Revenge

The sweet morning air of Asgard is so refreshing to wake up to. The soft sheets are warm and comforting against my skin. Sunlight streams through the lace curtains and beckons me to wake. I am consumed by happiness until I reach over to the other side of the bed to find it empty. I expected to feel Loki's soft hair and see him smiling as he waited for me to wake. Instead, I just felt more sheets. I don't know how to feel. Loki had made it seem like we had something bigger than one date for one night. He even promised that he would never leave me. I don't know what I expected though. He is the God of Mischief. I was a fool to believe him.

But now, I am consumed with sadness and rage. I want revenge. He promised me something, and he didn't follow through. He broke a promise with the wrong woman. I got up from the bed and went to my closet. I was going to make him pay. Make him jealous of what he left behind. THat starts with clothes. I opened the closet and pulled out my favorite dress. It was a green satin gown and had one strap that attached at my right shoulder. The underside of the fabric was gold. You could only tell this from the long piece of fabric that hung over the shoulder where the strap attached. I then did my hair into an intricate crown braid. Then I put on my makeup and heels and I was ready to step out the door.

I took a deep breath as I left to look for the prince. I knew exactly how to find him. I marched to his brother's room and asked Thor. "Hey, Thor, would you happen to know where your brother is. It's really important," I said innocently. Thor furrowed his brow. "Uh, yes. I believe he said he was going to the training grounds today. You know, he likes to read on the balcony above it? Is everything alright."

"Perfect. Thanks!" I said with a smile that vanished as soon as I'd left the room. My heels clicked as I walked through all the halls and passages of the palace. Finally I made it to where you can access the balcony above the training grounds. Sure enough, there sat Loki. Reading a book in a chair on the balcony by himself. He probably already knew I was there, but I decided I didn't care and went closer. My heels loudly clicked on the white marble balcony. Loki turned around casually to see who it was. When he recognized me, he sat up straighter. His eyes widened. He looked me up and down as if he didn't believe I was really standing there in front of him. "Hello, Loki. Quick question, what in Hel were you thinking when you left me this morning?"

"Nice to see you too, y/n. And I was thinking that I got called away by my father to meet him here so I begrudgingly left you in your room. I did not want to, but I had to."

"You act like I am the crazy one here. Loki, you made me think that I was more than just another girl to you. You promised me that you wouldn't leave. You may not know this, but promises are not things to be broken. You could not even leave a note? Or come back to tell me what happened after you were done with your meeting. You certainly aren't engaged in a meeting with the Allfather currently."

Loki got up and came closer to me. "That might be because it hasn't started yet. I was called here quite recently and my father never really prioritizes our little talks. And of course you were more than just another girl to me. The fact that you would think otherwise is a hurtful accusation to make of me."

I all of the sudden felt a pain in my chest. I was still upset with Loki, but maybe I had overreacted a little bit. I pinched my nose between my fingers and sighed deeply. "I'm sorry." I said quietly. Loki came over and tugged my chin up to look at him. "No, I am sorry. I cannot bear the thought of losing you and I'm so sorry I gave you reason to believe that you lost me. I did not mean to lie to you, but I did break my promise. Please grant me your forgiveness so that we may move on from this. Is that alright, love?" he asked softly as I looked into his eyes. I exhaled once more. "I think that can be arranged."
