"You're in trouble."
I roll my eyes at Mal's dramatic declaration, shrugging my shoulders. I plop myself into a chair, my eyes landing on Dizzy who stands bewildered behind the cash register.
"What's up, Diz?" I eye the girl, letting out a gasp when she screams. "Woah, what's that for?" My hands fly to my ears, blocking out the high pitched sound.
"You and Harry Hook just flirted!" Dizzy squeals, running from behind the cash register to sit beside me. "What did he smell like?"
I grimace, my brows furrowing as I glance at Mal, "Um, like fish. Not that great." I lie, my mind going back to his scent. He smelled really good, like pine and lemon, but I couldn't let anyone know that I actually smelled the guy.
"Are you two done?! This is serious, Beverly!" Mal shrieks, pulling me up from the chair. "If Uma finds out you're here she'll immediately use it against me! Something really bad could happen, I don't need you in trouble right now. I don't have time for this!"
I narrow my eyes at her frustrated ranting before muttering, "not everything is about you, Mal."
"What did you just say?" Mal crosses her arms over her chest, her expression challenging me to repeat what I just said.
And like the idiot I am, I do, "not everything is about you." I repeat, copying her stance.
"What makes you think I'm thinking about myself, huh? The fact that I saved you from Quincy or the fact that I don't want you to become fish bait?" her cheeks begin to flush as she shouts, her eyes glowing the slightest bit of green.
"More like the fact that you seem to think that this Uma chick only wants me because it'll hurt you! Did it ever occur to you that maybe she won't care because you aren't that special!" As soon as the words leave my mouth I regret them, but I continue to speak anyway. "And to top all of that off you clearly don't think I can handle myself! You're worse than Ben, no wonder you two get on so well! I can use a sword better than any girl in Auradon and yet nobody even cares because I'm a girl!"
"Okay, guys! Please stop fighting!" Dizzy pleads, stepping inbetween Mal and I.
"We aren't fighting," I shake my head, stepping away from my friend. "This is over."
I quickly turn on my heel and storm out of the shop, wiping away the few stray tears that had fallen without my knowledge.
"Trouble in paradise?"
I jump, glaring at the silhouette beside me. "None of your buisness."
I continue down the alley, ignoring the stranger that was so determined to follow me.
"None of my buisness? Everything's my buisness, sweetheart."
"Okay, who the hell do you think you are?" I turn abruptly, my eyes widening as they land on a girl. Behind her stands Harry and another boy I don't recognise.
"Who am I? Oh sweet Beverly, I'm your worst nightmare." the girl cackles, nodding her head towards me.
Before I can even react Harry leaps forward, grabbing my arms and pulling them behind my back.
"What's my name?" the girl lets out a vicious growl.
I cringe as Harry leans forward, his breath fanning my neck as he whispers, "Uma."
"What's my name?" she shouts this time and I jump back, gasping as I stumble into Harry's solid form.
"Uma!" Harry shouts back, thankfully not in my ear.
"Gil!" Uma growls, turning to the other boy beside her. She shoots him a glare, groaning when he shrugs dumbly.
"What?" the boy questions, his tone slightly whine-y as he steps forward.
"What's my name?"
"Do you have amnesia or something and just can't remember your name so you need others to remind you? Or are you just that pathetically vain?" I mock, tilting my head to the side. A slight smirk makes its way onto my face as I hear Harry let out a ghost of a chuckle behind me. Uma, however, is not amused and steps back in shock.
I take the moment to bring my foot up behind me, nailing Harry where the the sun doesn't shine. I grin victoriously as he lets me go, groaning as he falls to the ground in pain.
"I'm so sorry!" I shout as I take off down the street, "it wasn't personal!"
I run as fast as my legs will carry me, not once daring to turn around to see how close behind me they are. I hear their footsteps slamming off the pavement and gasp as a hand nearly locks around my wrist. "No!" I shout, speeding up only to turn into a dead end. My whole body begins to shake as I pound my fist against the brick wall.
"You made a big mistake!" Uma roars, slowly making her way toward me. Harry and Gil follow behind her, Harry glaring at me the whole time. "We just wanted to have a friendly chat."
"I'm sure," I sarcastically nod, backing into the brick wall and praying it would just swallow me whole.
Uma and Gil stop, Harry being the only one to continue pacing towards me. I cringe as he reaches me, running his hook down my jaw as he chuckles to himself. "I'm so sorry." he sneers, "this isn't personal."
Then, without warning he brings his hook down against my head and the world around me falls dark.
-
I wake up with my head pounding behind my eyes. The smell of mold and the sea is the first thing I notice as I slowly sit up, leaning myself against the wooden wall. I cringe, gagging at the smell as I glance around the room.
I'm in a cell in a big room, surrounded by wooden walls and small cages. There's a desk in the center of the room, a sword sat in the middle. A person is sat in the chair behind it, their feet kicked up on the desk and their hat is over their eyes. It's obvious they're sleeping so I stand up, slowly so that I don't end up passing out again, and search for something in the cell that I can use to unlock the metal door.
I grunt in annoyance as I come up empty, my hand flying to my hair before pulling at it irritably. My fingers catch on something and I pull a bobby pin out, grinning victoriously as I pad to the lock.
How incredibly convenient.
I push my arm inbetween the bars, sticking the bobby pin into the hole. The pin digs around before a 'click' sounds and the door swings open with a loud whine.
I cringe, my eyes flying to the person who thankfully is still asleep.
I make my way over to the person, snagging the sword from off of the desk top. Then, taking small, cautious steps, I make my way to the exit. The door swings open with ease and I grin, slipping out of the room and into the narrow hall. It's a short hall, the only door being the one I just came out of and one at the other end of the hall. The one on the other side is open, the sun shining down a set of stairs.
I jog down the hall, racing up the steps, the sword held tightly in my hand. I slowly make my way out into the open, my eyes darting around the busy ship. No one seems to notice me so I creep through the crowd, a snarl set on my face to fit the expression of everyone else on the ship.
"Where's the princess?!" An all-too-familiar voice growls from where I just came from.
My eyes widen and I shrink back behind a barrel. I peak over the barrel, my eyes landing on Harry, the boy from downstairs in his grasp, his collar being held tightly by the angry pirate.
"I-I don't know, she just poof! Gone." the boy lamely lies.
"Oh, so you didn't fall asleep while watching her?" Harry's voice is dangerously low, all eyes on him as he whispers one last thing to the boy before throwing him to the ground. "Find the girl or you'll have Uma to deal with!"
The crowd disperses at that, everyone running off and searching for me.
I shrink back into my corner behind the barrel with only one thought swirling through my head.
I am royally screwed.
