Fresh snow was smelled, Kanobe's grey fur was in Emerald's jaws, Kanobe was shivering, her fur sticking up, Emerald put her down and licked her to stop her from shivering, "Emerald! Hurry up!" Diamond shouted from the front of the group "ok" Emerald replied, picking up Kanobe with her jaw once again. They reached a rushing river, it was barely frozen, who knows how but it just wasn't. "Alright, the river is harsh, but we can make it!" Diamond shouted, everyone nodded their heads, and one at a time, they lept over the river, it was Amethyst's turn, the youngest and smallest of the leaders so she was first out of the leaders, she lept but got stuck, the river was pulling her away, she tried to grip onto the ground in front of her, the water was three metres deep, Amethyst's paws were losing grip and she started to wash away, Kanobe shuffled herself out of Emerald's jaws and ran over to the river, her eyes hooked to Amethyst's eyes, the river stopped speeding and started to calm down, Amethyst pulled her body onto the other side, and eventually, everyone crossed the river.

They continued their way looking for a sunny area. "Look!" A wolf shouted, his paw pointing to a mountain with a tiny patch of snow that was melting away. The pack reached there and realised there was no snow there but piles upon piles of hills and clouds. If they were going to find home, they would have to go through lots of hills, and on the horizon there were more patches of snow, they had a long journey ahead of them, many friendships, enemies and betrayals along the way.
