Chapter 4

"You will do apprentice duties today." Crazytail said. "I am not putting up with your kindness any longer."
It had been two days since the 'attack' on WindClan, and Larrypaw was getting in trouble for teaching Dumbstar something. His brown pelt bristled as he heard his mentor. Great. I love apprentice duties! I wish I could do then every single day.
"The Queen's need their bedding changed. It's disgusting right now."
"But there is no queens?" Larrypaw said confusedly. His siblings had recently become apprentices and were very happy about it.
"Yes there is. Fabuloustail just moved in their yesterday. I'm proud of my sister, but I don't know how she got her bedding so gross so fast. I think she's to tired to use the dirt-place."
"Oh great. I love cleaning up cat turds. And possibly pee. That's gross! Why would Fabuloustail do that?"
"When you're going to have kits you get very tired. Ok?"
"None of the other queens did that though."
Crazytail made a shushing motion with her tail. "It doesn't even matter anymore. Just do it."
Larrypaw madly stalked off to the nursery where Fabuloustail lay wiping sweat off her forehead. Her belly was hugely rounded even though she had only been pregnant for one hour. Her fabulous tail was drooping in a sad way. Larrypaw almost felt bad, besides the reason that he was the one who had to clean her nest.
He realised the stench that rose from the mossy nest and gagged. He didn't even know how Fabuloustail could survive in here. She looked at him with dull, tired eyes and suddenly asked. "What are you doing here?"
Larrypaw stepped backward in confusion. "I'm- I'm just cleaning out your bedding like I was told too!"
Fabuloustail gave an exaggerated sigh "Well I don't need help. Please go away." Then she waved her tail at him.
Larrypaw backed away and raced to Crazytail. Crazytail stared at him in disbelief. "There is simply no way you could be even halfway done. Why are you here?"
"Fabuloustail didn't want me there. She told me to go away." Larrypaw choked out.
"Are you lying to me, young tom, because if you are, you will be an apprentice ten moons longer than you should!" Crazytail said as she towered over him.
     "And if I'm not?"
"I will speak to Raisinstar about making you a warrior sooner."
Larrypaw gave himself an internal thumbs-up (cats now have opposable thumbs) and grinned. He would be a warrior sooner than planned!
Crazytail was walking to the nursery, and Larrypaw walked closely behind.
"Hello, Fabuloustail." She greeted her tired sister. "I hear you sent Larrypaw out of here. Is this true?"
Fabuloustail eagerly nodded. "Yes. Stupid kits never do my bedding correctly. I don't want them to do it."
Larrypaw's jaw dropped at the reason, but was still happy he had told the truth.

Larrypaw growled as he entered his mother's lair. It was so posh and perfect, his den seemed like a squished mouse when compared to hers. (And his den was beautiful). It had sparkling colours at every turn. Ribbons were strung in glorious banners of colour. Raisinstar had her own kitchenette where she stocked her own food in a thing called a freezer. His mother was never hungry; she could eat whatever she wanted, whenever she wanted. In the centre of the room, there was a perfectly round nest. It was swathed in glittery pink moss (ordered specially) and had antique pine needles that were said to have healing powers against aching bones. Raisinstar sat on top of the nest, watching Food Network on her large flatscreen T.V.
      "Hello, Mother." Larrypaw said.
Raisinstar was now captivated by her iPhone 6+ and did not answer. Her claws tapped furiously at the screen as if she was killing something. Her T.V. talked about how to make mouse-steak. It sounded quite delicious, and Larrypaw wanted to try it someday.
      "Mother."
Raisinstar paid no heed and continued to stare at the bright screen. Her purple eyes widened at something. Suddenly, Beautypaw burst in and started to wail. "Mommy I got a sliver!"
Raisinstar immediately looked at her daughter with warmth in her eyes. "It's ok, sweetheart. Go to the medicine den. I'm sure the medicine cat will help you." Then she noticed Larrypaw who was still lingering in the den and her eyes narrowed. "What're you doing here."
Larrypaw started to stutter. "Uh well, uh, I just uh wanted to visit you. . . . "
"Oh really? Why? Did you do something?" Suddenly the leaders eyes brightened. "Oh my gosh I just realised something!" She jumped up and left Larrypaw to stare in confusion.
