Chapter 34
Lindsey was now at home recovering, it had been over a month since the accident, his speech was still an issue but he was getting there
He depended on a wheelchair to get around as his legs were shaky but Stevie was helping him work on his walking
Evie was getting annoyed with him more often for not being able to play or have big conversations
Stevie had tried to explain to her the situation but she couldn't understand
"Can we play ball now daddy?" She asked
"S-sorry," Lindsey shook his head
"You aren't a very good daddy anymore..." she stomped her foot
"Evie!" Stevie yelled
"What? He won't play with me!"
"He can't, not yet."
"Erh, fine" she huffed
"I'm sorry, Lindsey."
He just shrugged and looked away with tears in his eyes
"She didn't mean it." Stevie kneeled in front of him
"I...I'm u...use..less" he got out finally
"You absolutely are not! You help dress the kids and feed them and you hold Andrew when I'm helping David and Evie. Don't ever say that you are useless," she kissed him chastely
"I...can't...pl...play...! I can't m...ake...love...to you..." he cried
"You can make love! You are just telling yourself that you can't!"
"I...couldn't...sat...isfy...you...la...st time" he looked away
"I'm going to take the kids over to Anna's. when I get back we are having a talk," she said sternly as she rounded up the kids
"Where are we going mommy?" Evie asked
"You are going to play with Anna for a little while"
"Really?!" She asked excitedly
"Yep!"
Taking the kids she dropped them all with Anna, telling her she would pick them up in a few hours
Entering the apartment she found Lindsey right where she had left him.
"Right, now we talk!" She said
"What's there to talk about?" He shrugged
"T-the t...truth?"
"It's not the truth Lindsey!"
Shrugging he wiped a tear out of his eye.
"Why would you think that?"
"I-I can't d...do anything!"
"Yes you can Lindsey!"
"No!"
"Why did you say you couldn't satisfy me last time?"
"I-I can't."
"Why? We did alright last time"
"You w-weren't satisfied."
"I was..." she looked around nervously
"No," he shook his head
"Baby, I was! Why do you think I wasn't?"
"Y-you f...faked."
"What...?"
"I know y...you did."
"How do you know that...?"
Lindsey looked away, "I j-just do."
"How? I wasn't obvious!"
Bowing his head, "I hate myself," he said clearly
"Please don't say that..." she tried to comfort him
"I c-can't s-satisfy you."
"You can...you can Lindsey!"
"I w-won't try to d-do it anym-ore."
"Why not? I know you can do it..."
"I'll em-barrass myself."
"Lindsey, you know what you can do to my body!"
"Not l-like this."
"Yes you can!" She walked up to him and took his hand, placing it firmly on her breast
Lindsey looked away, "S-stop."
"Nuhuh..." she held the side of his neck, squeezing
She could tell that he really wasn't in to it
"Linds...why don't you want this...?" She slowly dropped his hand and stepped backwards
"I'm a-ashamed."
"Why? It's only me..."
Lindsey closed his eyes, "S-shower."
"What now?" She sighed
"I-I want a s-shower."
"Fine..." wheeling him to the downstairs bathroom, she turned the shower on, helping him to undress, then sit on the shower seat before turning to walk away
"W-with m-me."
"Why? You didn't want me five minuets ago"
"I-I'll try."
Stevie took off her wraparound dress and underwear, then stepped into the shower, keeping a good amount of distance between herself and Lindsey
"C-come here."
Stepping carefully over to him she stood still in front of him
"P-please."
"What?"
"Closer."
She moved to stand directly in front of where he was sat
Lindsey ran his hands up her stomach to her breast
Closing her eyes, she sighed as he took her in his hands
"H-honey."
"Hmm?"
"L-love me."
"I do love you..."
"N-now."
"I don't understand what you want me to do, Lindsey?"
"Have sex!"
"You don't have to say it like that..." she said
Lindsey leaned his head back and sighed, "M-make....l-love."
"Can you're legs hold me?"
"I t-think so."
Very carefully she put one leg either side of him and sat down on his lap
Lindsey slowly ran his hands up and down her sides, across her breasts and up to her neck
She didn't want to move a muscle, letting him do whatever he was comfortable with
She could feel him underneath her getting excited
She got close to his ear before whispering
"That doesn't feel very useless to me..."
Lindsey's breathing deepened as he pulled her closer, kissing her gently
She hadn't felt him give her such a gentle kiss in a while, she loved it, but wanted more
His hand slipped between them and into her in one motion, catching her off guard
"Shit...!" Her whole body jerked forward on a cry
"D-did I h-hurt you?"
"God no... it feels so good Linds!"
Lindsey couldn't move his arm and fingers with the force that he used to, but it was still working for her
Deciding to help the feeling, she moved her hips backwards and forwards
She could hear Lindsey moaning softly as she pressed down on his fingers
"You feel what you do to me Lindsey?" She said breathlessly
He nodded, holding her against him tightly
Holding onto his wrist she moved it how she needed it, in order to finish
Lindsey bit her neck gently as he then kissed across her neck
That was the finally step
"Lindsey!" She held onto his neck as she shook hard, him feeling her release over his hand and wrist
That was the finally step
"Lindsey!" She held onto his neck as she shook hard, him feeling her release over his hand and wrist
Moaning loudly, Lindsey did not remove his fingers
"That was so good..." Stevie said slowly still moving her hips
"You w-were p-perfect."
"So were you..." she could feel herself starting to built up again due to his fingers still moving slightly
His body was trembling from having to support her while still being to weak
"I can get off..." she said trying to move away
"No!"
"Okay..." she was a little taken back by his reaction
Lindsey took himself into his hand
Stevie watched him, he breathing dropping drastically
Lindsey found her entrance and slipped into her
Stevie sat down on him completely, gasping as she felt the entire length of him
Lindsey groaned, leaning his head back against the wall
Placing her hands on his shoulders, Stevie moved up and down, kissing him in the process
"Fuck."
Lindsey wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her closer
Stevie bit her lip, moving at a fast pace
"Ste...vie...slow...do...wn..."
"I'm sorry," she apologized, slowing down drastically
This was the only speed he could go at right now, but it wasn't quite quick enough for Stevie to feel close to the edge
She began to rub her clit fiercely
"Ste...ph...?" He questioned, seeing what she was doing
"Let's keep going," Stevie kissed him
He was hesitant but kept going anyway, keeping a watchful eye on her
Stevie began to clench, having to speed up slightly
He was struggling with the pain in his lower back, having to stop moving before he cramped
"Are you okay?" Stevie stopped completely and took his face
"Fi...ne..."
Stevie could see that he was obviously in pain
"Let's stop Linds"
"N-no," grabbing her hips
"Lindsey...it's not working...at this speed..." she looked down
He nodded sadly and let her off of him
"We can keep trying..."
"No."
"Why?" She asked going to touch his face
Lindsey moved his head away from her, "No!"
"Linds...I'm sorry!"
"I w-want to b-be alone."
"Let me get you out the shower, and I'll go..."
"No, I c-can d-do it."
"No, I won't have you slipping or anything" she helped him into his wheelchair, and pushed him into the bedroom
Lindsey carefully got himself situated in the bed and covered up
"Lindsey, we can talk about this"
"No."
Stevie picked her dress back up and put it back on
By the time she went to pick up the kids Lindsey was asleep
She wished more than anything, that she would have just kept her mouth shut and not said anything
Evie was happy to see her, "Mommy! I missed you!"
"I missed you to, baby, did you have fun?"
"Yes!"
"Good I'm glad!" Taking David and thanking Anna she headed back home
"Be quiet," Daddy and Andrew don't feel well," Stevie warned
"Okay" quietly they entered the house, not wanting to disturb anyone
Lindsey was sitting on the couch holding Andrew, his wheelchair no where in sight
"Lindsey? Where is your chair?"
"B-bedroom."
"Why?!"
"The b-baby was c-crying."
"How did you get in here?"
"I w-walked."
"You...you stupid man!"
"He n-needed me!"
"You could of dropped him! Did you not think of that!" She scolded
"I d-didn't!"
"You need to realise there are things you can't do!"
She could tell that he was highly upset
"Lindsey, I'm sorry, I shouldn't of said that"
"I'll g-go."
"Go where?"
"I-I don't know."
"I didn't mean it. I'm sorry..."
"I'll go t-to a therapy f-facility".
"No you won't...you will stay here"
"I w-want to g-get better."
"I won't have one of us go to those places again!"
"You're s-selfish."
"What...?"
"I-I want to go g-get better."
"But I don't want you to go! How does that make me selfish?"
"Y-you're keeping m-me from g-getting better!"
"I'm not! I just can't lose you!"
"It's j-just physical therapy!"
"You'll still sleep here right?"
"N-no."
"Then I won't let you go..."
Lindsey handed her Andrew and stood slowly, "You aren't my mother," he said plainly without problem
"I'm you're wife!" She cried holding Andrew
"I n-need to d-do this."
"Fine!" Stevie took all the kids into the bedroom and slammed the door
Lindsey sat back down. He felt like he needed to do this
He heard the bedroom door open but only long enough for Stevie to throw his chair into the living room
Getting the phone book and finding a treatment facility for him he dialed the number made a reservation
They managed to book him in for that evening, and he was happy to comply
Lindsey came and knocked on the door, "I n-need to p-pack."
"You're going now?"
"Yes."
Stevie turned away from him, clutching Andrew to her chest
Lindsey grabbed his suitcase from the closet and began to pack his clothes. "I-I love you."
Stevie was to busy crying, she never should have said anything, she was feeling stupid
Lindsey wheeled over to her and kissed her forehead, "Will you h-help me?"
She nodded and sniffled, still holding Andrew, she helped take some of his clothes off the hangers
Lindsey folded them neatly, closing his suit case.
"C-can y-you help me o-outside?" Lindsey's voice trembled
"I can...I can drive you" Stevie said tearfully
"Okay."
Getting the children into their car seats, Stevie helped Lindsey into the car, before setting off in silence
He reached over and took her hand
Turning his head to look at her, she quickly used her free hand to wipe her falling tears away
"I-it's okay t-to cry."
"Not in front of my kids it's not!"
"Okay." He nodded sadly
They finally pulled up outside the facility, all three kids were fast asleep in the back
Lindsey turned to her, "T-tell m-me you l-love me."
He watched as her face contorted, and she started to sob
He pulled her into his arms and held her against his chest
"I'm sorry..." she cried out, soaking his shirt
"No. Y-you d-don't have to b-be."
"This is my fault, I shouldn't of said anything..."
"No!"
"Don't go...please!"
"I h-have to."
"Don't, I'm begging you, we can do this at home, together!"
"We a-aren't p-professionals."
"Please?" She tried one final time
"G-give me t-two w-weeks."
"Well as you said, I'm not you're mother, I can't stop you..."
Lindsey kissed her forehead, "I l-love you."
"I love you too" she said not looking at him
"C-can I get a k-kiss?"
Turning back to him, she took his face, giving him the most fierce kiss she could muster
Lindsey cupped her cheek, returning the kiss
"Just go..." she told him, pulling away
"Okay..."
Lindsey got out the car and Stevie watched as he shakily walked to the front doors, almost stumbling at points
She was almost about to help him when Andrew began to get sleepy in the back
"Lindsey come back to us..." she said in a whisper
Feeling his mother's distress Andrew began to get fussy
"Shhh, don't wake the others baby..." she got out the car and went round to him, taking him from his car seat and rocking him, she saw as Lindsey turned round to look at them
She gave him a small wave, turning back towards Andrew as it was too hard to look
"Come on, stop crying, there's daddy, see" she turned him so he could see Lindsey
Andrew calmed as he saw Lindsey
"That's all you wanted wasn't it" she continued to let him watch his father
Lindsey finally vanished into the facility....
Andrew started crying again, searching for Lindsey, then looking to Stevie when he couldn't find him
"I'm sorry, baby. Daddy is gone." She kissed his head
Eventually she managed to get him back to sleep as she drove home
The apartment felt so empty and lonely without him there, "It's only two weeks," she told herself
Deciding she would phone him to see how he'd settled in she called the facility
"Hello?"
"Hi, this is Stevie Nicks, could I speak to Lindsey Buckingham please?" After a few seconds of silence she heard a voice
"I'm sorry, no, we can't put that call through"
"Why not?"
"Mr Buckingham has chosen the no contact, no visitors package"
"W-what?"
"We have an isolation package, and Mr Buckingham has gone with that one"
"Thank you," Stevie hung up quickly and immediately began sobbing
"Mommy, what's wrong?" Evie asked
"Nothing! I just miss Daddy."
"I know...I do too" she said sadly
Stevie picked her up and kissed her cheek, "We'll go to the beach tomorrow, how does that sound?"
"Okay, I suppose we can gave fun without him..."
"We can!" Stevie encouraged
In the facility, Lindsey was settling into his new room
He knew that these two weeks were going to be tough without his family
He suddenly heard a knock at his door, then a woman poke her head round
"Hi neighbour" she smiled bright
"H-hi?" Lindsey looked at her curiously
"I'm Rose, I'm in the room next door"
"I'm L-Lindsey," he extended his hand
She walked over to him and shook his hand
"Whatcha here for?" She said, flicking her beautiful red hair over her shoulder and flashing a smiled that would make men drop
"C-car accident," taking his hand back as she tried to keep a hold of it
"️Bad?" She asked gently
"Pretty b-bad."
"Same thing happened here..."
"H-how l-long have y-you been here?"
"A month so far"
"I-is this a g-good p-place?"
"Yeah, they've helped me so much, I wouldn't talk at all when I first got here..."
"T-that's g-good."
"I lost my little girl in the accident..." she said sadly
"I-I'm so s-sorry."
"Thank you, my boyfriend made us get in the car when he was drunk, and ploughed into a wall"
"T-that's horrible."
"Yeah...look I'm just going to go, it's obvious you don't want to talk to me, I'm sorry to have wasted you're time Lindsey..." she got up, straightening her dress
"I-I don't m-mean to be r-rude. I m-miss my f-family."
"Yeah...so do I...but I don't have mine to go back too..." she wiped a tear away
"I-I'm sorry."
"Doesn't matter, no one else here cares, why should you?" She walked to the door
"I-I do f-feel bad."
"Honestly it doesn't matter, you just get better so you can go back to you're family, that's all that's important. It was nice to meet you"
"You t-too."
Rose took one last hope that she could make a new friend, but sighed when it didn't look like that would happen, once again
Later that evening Lindsey struggled down the hallway to the dining hall. Seeing Rose he asked her to join him for dinner
"Really?" She asked not believing someone wanted to spend time with her
"Y-yeah."
"Thank you, I'd love to!"
Rose carefully helped Lindsey to the dining hall
Sitting down at the dining table, they waited for their food
"I-is the f-food good here?"
"It's not exactly five star, but it will do"
"Okay."
"So, what do you want to talk about?"
"W-what ever y-you'd like."
"How many kids to you have?"
"Three."
"That's nice" she smiled her smile again
"I-I have a f-fiancé as w-well."
"Is she nice?"
"Very."
"I'm glad..."
"Me t-too."
"You're not a big conversationer are you?" She laughed
"N-not really," Lindsey chuckled
"I'm not that bad am I?" She suddenly became self conscious that it was her
"No! N-not at a-all."
"Are you sure? I know I'm not an amazing person to be around, but I'm trying"
"You're p-perfect c-company."
She smiled in his response, happy that she seemed to actually be making a friend
"W-where are you f-from?"
"Maine originally, but I moved here five years ago"
"R-really?"
"Yeah, I met my boyfriend and we moved here together"
"H-how long a-ago?"
"How long what?"
"D-did you m-move."
"Five years, I thought life would be perfect..."
"I-I did t-too."
"You have three kids, and a soon to be wife, I'd say that was pretty perfect"
"T-things are s-strained."
"Why?"
"S-Stevie didn't w-want me to c-come here."
"Stevie, is that her name?"
"Yes."
"Why didn't she want you to come?"
"I-I don't k-know."
"She didn't tell you?"
"She w-wanted me h-home."
"What made you come here in the first place?"
"I-I wanted to g-get better for my f-family ."
"That's understandable, she'll be fine when you get home all better" she smiled
"I-I hope s-so."
"I know so! I'm glad you'll have someone to go home to after this..."
"T-thank you."
Lindsey saw as a sadness washed over Rose, as she started to eat her food in silence
"D-did I say s-something?"
"No, nothing at all" she smiled weakly
Lindsey sympathetically placed his hand over hers
She looked up and he saw tears in her eyes
"I-I'm s-sorry."
"It's okay..." she finally let a tear roll down her cheek
Lindsey wiped it away for her
"Thank you" she nuzzled his hand very slightly unintentionally
"You're w-welcome."
Continuing to eat her food she didn't say much else for the rest of dinner
"I-I'm getting t-tired," Lindsey yawned
"I'll walk you back to your room"
"T-thank you."
Rose helped Lindsey from the table, then walked him back to his room
He almost fell a few times but Rose held him up safely
"You're doing amazing!" She kept telling him
"T-thanks," he smiled as they made it to the room
"You are going to be walking great in no time! Your doing so well!"
Lindsey hugged her, "Goodnight."
"Goodnight Linds" she hugged him back
Lindsey laid in bed that night, worrying that he had crossed a line with Rose
She didn't seem to be one hundred percent stable
He felt that if he wasn't friends with her then something bad would happen
Finally getting to sleep he woke up to another knock on the door
"Come I-in."
Rose walked in with a mug
"I brought you some tea..." she smiled
"T-thank you," Lindsey sat up weakly and took it from her
"Are you okay?" She tried to help him sit up straight
"I-I think I o-overdid it l-last night."
"I'm sorry that was my fault! We can just stay here today"
"It's n-not your f-fault."
"Well you didn't have to ask me to go to dinner"
"I know."
"Apart from that, how are you?" Rose stroked his shoulder
"Peachy!"
"Sorry...I was only asking"
"I wasn't t-trying yo be a-an asshole."
"I know you aren't really peachy, I just wanted to make you feel a little better"
"Thanks," Lindsey smiled
"It's okay" she smiled back and took his hand
"H-how much longer do y-you have in h-here?"
"As long as they'll keep me"
"Really?"
"I have no home Lindsey, my family abandoned me"
"I am s-so sorry."
"I wish I'd have died with my little girl that day..."
"D-don't say t-that."
"I have no one now...I just want her back with me, I miss her so much..." she cried
"I-I know t-the feeling."
"You...you lost a child?"
"Yes."
"How old were they?"
"S-Stevie was s-still p-pregnant."
"I'm sorry, you didn't get to meet her..."
"T-thank you."
"My little girl was two..."
"I'm s-sorry."
"You want to see her?" She asked
"Sure."
Rose took out a picture from her pocket and showed Lindsey
"S-she looks l-like my E-Evie."
"Really? I thought she was the most beautiful little girl I'd ever seen..." she looked at the child longingly
Lindsey pulled a picture of his family out of his wallet. They had taken it while Stevie was still pregnant with Andrew.
"She's so beautiful!" She said then took a look at all the kids and cried...
"You are such a lucky man..."
"T-thank you," Lindsey held her hand
She broke down and he pulled her into his arms
"It's o-okay."
"Why did she have to die Lindsey? It was my job to protect her..." she cried
"I-I don't k-know."
Rose started to tug at the skin of her arms, it reminded Lindsey so much of when Stevie used to do it
"Hey, hey!" He held her wrists
"Please...it helps me feel less pain..." he looked at him
"No. M-my fiancé d-did that. S-she has a-scars now."
"It hurts..." she cried and held onto his neck
"I know."
Lindsey continued to hold her wrists, making soothing circles on them
"Y-your little g-girl w-wouldn't want t-this."
"I know, I just can't help it, I punish myself for letting her get in that car!"
"No."
"What?"
"It w-wasn't y-your f-fault."
"Then who's was it?" She said quietly
"The d-driver."
"I made him mad, I should have kept my mouth closed, stupid...I was so stupid..."
"No."
"He told me it was all my fault...it was the last thing he said to me..." she said and suddenly felt Lindsey grab her face gently
"It's not your f-fault."
She looked at him and nodded her head
"S-stop b-blaming y-yourself."
"Okay...I'll try..." she placed her hands over his on her face
"Thank y-you," Lindsey began to lean in to kiss her but pulled away quickly. "I'm s-sorry."
"Don't be, please" she pulled him back slowly
"I-I can't do t-this to S-Stevie."
"Just one kiss...please Linds..." they were only inches apart
"I-I," before he could protest she kissed him
She held his face softy, touching his cheek with the back of her hand
Lindsey pulled away, "No!"
"Sorry...I'm so sorry...stupid...sorry!" She burst into more tears
"You are a-a b-beautiful woman, b-but I am e-engaged."
"I know, she's perfect, she has children...why would you want anyone like me...I'm sorry, I won't ever bother you or come see you again..."
Lindsey sighed and plopped down on the bed
He made Rose feel stupid, and he felt terrible about it
He just felt very uncomfortable staying here now. Lindsey couldn't face seeing her!
He decided it would be wiser to just mention it to a member of staff, just so she could maybe get some more help
He called for a nurse and went over everything that had gone down
They thanked him and said they would have a chat with her, and see if they could help her
"M-may I m-make a p-phone c-call?" He asked
"Of course, it's just being used at the moment but, we will let you know when it's done"
"Thanks," Lindsey laid back in bed
He was told the phone was free about half an hour later and made his way to the call room. He was almost there when he saw Rose being escorted to the main doors, obviously against her will
"Rose?" Lindsey called out
"Lindsey...why did you tell them?" She asked, tears streaming down her face
"I t-thought y-you needed h-help."
"They're kicking me out Lindsey!"
Lindsey turned to the staff, "I k-kissed her f-first!"
"You've already told us what happened Mr Buckingham, you made it very clear it was unwanted! She knew the rules, she signed them when she first arrived"
"I-I lied!"
"I only wanted to feel love for a little while...that's all I wanted..." Rose sobbed as they handed her over her bag, and a stuffed rabbit
Lindsey quickly wrote down Stevie's address and gave it to Rose, "She'll h-help you."
"I can't go to her...she'll hate me..."
"No. S-she won't."
Rose nodded and took the address, before being practically thrown out the door
Lindsey quickly made his phone call to Stevie
"Hello?" She answered
"Hey b-baby."
"Linds! They told me we weren't allowed contact! Are you okay?"
"Yes. I-I miss y-you all."
"Is something wrong? You sound funny"
"I'm c-coming h-home."
"What, why?"
"I'll e-explain l-later."
"Okay..." Stevie was puzzled by him
Lindsey hung up and promptly checked himself out of the facility, he flagged a taxi and hurried home
He got to his house finally, to find Rose sitting on the front step, tears on her face
"Rose?"
"I told you she wouldn't help me..."
"W-what did s-she say?"
"She called me a slut, told me to get away from her children and then slapped me...I told you I shouldn't of come here"
"H-hang on," Lindsey walked up stairs and went inside
"St-eph?" He called
She was sitting on the couch crying.
"St-evie...I'm b-ack"
"Fuck you!" Stevie stood and walked up to him, slapping him across the face
His balance was still terrible, and he ended up stumbling into the corner of a table
"Wh-at, was th-at f-or?"
"Her!"
"I didn't sl-eep with h-er"
"Oh! That makes it okay?!"
"No...it w-as nothi-ng"
"But it happened!" Stevie turned away from him
"I -sent her to y-ou, to -hel-p her"
"Oh goody! That was a bright idea," her voice sounded defeated. "If she's going to stay here then I'm taking the kids and staying with my parents."
"She l-ost her b-aby girl in a ac-cident"
"So that gives her the right to kiss you and waltz into my home?!"
"No..." he looked down
"I didn't think so! Get out!"
"No...I'll t-ell her to go..." he turned to go back outside
"You better."
Walking outside, Rose looked up to him with a hopeful expression
"Can I stay?" She smiled softly
Lindsey shook his head sadly
"It's y-ou , or me, and I c-an't loose her ag-ain"
"What am I supposed to do?" She cried
"I don't k-now, I'm sorr-y Rose..."
"Can I have five dollars to get me something to eat?"
Lindsey took five dollars from him wallet and handed it to her
"I need to tell her something before I leave"
"Ok-ay."
Walking into the house she knocked and waited for Stevie to open the door
Stevie slung it open, "What the hell are you still doing here?!"
"I'm going, I just wanted to let you know before I went, that Lindsey didn't kiss me back, or even touch me" she wouldn't tell Stevie that he had been the first one to lean in for a kiss
"Thank you," Stevie shut the door in her face
Knocking again, Stevie was getting impatient
"What?" Stevie opened once more
"Can I please just explain?"
"I don't think that's necessary."
"It is...you see I lost my two year old daughter when my then boyfriend drunk drove us into a wall..."
"Sorry to hear that."
"Anyway, I was showing Lindsey her picture, and he showed me one of you guys, and I started to blame myself for her death, because I let her get in the car knowing he was drunk..."
"And..."
"And he told me, you lost your baby too"
Stevie looked down, "We did..."
"I'm sorry...I know how much it hurts..."
"It doesn't get easier..."
"I know, I'm not looking forward to that, she would of been three tomorrow"
"I'm sorry."
"Thank you...anyway, we were talking about the girls we lost, and I was highly emotional, and I felt so empty...I just wanted to feel love again, even for just a few seconds, so that's why I kissed him..."
"I'm sure there's someone there who loves you."
"I moved away with my boyfriend because I though I'd be happy, my parents didn't approve and said if I went they would disown me...so they did" she shrugged
"Have you tried to talk to them since?"
"Yeah, they changed their number, then moved all together"
"Oh.."
"Yeah...so I just wanted to explain, and just say don't be mad at Lindsey and give up the beautiful family you have, all because of a lowlife like me..." she wiped her tears and turned around, picking up her bag and the bunny
"Just one night..."
"No, because I won't want to leave after one night with an actual family... I'll be alright, I promise..."
"How about some food?"
"Lindsey gave me five dollars, for some food"
Rose could tell that Stevie didn't like that, "Oh, okay."
"Oh, I'm sorry..." she held Stevie's hand for a second, and Stevie realised she'd given the five dollars back
"Keep it."
"It's fine, you don't owe me anything..." she smiled weakly and turned, walking down the drive way
Lindsey walked up to Rose, "She l-likes you."
"I highly doubt that, I'm sorry I caused such a mess..." placing her bags down just long enough to open the gate she picked them up again
"Goo-dbye," Lindsey said softly
"Yeah...goodbye, thank you for being kind to me" he watched as she walked away down the street, he could see her keep wiping her eyes
Lindsey walked into the house, he felt so much guilt
Stevie was sitting on the bottom of the stairs
"Y-you can be a re-al b-bitch."
"Me? I'm not the one kissing other people's fiancées!"
"It was a m-mistake!"
"Yeah well now she can pay for it"
Lindsey shook his head, walking past her
"Linds..."
"Not n-now."
He got half way up the stairs before turning back
"You k-now, you of all p-eople sho-uld know what it's li-ke to be home-less"
"How dare you!" Stevie yelled
"How d-are I?"
"I was homeless because of you!"
"Bec-ause of me?" He looked at her
"You left me when I was pregnant with Evie, remember?"
"So it's my f-ault, you cou-ldn't keep your f-ucking legs closed?"
"Go to hell!"
"T-his is hell!"
"Then leave! If you hate this so much then leave!"
"It's not as e-asy for so-me of us!"
"Why not?!"
"B-ecause I have a f-iance and three ch-ilrdren"
"But yet this is still hell to you? Why don't you go start a family with Rose, hmm? Make things easier for you!"
"She's ju-st lost a child! H-ave some damn re-spect"
"Someone's defensive!"
"Are you s-erious?"
"Yes! You seem to care about her more than me!"
"Do you u-understand, she h-ad to see the li-feless body of her d-aughter?"
"And I had to be locked in a mental hospital and watch you fuck someone else when I lost my daughter!"
"Your s-eriously going to b-ring that up again?"
"Yes."
"Like, you d-idn't think all of our b-abies were his?"
"Well he did rape me so..."
"You told me I w-asn't allowed to see my own d-aughter!"
"And you gave away David!"
"I was d-oing what was b-est for MY c-hild!"
"Lindsey, I am sick of this!"
"Sick of w-hat?"
"Everything being difficult!"
"Well, t-hats us isn't I-t!"
"I am so tired!"
"And I'm n-ot? I c-an't even talk pro-perly"
"Well obviously you had other things on your mind in the facility then getting better."
"I did n-ot kiss h-er!"
"Then what happened?"
"S-he told y-ou!"
"I somehow don't believe her."
"Co-me on then, wh-at do you think h-appened?"
"You kissed her first."
"W-hy would I e-ven do that?"
"I know how you are."
"So w-hat, I kissed her and t-then I f-ucked her right?"
"I don't think you fucked her...unless I could be wrong."
Lindsey looked at her before taking another step up the stairs, he got half way up before she spoke again
"Have you literally done this because you aren't man enough to make me come anymore, you got to try with someone else?" She said angrily
"Maybe it's just you."
"I'm perfectly fine thank you!"
Lindsey rolled his eyes, "I ne-ed a d-drink."
"Oh here we go again! It's always the same with you!"
"When I l-live with you I-it is."
"Well I'm sorry I'm such a bitch to live with! I have only given you three children but hey ho!"
"Yeah."
"What does 'yeah' mean?"
"A con-versation ender s-so I can dr-drink."
"Why don't you go out there, go catch up with Rose, and drink with her!"
Lindsey shrugged, walking inside
"What time shall I expect you back?" Stevie spat
Lindsey pointed to their liquor cabinet, pulling out a bottle
Stevie took the bottom of it and snatched it back
"Hey!"
"Not in my house!" She said through her teeth
Lindsey got in her face, gritting his teeth
Stevie cowered backwards, until she hit the wall
"I'm ti-red of th-is."
"What are you going to do?"
"Leave."
"Go then!" She said with a few tears in her eyes
Something softened in Lindsey, "He-lp m-me."
