"What a good little, darlin'. Staying put like a good girl."

I roll my eyes as Harry pats me on the head, "I'm not a dog, you know."

The boy shoots me a mischevious grin, his eyebrows dancing at me, "No, but I can be."

I scoff at his flirting, grimacing when he decides it's okay to pull me up from my seated position, his arm wrapping around my waist. "You better back the fuck up before you get smacked the fuck up." I warn, slipping out of his grasp.

"Classic Harry," Gil laughs from his seat, clearly enjoying our small banter. "kill 'em, girlfriend." he snaps his fingers in a 'z' making me nearly pee myself laughing.

Turns out Gil isn't that bad, though I would immediately deny I ever said that if anyone asked. Besides having Gaston as a father he's actually a pretty cool dude. He's nice, funny, and as crazy as it may sound he's actually kind of intelligent (in his own special way). Sure he has his demons, but don't we all?

For the past couple of hours we've been sat in the shop talking about our childhoods and life on the Isle and Auradon. I expressed my love of ice cream to him and in return he told me all about how most kids on the Isle would kill to taste the treat.

"I'm gonna need you to stop talking." Uma walks past with a slight skip in her step, smacking Gil on the back of his head as she tosses a tray down to some lady. "We have company coming."

"If she shows," Harry casually sits down in my previous seat, patting his lap when I glare at him for stealing my spot.

Don't do it, Beverly.

I'm gonna do it.

Please don't.

I'm gonna.

And I do, I plop down on his lap, smacking his hand away as he cheekily tries to touch my waist. "Hands to yourself, man pirate."

"She'll show." Uma assures the pirate, eyeing Harry and I's close proximity. "We have two people she cares about."

"Who are we talking about?" I join their conversation, ignoring Uma's annoyed expression.

"None of your buisness, princess." Uma barks, making me flinch back into Harry.

"Oi, calm down. You're way too tense for this, Uma." Harry coos, his breath tickling my neck as he speaks.

I cringe, my neck bending as I giggle.

"What in the world is wrong with you?" Harry laughs from behind me.

"Stop judging me you dic-"

"I'm baaack."

"Get the girl out of here!" Uma demands.

Harry, without warning, stands up, his arms wrapped securely around my waist. I squeal as I almost face plant, letting out a sigh of relief when Harry grasps me a little bit tighter.

"Hey!" I whine, "Is that Mal?"

"Not important." The pirate shakes his head, throwing me over his shoulder and carrying me into the back.

"That's debatable." I retort, trying to peak out to see if it was Mal but fail miserably. "Not fair, the least you could do is let me see my friend! I mean you did kidnap me!"

"Do you ever stop talking?"

"Funny, my parents ask me that all the time!" I laugh, "well my dad does, my mom is too nice to tell me when I'm irritating her."

"Well I'm not your mother-"

"Yeah, you wear way more make-up than her." I interupt, laughing at myself.

"Will you stop cutting me off and just shush!" He finally drops me onto a counter in the kitchen.

"You're no fun."

"I'm your kidnapper, I'm not supposed to be fun." he states matter-of-factly, leaning against the counter beside me.

"Meanie," I pout, "come on, H. Let's do something entertaining, tell me about yourself!"

"I'm your kidnapper, you aren't supposed to-"

"I don't care." I place my hand over his mouth, "tell me."

He licks my hand and I frown, my hand remaining in its place. "I grew up with a twin brother, you think your saliva is the nastiest thing to touch my hand?"

He grabs my wrist, pushing my hand away from his mouth. His hand remains on mine as he sighs, giving in, "I'm really not that exciting of a person. I was born and raised on a boat, I guess you could say I was destined to have a crew rather than a squad." he pauses to glare jokingly at me when I laugh at his choice of words. I mumble a small 'sorry', gesturing for him to continue, "I was the first to join Uma's crew. For a long time it was just Uma, Gil, and I, then life happened and things went down and now we have the biggest and baddest crew on the Isle."

"I'm gonna have to stop you right there," I raise my hand up, shushing him. "That isn't what I mean, tell me about you. What's your favorite color? What are your dreams? Where would you love to visit? Your ideal first date? Get personal with me and I promise I'll get personal with you so we can be even."

"Well," he sighs, almost as if bracing himself for my judgement. "like I said, I'm not that exciting of a person. My favorite color is red, my best friends are Uma and Gil, I had a pet bird when I was little but my dad thought it was too clichè for a pirate to have a bird as a companion and one morning when I woke up my bird was gone. My dreams aren't very big, I want to be free spirited for as long as possible, maybe find a girlfriend? I don't know, I want to see the world, and as lame as it sounds I want to share that experience with someone that isn't Uma or Gil."

"Hey," I gently squeeze his hand that was still wrapped around mine, "that isn't lame. You have feelings and that's fine. You don't have to be a badass man pirate all the time. Villaining is alot of work, sometimes you need a break to just be a person."

He stares at me in awe, his eyes dazzling with an emotion I can't quite pinpoint. "Exactly." he nods, moving to stand inbetween my legs.

I tense up a bit, relaxing when he gives my hand a gentle squeeze.

"Enough about me, your turn. Tell me about you then we'll switch again." He insists, his bright blue eyes not breaking contact with mine for a second.

"Believe it or not, I'm not that exciting either," I shrug, "I mean yeah, being a princess is pretty amazing but when you're surrounded by people with the same elegantly high status it isn't as special. Sure, I'm about to become Queen but it doesn't feel as exciting as I pictured when I was little. It's alot of work, I have proclamations to make up and expectations to reach when in all honestly I don't even want to be royalty let alone a Queen." I break eye contact with him as soon as it dawns on me that I got really personal, really quickly. "Sorry, that was a bit over the top. I guess you're just easy to open up to." I let out an airy laugh, my eyes darting around the room.

"Don't you be sorry about a thing, love."

Did he just call me love?

He did.

Are my cheeks bright as cherries?

Just about, yup.

"Okay, I was pretty intense so it's your turn." I change the subject quickly to hopefully distract him from my burning cheeks.

"I've always wanted to become a magician." He blurts, this time it's his turn to blush.

I hold back a laugh, faking a cough in its place. "What?" I wheeze.

"Don't laugh," he pouts, "I'm serious. Like abra kadabra and poof! There's a rabbit in my hat."

"That's great." I bite the insides of my cheeks, praying that I don't bust out into laughter.

"Wouldn't that be cool though?!"

I nod, holding my breath, "very cool."

"You're trying so hard not to laugh right now, aren't ya darlin'?"

I squeeze my eyes shut, shaking my head rapidly, "I'm not."

"Liar." he accuses.

I open my eyes and they instantly snap to his, "I'm a terrible liar."

"You're lying again."

"Yeah," I admit, "I'm a great liar."

"I know." he replies, moving his hand from mine to my knee.

My eyes immediately dart to his hand, scanning it cautiously.

Do I trust this?

You have no reason not to.

Um, he kidnapped you? The hell you mean?

Why am I always arguing with myself?

"Hey," Harry's fingers grab my chin gently, pulling my head up so that my eyes meet his once again. "I'm not going to hurt you, you can chill a bit."

"How do I know that?" I question seriously, "You said it yourself, you're my kidnapper. I don't want to get too attatched."

Why did you just admit that to him?

"Well that's a shame."

My brows furrow in confusion, "what?"

"I was really starting to like you."

Dammit, I'm blushing again.

"Stop," I whisper, "you can't- we can't. My friends will save me and as much as I don't want to, I have to go back to Auradon and be the Queen everyone expects me to be. I don't want you to hurt when that happens."

"Don't go back." his hand squeezes my knee making me jump in suprise.

"I have to, Harry. I can't stay here alone." I mutter, pushing his hand off of me.

"You won't be alone."

"Yes, Harry. I will be alone. Plus, the only reason I came here was to confront Gaston about what he did to my parents. He's gone, so that clearly won't be happening. I have no reason to be here." I push him back gently, hopping off the counter. "Please just quit while you're ahead. This-" I gesture between the two of us, "can't happen. We're nothing more than comfortable strangers."

"That's not true," Harry refuses to let me pass, "you mean to tell me nothing clicked at all during our conversation? Like a switch just turned on."

"Yes, no. I don't know! This is all happening so fast." I run a hand down my face, sighing when Harry grabs it. He pulls my knuckles up to his lips. "Stop."

"But you don't really want to, do you darlin'? You're only saying this because it's the right thing to do." he exhales against my knuckles.

Yes, that's exactly why, but you can never know that.

I open my mouth to reply only to close it when Gil steps into the room.

"Uma wants you to come move King Ben."

"What?" I shriek, my eyes darting to Harry for some indication that Gil is mistaken. "you kidnapped my brother too?!"

Harry doesn't answer me, his eyes focusing on Gil.

"Yeah, we got him so Uma can trade you and him for Fairy Godmother's magic wand. It was Harry's idea to snag the King, pretty clever, huh?"

"Yeah, so incredibly smart." my tone drips with venom as I glare holes through the pirate's head. "Mind taking me to wherever I need to be for tonight, Gil?"

"Sure!" the boy obliviously cheers.

I take a few steps, freezing for a moment to look at Harry, "It's a shame, I was really starting to like you." I mock, only for his ears to hear.

I walk away from him without even the smallest glance, forcing a smile when Gil excitedly waves me over to him, "follow me!"

And I do, because as much as I wanted to run off and escape, they had my brother and there was no way I was going anywhere without him.
