just showed that something else was seriously wrong.

It had to be because of the closing of their cafe, but her lashing out and taking it out on my father and I was so unlike her.

My mind spent in circles for a few moments trying to figure out what was going on, I quickly wiped my eyes before looking at myself in the mirror.

Damn, I should've really thought this through of crying in front of Sammy.

I should've planned the whole thing out in general, but in that moment emotions were so high I had to get out of that house, and with whatever was going on with Sammy and me, I felt at ease being with him now.

I quickly got out of my car and started to walk up the sidewalk as I slung my bag over my shoulder. I carried my phone in my hands as I read Sammy's texts from before.

Sammy: wait what?

Sammy: sam??

Sammy: what the hell is going on? are you okay?

I sighed before responding back.

Sam: is your parents home?

I stood at the end of his driveway now, hoping he'd respond soon which he did.

Sammy: no...?

Sam: I'm here.

I walked up his driveway and was now standing outside of his giant house at the door. I waited patiently as I tapped my foot against the pavement. Maybe this was a bad idea?

I should go home, yeah, I really should.

My emotions were taking over my body, but before I could step foot off the porch, Sammy opened the door revealing himself in the doorway.

"Sam?"

Shit, he looked so good. This was going to be harder than I originally planned. He wore a black hoodie along with some gray sweatpants. His brown eyes looked at me as if he was concerned, but curious on why I was at his house on a school night at 10pm.

"I got in a fight with my Mom." I rubbed the side of my arm.

"Wait, what—have you been crying?" Sammy's eyes flickered around my face as he reached his hand out to grab my wrist, pulling me inside his home.

He closed the door behind us as I slowly nodded, but waved my hand in the air.

"It's fine, it's just," I sighed, running a hand through my hair, "Am I worthless?"

There it was, one of the things that bothered me the most about what happened. I was always made fun of in school, so it coming from my parent really hurt even if she was drunk.

"No, why would you think that?" Sammy furrowed his eyebrows together as he took my bag from me.

He motioned in the direction of his room, and I started to follow.

"Because my Mom said I was."

Sammy stopped in his tracks on the steps and quickly turned to face me, "Listen, Sam. Don't listen to that shit. You're quite literally amazing, and that's coming from me."

I gave him a half smile as I continued up the stairs with Sammy now trailing beside me, "Then why would she say it? My own parent?" I shrugged, "She was drunk, can you believe that?"

We made it to his room, and he shut the door behind us before dropping my bag onto the floor and grabbing my hand to lead me to the bed. He sat me down onto his bed as he stood before me, and knelt down in front of me with us being eye level.

"Don't say that about yourself, Sam. Like I said before, you're amazing." He ran his hands down my arms in a comforting way.

I frowned as I dropped my head into my hands, "I don't know, Sammy. That's not even the worst part, she was drinking which never does, especially after my brother's passing. She wouldn't even let me say his name!" My emotions were soon turning angry as I talked about what happened, but Sammy didn't seem to judge.

He kept his hands placed on my thighs as he knelt beside me. His eyes roamed my face as I continued with my rant.

Silence filled the room as I was now breathing heavily, and suddenly I felt a pair of large arms wrap around my body, pulling me closer.

I tensed up at the unfamiliar feeling but soon eased into it as it felt comforting.

"I'm here for you, Sam. I always have been." Sammy whispered against my ear, making my lips curl into a small smile.

"Thanks for listening, Sammy." I wrapped my arms around him, hugging him back and I breathed in his nice scent. He felt so warm, and it made me feel at peace being in his arms.

I closed my eyes as we stayed like that for a moment before he pulled away.

"You're literally the best person I've ever met, Sam. I know we have this weird relationship and all, but these past weeks of spending time with you I've realized that all my opinions were so wrong." Sammy gave me a warm smile, which made me smile back. His kind words made my skin hot, making me look away not being able to contain the blush creeping onto my cheeks.

"Wait, are you blushing?? Sam Ryder is blushing because of Sammy Sandars?" Sammy chimed in once more, making me laugh at his teasing manner.

"Sammy, stop." I rolled my eyes before covering up my face with my hands.

He chuckled softly as he grabbed onto my hands, pulling them away, "Stop what?"

"Making me feel things I shouldn't." I pointed a finger toward him, and he shrugged with a smirk dancing on his lips.

"I like making you feel things." Our eyes locked for a moment, and I smiled at his brown eyes. The dimple on his left cheek was displayed, and I couldn't help it.

The man looked so cute.

Why haven't I ever noticed this before?

"Wanna do something weird, yet fun?" He tilted his head to the side as he finally plopped down beside me on the bed.

"Oh no, I'm scared." I chuckled, looking around his room at what he was about to reveal.

"Well, it'll help you. Hot water helps stress, correct?"

"What are you on about?"

He chuckled softly as he rolled his eyes, "May I have the pleasure to take you to the shower?" He handed his hand out, and I looked at it as if he was crazy.

"Fuck, no!" I slapped his hand away, making him laugh as he swayed his body.

"No, listen, not fully undressed. It'll be like a hot tub, but as if it was raining. We wear swimming suits?" He proceeded, and my look didn't change.

How did he even come up with this, and why?

"Did you really call a shower a hot tub with rain?"

"Yeah...I don't own a hot tub, my parents always thought I'd drown as a kid." He shrugged his shoulders before standing up, "And before you say you don't have anything to wear, I already have a swimming suit for you."

"What?! From where?"

He shrugged again as his eyes danced with amusement, "Who cares about that, now what do you say?"

I stared at him with a smile growing on my lips.

"If you wanted to see me wet, Sammy, you could've told me." I grinned as I joked, but my face fell as his words replied in an instant.

"Oh, I want to see you wet in more ways than one." He grabbed onto my hand and pulled me from the bed as I was in a daze about his words.

My face was on fire at this point.

The sound of the water hitting the shower tile was the only thing that was heard as Sammy was turning it on. I was currently sitting on his bed with a dry towel wrapped around my body, wearing the suit he gave me. Wherever he got this thing, he better of washed it five times.

He appeared out of the doorway without a shirt on, only wearing his trunks and my eyes went straight to his body.

I'm mentally crying I'm drooling over my enemy, but I can't help it.

My eyes went up to his face, and he was leaning against the frame as he watched me check him out with a stupid smirk on his face.

"Why'd you stop?"

My eyes narrowed into his, making him laugh in amusement, "Shut up."

I got up from the bed and walked over to him, passing him in the doorway as I looked up in the mirror with it now fogging up with the steam from the shower.

I slowly took the towel away from my body, feeling self-conscious as I held it in front of me, turning around to face Sammy.

"Um, towel?" I pushed the towel into his chest before panicking and quickly jumping into the standing shower.

He laughed as he set it down, and soon followed after me as he closed the door.

The water was hot as it was steaming up the glass doors beside us, and as soon as the water hit my skin I felt a relief. Okay, not gonna lie, this probably will help me make me feel better.

My hair started to stick to my face as it got wet, and my eyes watched Sammy step inside with water droplets bouncing onto his bare chest.

"Remind me, how did you convince me to do this?" I bit my lip as my eyes looked everywhere but him.

"With my good looks, my charm. What else?" He grabbed ahold of my shoulders, pushing me back slightly so now he was in the water.

The water splashed from above, making his hair drenched as the droplets ran down his face and body. I swallowed and closed my eyes at the sight of Sammy.

Okay, maybe this was a bad idea?

I should've known the things that could happen in a shower with Sammy, but my mind went out the window probably because I knew the possibilities, and didn't mind them.

The sound of the water splashing against the tile was soothing, and suddenly I felt a pair of hands touch my skin around my waist. I furrowed my brows at the unfamiliar feeling on my left and realized Sammy didn't have a cast anymore.

My eyes shot up to his, "Wait, you got it off?"

"Yeah, but that doesn't mean I'm not going to make jokes about you breaking my hand anymore." He smirked, and I tilted my head to the side with narrowed eyes.

"I could've figured that one out myself." I scoffed.

"Are you sure? Sometimes you got a slow brain in there." He tapped my head, and I playfully hit his arm.

"Stop it, you know I'm smarter."

"Huh? I thought we settled this last time?"

My eyes shot back to his, and I shook my head dramatically, "Please, no tickling."

He let out a breathy laugh before shaking his head down at me, "Huh? You think it'll be tickling this time?"

"Yeah.." I trailed out, flickering my eyes around his face and his lips soon turned to a smirk.

His loose grip that was originally only my waist now tightened as he pulled me closer to his body, closing the gap between us. My breath hitched in my throat as he did so, not breaking eye contact.

"Want to change your answer?" I watched his lips move, and he was awfully close. The memory of us kissing before had my stomach doing flips, not to mention the way he was looking at me. His brown eyes darkened slightly, and I proceeded to shake my head slowly without thinking.

"Fair enough." He smirked before his hands started to trail down my sides, barely touching my skin in the process.

The tingling sensation on my sides was left after his fingertips left my skin, and now were on my lower back, pulling me even closer. Our faces were inches apart, and I couldn't help but stare at his lips.

I wanted to kiss him so badly.

He flipped us over in one swift motion, with my back hitting the cold tile behind me. A gasp escaped my lips as my back was met with the cold sensation, and Sammy took that opportunity to crash his lips onto my own.

I didn't hesitate once I felt the same feeling I had felt before with his lips against my own, I kissed back.

My hands found their way to his hair, and I ran them through as I felt his wet locks. Our kiss started slowly as our lips moved in sync but it didn't take long for them to become more heated as if we needed each other.

The passion behind the kissing made me weak at my knees as I felt Sammy's soft hands roaming my body. I loved his touch, and I never thought I'd ever say those words, but every time his skin made contact with mine, it felt as if fireworks had just gone off.

Without any warning, he had pulled away making me flutter my eyes open in a daze. My breathing was heavy along with his, and a smirk was now playing on his lips. My eyes flickered around his face, wondering what he was doing as we caught our breath.

He placed both hands on either side of me, trapping me between his arms, but it was hot, to say the least. The way his hair was dripping with water as it was slightly in his eyes, and his chest raising up and down as he looked at me with his dark eyes.

Before I could muster up the courage to speak, I was soon taken back as his lips found their way to my neck. I titled my head to the side so he could have more access, and ran my hands to his back, feeling every muscle he had.

His lips brushed against my skin lightly, barely touching it making me want his lips to be on my skin. To be against my lips, and for him to kiss me.

"Sammy..." I let a shaky breath out.

"Hm?" He hummed against my neck, making sure not to connect his lips against my neck in the process, only small brushes of his lips.

"Kiss me," I say, moving my hands to the front of his chest as I run my hands down it.

"Then say I'm smarter." He raised his lips to my ear as he whispered, and my eyes shot open at what he was doing.

That fucker was teasing me.
