"Why are you sad?"
I let out a shocked laugh, my eyes darting to Gil. My mouth runs dry and all of my energy runs with it. I simply shrug, too exhausted to reply.
"No, tell me. I'm a good listener." The boy insists, leading me down a hall.
"There's nothing much to say," I swallow hard, clearing my throat. "it's just- dumb. It's dumb."
"If it's making you sad then it isn't dumb."
I force a smile, glancing up at the boy as we turn a corner, "I think I like Harry." I admit timidly. "Please don't tell anyone I said that. It's never going to happen, there's too much going on in our lives for it to work."
"Ooh!" Gil squeals like a girl, smiling widely at me. "It can totally happen, you just have to try."
"It isn't that simple. First off, we have the distance. I'm not going to be on the Isle forever, there's no way for us to communicate when I go home. Then, there's the small detail that he had my brother kidnapped!" I snap, "Forget it, I told you. It's dumb."
"Harry didn't like you that much when we nicked Ben." Gil mutters, glancing over at me.
"What?" I turn to the boy, eyes wide.
"Yeah, it was before you guys started getting cozy." He shrugs as if it's nothing but my heart skips a beat at the thought that maybe I don't have to be mad at the pirate.
"Oh," I murmur, my mind now racing.
We arrive at a door and Gil pushes it open, letting me inside.
"Night, Gil."
I don't give him time to respond before shutting the door in his face.
That was so stupid of me!
There's no way Gil will be able to keep that to himself. He's gonna end up telling Harry and then I'm gonna have unwanted boy drama to deal with.
Kill me.
I decide to use the room to distract myself, studying the bland space. There's a couch in one corner, a desk on the other side of the room. Straight ahead of me there sits a window out looking the sea with Auradon lying peacefully in the distance.
As much as I hate to admit it, I was so dumb coming here. I let my emotions carry me to a place I don't belong and now here I am kidnapped by a bunch of crazy villain kids. And to top all that off, I may or may not be developing feelings for one of those crazy villains.
I plop myself onto the couch, closing my eyes as I lie down. I've had enough of today.
-
"Rise and shine, princess!" Uma storms into the room, a rope held in her grasp. "Stand up and turn around."
I groggily stand up, my brain still sleeping. I honestly don't even recall most of what happened after that, all I know is that now I'm stuck tied to a pole, with my brother, on Uma's ship.
Harry jumps infront of Ben, getting in his face and rubbing my brother's chin with his hook, "Coochy, coochy, coo."
"Idiot." I mutter under my breath.
Harry's eye lock with mine and he smirks, sauntering towards me, "how's it feel to be an almost Queen now, eh?"
"Great, thanks!" I sarcastically cheer.
The boy laughs maniacally, grinning widely, "Good, we want nothing but the best for our guests of honor." Harry bows.
"Give it a rest, Harry." The pirate ignores Uma, leaning in to run his hook along my jaw, "Give it a rest. We don't want damaged goods."
Harry walks away, climbing up on some rope before swinging out to point his hook at my brother, "You said that I can hook him."
"Boy, I hope the fuck you do." I quipp, glaring at the pirate. "See what happens if you as much as breath in my baby brother's direction."
"3 minutes!" Ben whines, "you're older than me by 3 minutes!"
"And they were the only 3 minutes I've ever actually enjoyed living."
"Enough!" Uma interjects, "I said at noon, Harry."
Harry hops down, pulling his pocket watch out and dangling it in my face, "20 more minutes til bubby over there gets it."
"That says 11:30." I deadpan.
Ben and I exchange a look before turning back to a confused Harry. He rolls his eyes, padding away from my twin and I.
"You better hope your girlfriend comes through," Uma speaks, sitting down infront of us.
"Well, she's not my girlfriend anymore." Ben sighs sadly.
My eyes widen at his words and I turn my head to look at him, "what?"
Harry chuckles at Ben's words, standing behind Uma. The girl smiles, nodding towards me, "Leave us alone, Harry. And while you're at it, take the girl."
"19 more minutes now," Harry taunts, untying me from the pole before pushing me along.
"What the hell is your problem all of a sudden?" I shout as he pushes me away from the rest of the crew.
"My problem? You're the one that insisted that we'd never work out!" Harry turns on his heel abruptly, eyeing me. "I'm just picking up where we left off before you decided we aren't even worth a shot."
"I thought we could atleast still be civil!" I cross my arms over my chest, glaring at the boy.
"Civil? I'm a villain, Beverly."
"No," I shake my head, "your father is a villain. You're just the boy who got stuck living in too many shadows!"
"What did you just say to me?" He steps closer to me, his tone low.
"You heard me." I don't even try to move back, knowing that with my feet bound I'll only end up falling over.
"I'm not stuck as anyone's shadow." Harry growls, his chest now pressed against mine.
I inhale, my heart pounding in my chest, "What are you doing?" I mutter as he continues to lean in.
"You drive me crazy, darlin'" He huskily mumbles, his breath fanning face.
Okay, mood swings much?
"Harry," I breathlessly whimper, "I told you-"
"I don't care."
My eyes widen as he gets closer and closer, our lips brushing. His arm hooks itself around my waist and I gasp.
"Harry!"
And just like that his warmth is gone. I frown, letting out a squeal as he throws me over his shoulder, carrying me back to Uma.
"Hey, guys!" All eyes go up to Gil who is sliding down to the deck, "They're here!"
"Mal, Evie!" I shout, not even trying to hide my grin, "Jay, Carlos, Lonnie! Wait, Lonnie?"
I let out a suprised shriek when Harry pushes me toward the plank, "Welcome!"
"Finally!" Uma calls, laughing as she paces towards the VKs.
Uma and Mal start arguing, slipping in hilarious insults every once in a while before Harry leaves my brother and I on the plank to go and taunt Mal.
"So," I glance at my twin, "long time no see. How's life?"
"Now really isn't the right time for this, Bev."
"Whatever." I sigh, "my legs are seriously tired." I huff, struggling to sit down on the plank with my restraints. Luckily, I somehow manage, my feet hanging off the plank and swinging back and forth.
"What are you doing?" Harry hops onto the plank, shooting me an amused smirk.
"Sitting." I reply in a 'duh' tone, looking up at the pirate.
"Why?"
"Because she's lazy." Ben answers for me, rolling his eyes.
I point at my brother, or atleast try with my bound hands, nodding, "precisely."
Suddenly Ben starts singing earning an irritated look from me, "what's with all the singing, I thought we were having an exchange not a damn rap battle." I grumble.
"You? Give me? You're gonna give me a chance? Well not a chance!" Uma sings, turning her sword to Mal.
"Make the trade!" the pirate crew cheers, "or walk the plank."
"Hey, if they don't come through can I just wiggle my way off? Standing up is too much work." I whine, looking up at Harry.
"Sure, darlin'"
"Thanks, man pirate." I smile, turning back to Mal and Uma.
Mal is doing something with the wand, waving it around and blabbering on about the dog talking.
"Talk, dog." Mal orders.
"Does this vest make me look fat?" Dude questions.
"Oh my God!" I bust into a fit of laughter, leaning against Harry's legs. "I'm gonna die!" I wheeze, tears form in my eyes and my stomach begins to cramp at how hard I'm laughing.
"Give me the wand!" Uma reaches for the wand, but Mal pulls it away.
"Give me Ben and Bev!" Mal insists.
"Harry," Uma nods toward us, "bring the royals over here."
"Great, now I gotta stand up." I groan, laughing when Harry simply picks me up, carrying me to my friends. "That was so much easier, thanks man pirate!"
"Anything for you, darlin'"
"Darling?" Ben grunts.
"Yeah, it's our thing." I clarify with a firm nod.
"Your thing?"
"Yes, I literally just said that!" I huff.
"Never get to have any fun." Harry mutters to himself, cutting Ben and I lose.
"Wait, what'd I miss?" I whine, smiling when Evie grabs onto my hand. "Hi Eve!"
"Hi, Bev."
Suddenly, Mal gives Uma the wand and I'm pulled back away from the pirates.
"Beverly, you need to take Ben and go!" Mal orders, pushing me away.
"Why?"
"Just trust me! Go! Go!"
"No!" I pause at the load shout, turning to see Uma snapping the wand over her knee, "You do not get to win everytime!" the girl roars.
"Oh shit, it's about to go down!" I laugh.
