The Second Date

A/N: I got a lot of these ideas from lokis_peach on Instagram. She's lokisqu33n91 on here.

Loki was approaching the restaurant. The sight of the venue made his stomach flip. Why on Earth did he feel this way? He was a God. There was no reason he needed to be worried on a silly date. Yet here he stood, having butterflies. Loki quickly pushed the thoughts of nerves out of his head as he adjusted his suit jacket once more. Midgardian clothing was so lacking in style, but he made due with what he had, wearing his nicest, but appropriately casual clothing. He wasn't a savage, now was he?

He forces himself to enter the restaurant, head held high. Looking back and forth across the establishment, he spots you sitting in the outdoor seating area. Just the back of you, but he knows it's you when he sees your beautiful hair. You look back as he spots you, smiling. Loki grins slightly at you. As he walks over, you stand to embrace him, but it's only the second date you two have been on, so you don't make the first move. Loki reaches to your hand. "Wonderful to see you again," he said with that wry smirk he always seemed to have. He lifts your hand and kisses it ever so lightly. You blush and turn away slightly, but you can't stop the corners of your mouth from turning up. "And you as well," you say softly.

Loki walks around your table as you both take your seats. Although he hates it, he is afraid to scare you off, though he tries his very best to hide it. "Oh, I did bring you these." A green flash reveals a small bouquet of yellow and purple flowers. You gasp at their beauty. Loki smiles. "Oh, Loki, they're beautiful. Are they magical like the bracelet you gave me?" Loki raises an eyebrow. "They may or may not be enchanted so that their beauty lasts forever. I can change the colors to whatever pleases you," he added. With a wave of his finger, the colors change to navy and blue, then to purple and blue, then green and gold, and then back to yellow and purple. You giggle at his obvious attempt to impress you. "They're lovely," you say softly.

Loki then creates a butterfly that lands on your head. It then turns into an elegant hair clip that matches your outfit perfectly. "Are you just going to shower me with gifts the entire time?" you ask playfully. Loki grins. "You know you love it." A waiter then comes to take your order. Loki orders the nicest bottle of wine on the menu, which makes you squirm in your seat. He notices and puts his hand on yours. "Oh please, darling, don't even think about the expense. Of course I will be paying for our meal."

Loki then twirls a finger hidden behind his menu so that only you can see it. The waiter falls flat on his face just standing there. You work very hard to stifle your laugh, but a small giggle escapes. Loki looks incredibly proud of himself and smirks while the waiter pulls himself to his feet looking astonishingly bewildered. He then shuffles away to bring your food and drink. Loki and you exchange glances and he laughs, not bothering to hold his in.

While you wait for your food, Loki tells you stories of his childhood while the two of you drink the wine. He gets noticeably more animated as the night goes on. In the middle of one of his stories, you notice a table of young men near you glancing at you and whispering. Some of them laughed or made gestures occasionally. It was pretty obvious what they were doing. Loki follows your gaze. When he spots the men, he narrows his gaze. You simply put your hand on his to quell him. "Loki," you warn. "No magic. Let me show you how we deal with this on Midgard." Loki looks at you as you look the men in the eyes and flip them off. They look disgusted and you hear one of them mutter, "Bitch."

Loki then turns quickly, waves his hand, and the man is transformed into a rat. You choke on your wine and stifle a guffaw. Loki looks at you smiling. You are smiling as well, but raise a scolding eyebrow. Loki then rolls his eyes. "Fine," he mutters. Then, without looking, he turns the terrified man back into a human. "I like my way better," Loki murmurs. You then whisper, "Me too." Loki looks at you in awe and admiration. Then your food arrives.

At the end of the evening, you pick up your bouquet and Loki walks you to your car. Loki is definitely just a bit tipsy, being a little louder and clingier than usual. You offer to drive him home, but he turns down the offer saying that Asgardians don't get drunk and that he'll text you when he makes it home. When the two of you reach the car, you put the bouquet in the passenger seat and turn to say goodbye to Loki. He looks at you with a very soft expression, adoration dancing in his eyes. The wind sweeps pieces of hair across your face. Loki then caresses your cheek and tucks them behind your ear. "May I kiss you?" he asks softly and maybe even a bit bashfully. You smile and nod at him and he kisses you very tenderly. You both pull away for a moment, but quickly give in and continue. You can feel Loki smiling through the kiss. He slides his hand through your hair while the other falls to your waist.

When you break apart, neither of you can open your eyes for a few moments. You feel Loki's cool breath on your cheek. When you open your eyes, you see his smile. His perfect smile. Then you slowly get in your car, blushing like a rose. Once in the car, you roll down the window and Loki pecks you on the cheek one more time before you drive away. You see him watch you in the rearview mirror. He is still smiling and so are you.
