Chapter 4

I woke up swinging my legs over the side of the bed causing the covers to fly and in turn Rameses flew as well.

"I'm so sorry Rameses!" I yelled worried for Rameses. I scrambled off the bed and picked up Rameses who didn't seem very pleased. I put him back down nervously laughing.

"Can you please turn around Rameses?" I asked picking up a new outfit. Rameses turned around and I got dressed as soon as I finished Rameses turned back around.

"Don't forget without a barrier I can see into your mind." Rameses stated I nodded and grabbed the pocket watch which was the last gift I got from my father and stuffed it into my pocket and took my blanket that I had since I was young and put it in the travel trunk. I grabbed the suitcase and went downstairs seeing that all our personal belongings were gone I left the suitcase with the others and went back up to get my travel trunk which Rameses was sitting on. He moved as soon as the trunk started moving. When I got back down I saw Aunt Maya sitting at the table with a

leash and harness that seemed very thin for a dog.

"It's for Rameses carrying him in a travel bag would be difficult." Aunt Maya said handing me the leash and harness. I sat in the kitchen for half an hour trying to fit the harness on Rameses he was cooperative but was just as confused about it as I was, meanwhile Aunt Maya seemed to find it pretty funny. Eventually I got the harness on him, sometime during this my sister and mother joined us in the kitchen. My mother cooked scrambled eggs and bacon and when they were done I gave a portion to Rameses. After breakfast Aunt Maya called a taxi on the phone, once the taxi got here we all packed the trunks and suitcases in the taxi before checking over the house to make sure nothing important got left behind. Once in the taxi the drive went by in silence until we reached the train station, we got out grabbed our stuff and got tickets Rameses obviously got a few stares but was let on the train without hassle. It wasn't the travel kind of train it was the kind that served food and had sleeping rooms. Sorcha and I ended up sharing a room we each had one bed on either side of the room and a short table in between next to the window, the train person placed our trunks in our room. I shoved my trunk under the bed and put my suitcase next to the bed Rameses jumped onto the bed sitting tall.

Sorcha decided to use her laptop to communicate with people on the internet.

"Morgan it would be best if you learned how to telepathically communicate, merely direct a thought to me, a phrase, an emotion, something." Rameses told me

"Why?"I asked hoping that I did it right.

"You wouldn't want people seeing you talk to a cat now would you?"Rameses replied.

"So what now?" I asked

" now it's time to create a barrier, that way you can have private thoughts and direct the things I need to know to me, it could also help you against what you call a mind reader." Rameses replied.

"Okay so how do I do that?" I asked

"Imagine a wall or something around your mind and

direct spiritual energy towards that thought, once you do

that choose a memory any strong memory and imagine it taking the form of a lock, now place that lock on the wall."Rameses replied, I did exactly what he said hoping I did it right.

"Did I do it right?" I asked

"Yes you did well done." Rameses replied sounding surprised. I pulled out my trunk and fished out the chess set before placing it on the table.

"Do you want to play Sorcha?" I asked.

"No." Sorcha replied not even looking up from her laptop.

"What about you?" I asked Rameses who nodded in agreement, so I moved the chess board in between us and set up the pieces.

"I have never played this game." Rameses stated not willing to look at me. I explained the rules of chess twice over and answered the few questions Rameses had. The game was soon underway I could see that Rameses was smart and even prodigical at chess, I ended up winning the game since I had been playing for much longer.

"One day I will teach you how to play Senet, I doubt that

you will find it displeasing." Rameses stated once the game was over. I recognized the name Senet from the book I read about egypt, Rameses curled up on the foot of the bed. I returned the chess set to the trunk before getting my laptop and looked up 'Senet egypt'. I found a article about it that claimed it used a 3 by 10 space board and had five pieces per player, apparently it was a popular game throughout ancient Egypt's history. If Rameses knew about this game then he must have spent time as a living person in ancient Egypt. We traveled by train for most of the day until the sun started setting.

"Gather your stuff girls we are going to stay the night at a hotel." Aunt Maya said looking into our compartment, Rameses yawned and stretched waking up from his cat nap. Once the train stopped we gathered our stuff and I grabbed Rameses leash, Aunt Maya seemed to be on edge and was rushing to get us to the hotel. The hotel she brought us to was lavishly decorated, the desk lady told us that we would be on the top floor. A few assistants came and took our trunks from us, the five of us headed to the elevator. The hotel must have gone up at least ten stories, when we got to the room I was stunned it was luxurious beyond belief, I had never even seen a place like this.

"Girls, your room is around the corner and at the end of the hall." Aunt Maya told us sending us away, I don't understand adults it wasn't like we wouldn't find out what they were talking about eventually. The room had a king sized bed with a gilded canopy, Sorcha dropped her suitcase and jumped onto the bed the covers giving way showing how fluffy they were. Our trunks were already at the end of the bed, I set my suitcase down and removed Rameses leash and harness before sitting on the bed myself. The bed was extremely soft and comfortable, as soon as I sat down Rameses jumped onto the bed as well.

"When are you going to get rid of that creepy cat?" Sorcha asked turning her head sideways glaring at Rameses.

"I have no intention of losing him." I replied coldly I might not have known him for long but I knew he would never

hurt me it was just a gut feeling that he was my friend.

"Morgan, just leave and cool off." Rameses stated in warning he could sense the storm brewing between my sister and I.

"That cat is the cause of all of this if it weren't for him we would be at home right now." Sorcha yelled back pushing herself up to look at me.

"If it weren't for him I could be dead or worse." I yelled back grabbing Rameses and holding him close to me.

"Do you even care that we had to leave home?" Sorcha asked angrily.

"Morgan, do-" Rameses tried to warn me.

"No I don't cause we are still a family, I don't care if we are a family in that house or on the road." I yelled nothing had really changed for me so it really didn't matter where I was as long as I had my family.

"Well it's easy for you cause you never had any friends to begin with and it's no wonder that you don't your stupid, don't care about anyone but yourself and you always have your nose in a book!" Sorcha yelled in reply I got off the bed without a second thought, grabbed Rameses' leash and harness before storming out of the room and eventually the hotel room. At the door Sorcha ran to catch up to me so I started running I wanted nothing to do with her at the moment. I could hear her calling after me but I ignored her. I ran into the elevator Rameses was probably suffering from a concussion with how much he was being shaken by my running, I hit the button for the first floor. Sorcha almost made it to the elevator in time but was just a bit too late I realized she would know where I was going so I hit the second floor button since the hotel had an atrium and cafe on that floor. In the elevator I put Rameses down and put on his harness and leash.

"Are you alright Rameses?" I asked

"I should be asking you that, but I am fine" Rameses replied. The two of us fell into silence. To be honest I was thankful I needed time to think. When we reached the second floor Rameses and I headed straight for the atrium the two of us sat at a booth seat. The man who had walked me to school approached the two of us.
