Chapter 3 - Beth

Beth's Point of View:

I gasped as a feeling of staleness came over me, then huffed at the Vampire who had just run through me. Instead of apologizing, she just continued on her way and muttered, "Witches!" under her breath. I sighed. That's what I get for getting the plague.

You see, that's how ghosts are 'born': they get "the plague" and they have to die from it within a day of actually showing signs of having it.  But, personally I would rather be a zombie and had been tortured to death. Being a ghost is not fun at all. Hardly anyone ever takes notice that you're there, and when they walk through you (depending on what creature they are) it just feels... awful. I really wish I had not been born a ghost.

Anyway, I shook my head to clear away the remaining stale feeling, then went into the potions shop where I was headed. As I went through the doorway,  the witch-girl in the front counter looked up, smiling.

"Can I help you?" She said through her smile. I frowned. I had only just meet this girl and she was already starting to get on my nerves.

"Um... I need a few solidifying potions. Enough for the rest of the week, and maybe an extra dose just to be sure."

"Hmm, okay!" The girl replied in an overly-cheerful voice. I raised an eyebrow suspiciously. What was this girl trying to do anyways? Whatever it was, it was really annoying.

Just then, another young witch-girl with curly red hair burst through the door of the back room. She looked at my face, then to the other girl, then back to my face.

"Sadie, are you trying to annoy everyone?" She said.

"What? No! Of course not!" The girl (apparently named Sadie) replied.

The other witch rolled her eyes and said, "I'll take care of the desk for a while. You go make some healing potions, alright?"

"Ugh! Fine..." Sadie said as she trudged into the back room.

"Hi." The other witch said, with a friendly (an actual friendly) smile. "My name is Marie. I'm sorry if Sadie annoyed you. Sometimes she can be the best friend in the world, and others she can be a real pain in the rear! So, what did you want again?"

"Uh... some solidifying potions. One for each day of the week, and an extra dose just in case."

"Would you like it to be a small dose or a large one?"

What did she mean, a small dose? I thought to myself.  Normally I just get the usual dosage, whatever it was.

"Small." I said uncertainly.

"Okay then. I never did get your name though..."

"Oh. I'm Beth."

"Alright Beth, come pick your potions up in about an hour."

As I left, I realized why that vampire had muttered, "Witches" under her breath. Not only were they really mysterious and super annoying at times, witches were some of the weirdest creatures I had ever met!
