Third

"I need a break, Frank." Gerard told the younger boy.

"What?" Frank looked up at his love with big, confused eyes.

The two boys were at the park on a cold, fall, dreary day. The sky looked like smoke; spots of grey and white scattered everywhere. The leaves have already fallen off of the trees, and the wind has blown them somewhere unknown. The grass was dampened by the rain from earlier in the afternoon. The sun was hidden behind the grey clouds, making it look later than what it really was.

"I can't keep going on, Frank." Gerard told the younger boy.

"Why not?" Frank asked his love, with big, confused eyes.

Gerard wasn't happy. He was an angry, depressed boy with suicidal tendencies. When he's with Frank, he just feels like he wants to runaway and hide from everything. But when he's without Frank, he feels like he wants to find the small boy and hold him until all of their fears have disappeared without a trace. Gerard is cold with and without Frank. But the elder fears that if they're together, he'll hurt Frank, both physically and emotionally. He can't go on with Frank.

"I don't love you, Frank." Gerard lied to the younger boy.

"Why's that?" Frank asked his love, with tears in his big and confused eyes.

Frank loves Gerard. He always has. Ever since he became friends with the black haired boy back in eighth grade, Frank has loved Gerard more than anyone else. Frank was so happy with Gerard, but he knew Gerard wasn't happy. He knew his lover was depressed and bipolar. He really wanted to help him, and he thought he was doing good until Gerard brought him here. Frank wasn't the one who asked Gerard out, it was the other way around. It made the younger boy so happy when the black haired boy ask him to be his, because he could never do it himself.

"You don't make me happy, Frank." Gerard lied the younger boy.

"How can I make you happy?" Frank asked his love, still with tears in his big, confused eyes.

Everyone envied their relationship. The two boys never fought. However, they did have their small conflicts once in awhile, but they never had huge arguments that led to a breakup, or even one of them thinking about a breakup. Though Gerard wasn't happy, he didn't want to ever break Frank's heart while they were together.

"You can't." Gerard said to the younger boy and left.

Five months later, the two boys coincidentally saw each other at the same park they broke up at. Obviously, they recognized each other. It wasn't hard to forget someone's looks if you loved them as much as they loved each other. They haven't talked ever since the breakup, but Frank was still best friends with Gerard's younger brother, Mikey. But Mikey made sure to never bring up his older brother when he was around Frank.

"You look nice, Frank." The older boy said to Frank.

"You do too." Frank told his love, with sad, tired eyes.

The April weather today was absolutely beautiful. The sun was out, the birds were chirping, the grass was green and dry, and the sky was beautifully blue. It wasn't too hot out, but the breeze felt nice as it blew through the boys' hair. Gerard decided to color his hair red, and Frank grew his out. They both looked nice, besides the fact that they have dark bags under their eyes.

"How are you, Frank?" The older boy asked Frank.

"Sad." Frank told his love with tears in his sad, tired eyes.

Gerard didn't take the breakup as well as he expected. He was as depressed as ever. Before the breakup, Gerard could've sworn that Frank was the problem, but of course, he was wrong. Frank was the cure, not the problem. What Gerard didn't know was that Frank was slowly helping him before he broke up with him. Gerard wanted to get better fast, but not everything comes fast; things take time to heal.

"Why's that, Frank?" The older boy asked Frank.

"I'm just... Sad." Frank told his love, still with tears in his sad and tired eyes.

Frank was absolutely miserable. Whenever someone would try to talk to him and make conversation, he would snap. Even with Mikey, Frank would get angry. Of course, Mikey told his older brother everything Frank would do. When Frank was alone, he would cry and inflict pain on himself. He wouldn't cut, he would just pinch or scratch himself until he turned red. Frank didn't want to inflict scars on himself, because he knew he would eventually get better, and he didn't want to have scars to look at everyday.

"Why are you sad, Frank?" The older boy asked Frank.

"Because I need you, but I can't have you." Frank told his love, with tears in his sad, tired eyes.

Gerard looked at his ex with pity. He then looked down at his feet and sighed.

Frank looked off into the distance, moving his bangs out of his eyes as the wind blew them around.

"Why can't you have me, Frank?" The older boy asked Frank.

"Because I don't love you." Frank lied to his love, looking at him with his sad, tired eyes.

"Why don't you love me, Frank?" The older boy asked Frank.

"How could I love someone who makes me feel miserable?" Frank asked his love, with sad, tired eyes.

"You made me happy, Frank." The older confessed to Frank.

"You don't make me happy." Frank told the truth to his love, before he turned around and left, his sad, tired eyes watching his feet as he walked.
