Chapter 4 - Sofie

Sofie's point of view:

I sighed in an irritated way, then began to make my way against the flow of the crowded street of Halloween Town. I had lost my foot in the street a while ago, and had not noticed until just barely. It was hard when you didn't have any nerves that worked, if you had any in the first place. It was also hard when you had a pesky foot that would never stay connected to you ankle, like me.

The reason I had a foot that constantly would fall of, is because of two main reasons.

1. I was a zombie. Most of us have parts like that.

2. The way that I died. Apparently, based off of the condition that I was in when I "came back to life," I had been tortured to death by someone cutting all the way up my arm from my wrist to my neck, then someone cutting off my foot, then lastly my neck was chopped halfway of before they decided I was a lost cause and buried me in a field, with no tombstone to mark where I slept for two years.

A bunch of goblins sewed me up good (goblins are good at sewing), so that my neck stayed closed and you could no longer see the bones in my arm, but if they had sewed my foot on, then I would not have been able to move my ankle. That would cause severe difficulties when trying to walk, so they decided just to keep it off.

So anyway, I was going through the crowd, searching for my foot and I could not find out anywhere! I didn't remember exactly when it fell off and I started to bible on my ankle, but it must have been a while ago. You would think that I would have noticed my foot falling off, and then hobbling around on the end of my ankle, but like I said it's hard to notice when you don't have nerves.

The crowd was a lot more dense than usual, making my search even more difficult. The shops would be closing soon, so practically everyone in Halloween Town was out trying to do last minute things before the day ended, especially for those that were religious and wouldn't shop on Sundays. (Monsters can be religious too. I was one of them.)

After a while of searching and having no luck, I was about to give up and head towards my sleeping house, when a female vampire came up to me, clutching my foot in her hand.

"You found it!" I cried, staring at my foot in her hand.

"Oh. It's yours," she said, handing it to me. "I didn't want to hand it in to the lost parts association..."

I laughed. "I know, right? You can't find anything that they pick up!"

I looked at her for a minute, trying to decide if she was Charlotte or Dawn. Everyone knew that there are only two female vampires, but unless you knew them individually then you didn't know which one was which. After surveying her long, messy black hair and her jeans with the hole in the knee, I decided that she was Charlotte.

"So..." I began. "Your Charlotte, right?"

She sighed. "Nope. I'm Dawn. Everyone gets us mixed up."

I groaned. "I'm so sorry! I guess I'm no better."

"That's okay," she shrugged. "Once you get to know us, we're totally different, actually. She's totally girly, and I can't stand brushing my hair twice in the same day. We're like opposites."

"Oh. Well then I'll keep this in mind, for next time we meet. Oh yes, and thank you so much for finding my foot!"

..............

That night I found myself laying in my bed, thinking about Dawn. She seemed like a nice girl, and it seemed sad that people always would mistake her for someone that was totally different than herself, just because nobody actually knew her personally. I also thought that I defiantly wanted to get to know her better.

The zombie next to me snored loudly, startling me and causing me to jump.

"Hey!" Another girl nearby hissed to me. "We are trying to sleep!"

Your face is trying to sleep, I almost shot back at her. But then, deciding that that wasn't a very good retort anyway, I ignored her instead.
