Chapter 2

Haknyeon got in the backseat as Hyunjoon had taken shotgun. He opted to lying down as he was still tired. She had come for them before the crack of dawn. He felt the car take off. Their trip was going to be a long one, but it'd be worth it once they got to his apartment and figured things out.

"So, you two are from Seoul?" she asked as she made a turn.

"I am, according to this note. I don't know if I wrote it myself or not..." said Haknyeon.

"Hey, there should be a notepad in the glove compartment and a pen in my bag." she said then had Hyunjoon hand it to Haknyeon. "Write something and compare it."

Haknyeon looked between the two and was amazed by the similarity. Why did he write it and put it in such a place?

"I wrote this... So I am from Seoul... What about you, Hyunjoon? Did you find anything... in you?" Haknyeon asked, hesitating with his last words.

"In me? What do you mean?" responded Hyunjoon.

"Well... I don't know why, but I apparently stuck this note up my ass..." Haknyeon mumbled, blushing while saying it.

"Sounds to me like you knew something would happen." the policewoman said as they traveled down the highway. "Guess you were pretty damn smart before whatever happened."

"I don't think I had anything in me..." Hyunjoon mumbled.

"Why don't we check? Can you pull over so he can join me in the back?" Haknyeon asked. She pulled over then watched as Hyunjoon reluctantly moved to the backseats. "It's better this way since she has to keep her eyes on the road."

"What are you going to do to me anyway?" Hyunjoon asked while covering himself.

"Strip you down. I promise it's just making sure. I would never try to molest you." Haknyeon said then reached over to strip him down.

"S- Stop! I'll do it myself..." Hyunjoon said with a beet red face.

Haknyeon could feel his face heating even more and his heart beating at a rate he never thought possible. He turned away to give Hyunjoon privacy. He felt a tap on his arm and slowly turned around.

"Are you sure...? Because I can not do it if you want..." Haknyeon said despite a small part of him yearning to touch.

"Just get it over with... I already feel exposed..." said Hyunjoon as he kept his head lowered.

Hyunjoon let out a choked gasp at the feeling of Haknyeon's finger entering and moving about inside his ass.

"I don't feel anything... now I'm feeling guilty..." said Haknyeon as he pulled his finger out.

"There's hand sanitizer in my bag." she said, well aware of Haknyeon's need.

Hyunjoon searched around her bag then handed it Haknyeon before putting his clothes back on.

"Really, I'm sorry. I just thought maybe you had a note or something too and-" Haknyeon rambled but was silenced by Hyunjoon's finger.

"It's fine... It was better than not knowing..." said Hyunjoon slowly as he collected himself.

He didn't remember such an event happening, but the feeling and sensation felt familiar. He liked it. Hyunjoon looked at Haknyeon who still looked guilty.

"Really, don't worry about it..." Hyunjoon said while patting his arm.

"But like you said, we don't know each other and I just put my finger in your ass. Isn't that a violation?" Haknyeon said with tears in his eyes. "I just wanted to learn about you and come to an understanding, especially since we both have no memories of our past. And to understand these feelings I get when I'm around you."

"Feelings? Like what?" Hyunjoon asked curiously.

"My heart, like now, beats so fast that it feels like it'll jump out of my chest. I get so nervous and panic-y. I sweat, sometimes I feel tongue tied and want to puke. I don't know why I feel so much for a stranger." confessed Haknyeon before tearing up again.

"Sounds like love to me." the policewoman said as she took an exit.

"Love...?" they both asked in unison.

"Definitely. I've had my fair share of symptoms like that. You've got it for him bad, Haknyeon." she said with a chuckle. "Question is, how do you feel about him, Hyunjoon?"

Soon the spotlight was on him. He never thought about romance let alone Haknyeon. He was too busy trying to figure himself out. He looked at Haknyeon who stared at him with big, doe-y eyes.

"I like you." Hyunjoon blurted out.

"Really...?" Haknyeon asked, unbelieving of what he just heard.

"You're really... cute. And you make me nervous. I feel strangely safe with you... like back at the precinct when you were tending to my injury..." Hyunjoon confessed.

"Oh? I'll quiet down now and let you two decide what to do." she said with a pleased smile.

"Do you want to try dating...?" Haknyeon asked quietly.

"What if we weren't before we lost our memories? And we suddenly remember everything?" countered Hyunjoon as he didn't want it all to crumble when they reached his apartment. "What if I actually hated you...?"

"We can worry when the time comes." said Haknyeon.

Hyunjoon sighed then gave him a smile. He held Haknyeon's hands then planted a kiss onto his cheek.

"I'm not sure if I've been in a relationship before, but as of now, I have no idea what to do." said Hyunjoon.

"Same here..." muttered Haknyeon.

Soon the car started to spiral out of control. Haknyeon and Hyunjoon held on for dear life as she tried getting the car to straighten out. They momentarily relaxed as the car came to a stop.

"We have a flat." she said. "Even though I had everything checked before we left."

"It has to be those assassins..." Hyunjoon said as he looked around.

"Well, we obviously can't sit here." Haknyeon said as he looked around. "Let's go out and head into the area."

They climbed out of the car and made a dash for it. Haknyeon clung to Hyunjoon in fright at the sound of a gunshot. He looked around then pulled Hyunjoon along with him.

"Where are we going?" Hyunjoon asked.

"Look." said Haknyeon pointing to the sign.

"A supermarket? That's the worst place we could hide out in!" Hyunjoon said angrily.

"No, beside it!" Haknyeon said, pointing to the hardware store.

They ducked inside and headed towards the back of the empty store. They kept an eye out for the front door in case someone entered.

"Why are they trying to kill you?" Haknyeon whispered.

"I don't know. Maybe if I could remember, I could tell you." Hyunjoon whispered back.

Haknyeon froze at the sight of someone entering the store. He could clearly see a gun in their hand. Hyunjoon felt him tense and looked towards the door as well. He's done it before and was confident he could again.

"Wait, Hyunjoon-" Haknyeon whispered then watched in horror as he moved away.

Haknyeon kept still then heard a gunshot. His hairs stood on end. He couldn't sit idle anymore. He left his hiding spot and tackled the man before him, snatching the gun and not hesitating before pulling the trigger. His adrenaline started to dwindle and he finally realized what had occurred. He shot a person. Hyunjoon was bleeding. He weakly called the emergency line before passing out.

Haknyeon stirred then looked around him. He sat up and searched around for Hyunjoon. Where was he? Did he make it to the hospital? What became of their attacker? He couldn't remember much. What he did remember was seeing Hyunjoon bleeding and him hovering over a bloody man.

"Nice to see you're conscious." the policewoman said as she walked over to his bed.

"Where's Hyunjoon!?" he asked, nearly ripping the tubes off.

"Calm down, tiger. He's fine. The bullet didn't get stuck in his shoulder thankfully. Your attacker on the other hand wasn't so lucky. One of you had good aim and shot him in the head. He's not dead, but he'll certainly have problems from now on." she explained.

"He's not dead? Oh thank god. I don't think I'd be able to live with the guilt." said Haknyeon quietly.

"I'll get the doctor so we can get you dismissed." she said before getting up and leaving.

He couldn't stop thinking about Hyunjoon. What ifs flooded his mind as he thought. What if he stayed put? What if he killed him? What if the car flipped over? What if they didn't get away? The doctor came over with the policewoman and checked on Haknyeon.

"He pretty healthy. You're free to go." she said before walking away.

"Where's Hyunjoon?" he asked, practically begging her.

She led him down the hall and onto the elevator. 3rd floor. The doors opened and he followed behind, feeling more nervous with each step he took. She opened the door then motioned for him to go in.

Haknyeon wobbled inside as his nerves reached a new height. Hyunjoon wasn't moving, making him panic more than he already was.

"Hyunjoon..." Haknyeon mumbled. "Wake up..."

"He fell asleep before I left. I meant to tell you that." she said from the doorway. "He'll be kept overnight, but you can get him anytime tomorrow between 10am and 10pm. Seeing as you both want to hurry to Seoul, I suggest getting him early. I'll find us some transportation."

Haknyeon heard the door close then broke down in tears. It was bad enough they had no memories of their lives, but now they had to fight for their lives, kill or be killed, without knowing who was after them and why. Did they see something they shouldn't have? Was someone getting revenge? Not knowing made him more scared and upset. Why did he pick such a job on the first place?

Hyunjoon stirred and eventually noticed Haknyeon in a crouched position and crying. Why was he crying? If anything, Haknyeon saved his life. That man was seconds away from putting a bullet through this head. Multiple if he was feeling trigger happy.

"Haknyeon." he called out. Haknyeon quieted down and looked up at Hyunjoon. Was he crying too loudly? "Why are you crying...?"

"I just don't understand. We have no idea about who we are and what we actually do, yet our lives as of now revolves around 'kill or be killed'. Did we make someone angry?" Haknyeon confessed as he wiped his eyes. "I just want to go home..."

Hyunjoon sat up then reached over to pet Haknyeon. He could hear the fear in his voice. He himself wanted peace and quiet while learning who he was. In order for them to even put their foot through the door, they needed to get to Haknyeon's. And in one piece.

"I'm scared too. It's obvious someone wants us gone, so we can narrow down the motives. We either one, know something that shouldn't get out. Two, wrongly arrested someone and an innocent is in jail or three, an ex convict who wants revenge." said Hyunjoon quietly. "But it'll be okay. I'll protect you."

Haknyeon looked at him with teary eyes then lunged forward to hug him. He never felt so happy, so relieved to hear those words leave Hyunjoon's mouth.

"I'll protect you too. I promise." Haknyeon replied into his shoulder.

Hyunjoon laughed softly as he and Haknyeon watched funny videos together. Hyunjoon looked at him fondly then remembered the sensation of Haknyeon's finger in his ass. Was it wise to bring it up? Haknyeon looked back and saw him spaced out.

"Hey, what's on your mind?" asked Haknyeon as he paused the video.

"It's just, when you stuck your finger inside of me, it felt like it wasn't the first time I experienced that. It felt pretty good..." Hyunjoon confessed with flushed cheeks. "I wonder if someone had done it to me before..."

"Maybe. How do you mean 'pretty good' though?" he asked.

"Like, you know..." said Hyunjoon, making his hand lie flat before lifting it. "That way..."

"So, sexual?" Haknyeon asked with a tilt of his head.

"H- Hey! Don't say it out loud." fussed Hyunjoon with a deep blush. "But yes... just like that..."

"Interesting... I wonder if you have a lover before me..." said Haknyeon who instantly frowned. "Maybe you're still together. Oh god, what have I done?"

Hyunjoon looked at Haknyeon who started pacing around in a circle. He didn't understand what was going on.

"Hyunjoon, we can't be a thing. What if we have significant others already!? And then I did all of that to you in the car... oh my god." Haknyeon said in a panic. "How am I going to live? All of this guilt... I have to apologize when we meet them."

"Haknyeon, calm down..." Hyunjoon said. "Sit down. Come closer."

Hyunjoon hugged Haknyeon who's legged bounced feverishly.

"Settle down. Just like that." whispered Hyunjoon as he rubbed Haknyeon's back. "Why don't you nap?"

Hyunjoon scooted over to make room for Haknyeon. He gently stroked his hair as he closed his eyes. It was obvious he was under a lot of stress and needed plenty of rest.

"Sleep well..." Hyunjoon whispered as he watched over Haknyeon.
