- Deeper Connections -
Taehyung's POV
A huge wave of water appeared from beneath me, my body pushed forward, the wave taking me over to the section where the ice and water rested. I hummed, smiling when the water began to disappear, turning around to see Glacius and Drift right behind me.
"So, chosen one, let's start this training." I smirked, cracking my knuckles, looking up at both of them. Glacius formed a chair made of pure ice, sitting down, looking at his brother and I. "One at a time, don't you think?" Drift let out a hearty chuckle, nodding slowly.
"Alright, Taehyung, for this, you'll need full control of your body and heavy concentration." I hummed, nodding, my fingers twitching a bit. "To let your magic out, you need to believe. Feel it flow through your veins, feel the magic course through your body." It was almost like, at the mention of Drift's words, the power coursed through me.
"Feel it?" Drift laughed, my eyes meeting his. "Yeah, I do." With a small smile, Drift raised his fingers up, using his index finger to point at the wall ahead of us. "Now, magic requires both the mind and the heart. Think about what you want it to do." I glanced at Drift, taking a deep breath.
I thought about what I wanted the water to do, my lips twitching up to form a small smile. What I wanted was for the water to eject from my fingers, pouring onto the ground below me. I felt myself gasp, lips parting open, eyes widening when water poured from my fingers like a faucet.
"There we go," Drift laughed, patting my back, the water continuing to pour "Don't use too much, otherwise it'll drain you." I hummed, thinking about the water coming to a stop, almost like a faucet yet again. It stopped, the water evaporating, the ground left dry and untouched.
"As I said, magic relies on your mind and heart. If you think what you want to do with your magic, it'll come true. You also have to love what you're capable of, otherwise, you won't get anywhere." I nodded, seeing the other six work with their gods to begin using their magic.
"Look, we need to train you to act under tough conditions, but I don't want to throw that onto you without a little bit of training." Glacius rolled his eyes, letting out a dry chuckle, standing up at glancing over at Smoldris.
"Let him experience it first hand, otherwise he'll never learn." I cocked an eyebrow, staring up at the Ice God, hearing him whistle loudly. "Smoldris! Can we get some flames over here?" Smoldris cocked an eyebrow, much like I was doing, cracking his knuckles.
"What for? You want me to burn the whole training room down?" Glacius chuckled yet again, ice spikes forming from around him, my lips parting open. "It's called training for a reason, are you in or not? You're the fire god, give me some fire."
With a shrug, Smoldris sent fire flying onto the ground and walls around my section, my eyes narrowing as the flames increased the temperature and began to spread quickly. Training, Taehyung. You have to put it out. I ran towards the fire, stretching my hands outwards, watering shooting from the palm.
The fire was out in five minutes max, smoke rising up and dissipating into the air, Smoldris' eyebrows raising up in shock. My own two gods were laughing lowly, their deep chuckles sending some sort of vibration through my body. I found myself smiling, my eyes darting down to stare at my palms.
This was so cool.
"Seems he's got it, Drift." Glacius smiled, patting my back, looking down at me. "Allow me to help you use my magic." I hummed, stepping aside, his fingers pointed towards the area where the flames were, ice shooting out in forms of spikes and flying straight into the wall.
"Ice is dangerous, very dangerous. Not only is it cold, and can give hypothermia, it's sharp enough to cut and kill. It's like a knife, in a sense." I raised my eyebrows, seeing a large ice spike from within his hand, his lips twitching to form a smirk.
"Just like Drift taught you, think of what you want to make or do, believe you can, and love your power." I nodded, staring down at my hand, imagining an ice spike as big as a hunting knife. The ice formed in my palm, the edges sharp.
"Throw it." I did, sending it flying right into the wall, seeing it cut through the wood with ease. Holy shit. "Ice is underestimated, for the most part, but little do others realize how dangerous it is." I nodded, smiling at Glacius, seeing him return it.
"You won't get anywhere with your magic if you don't love it, that comes before control and concentration." Drift and Glacius exchanged a glance, eyes flickering over one another. "You can make your magic do anything, Taehyung, but not if you don't love it."
Glacius smile, closing his fist then reopening it, a little ice sculpture of a dolphin resting in his hands. I gasped, eyes widening, my eyes shining with adoration. "How did you do that?" He smiled, handing me the dolphin, the ice never melts away.
"Keep it. Wear it around your neck, it'll remind you of what you're capable of." Just as his words rang through my ears, a chain made of water and ice connected with the small ice dolphin, wrapping around my neck and hanging against my chest.
"Magic can take practice because it's not always going to be easy, but if you love what you do, it'll make the process a lot more enjoyable." I stared down at the dolphin, admiring its intense detail and precision. It's ice, yet it looked so magical.
"You can make anything with ice, from sculptures to spikes. You can do the same with water, from waves to statutes. It just depends on you, your love for it, and your control." I nodded, letting my eyes shine brightly, a wide grin upon my face.
"Teach me." They smirked, nodding, extending their hands. "Think fast." They sent water and ice my way, my mind barely able to register what they were doing. Just as the ice and water were about to hit me, a large shield of dark magic formed around me, my eyes widening more.
They even seemed taken aback, the ice and water disappearing, as well as the dark magic. Soros? I looked at my right bicep, seeing the intricate tattoo darken again, then flash light, then darken. What the hell was that?
"How did you do that?" Drift asked slowly, eyes focused on me, a little taken aback by the dark magic ability. I shook my head, just as confused as they were. "I didn't do anything. I could barely even register what you two were doing, and when I finally did, the magic was already shielding me."
"Tell me, Taehyung, that's not the first time I happened, huh?" I shook my head, my eyes flickering over to see Jungkook and his god, Smoldris, working on their magic. I gulped, staring up at both Glacius and Drift. "No, when Smoldris was introducing himself, the water and ice formed a shield around me when his flames sparked."
They exchanged a glance, smiling at one another then down at me. "You know what this means, correct?" I frowned. "I'm afraid not." They smiled even more, pointing a finger at my heart, both water and ice seeping from their pointed index fingers.
"It means that you don't control magic with your mind." Huh? Then, how do I control it? I looked down, seeing the water and ice seep right into my chest, and into what I assumed was my heart, my eyes widening. "Your magic is coming from your heart."
"But how?" They stopped, looking at one another again. "Taehyung, I'm afraid we don't have an answer for you." I gulped, looking down at my chest, my heart thumping loudly in my chest. "So, what does this mean?" They shook their heads, looking a little down, flashing a small smile.
"We don't know, Taehyung. We've never seen anyone experience something like this before, so we cannot give you the answers you seek." I frowned again, my eyes darting down to my biceps, the black swirls on my arm darkening again.
Soros? Maybe he knew?
"Glacius, Drift," I spoke, looking at my palms, seeing them flash a dark blue and a light blue color. "How can I find Soros?" They both frowned, taking a step closer to me, leaning down so only I could hear them. "Truth is, none of us know where he goes and how he gets there."
I frowned too, staring down at my right bicep, my eyes narrowing on the dark swirl. Come on, Soros. I know you have a way for me to get to you. He said to call, but how can I do that? My eyes widened, my mouth parting open in shock, words flooding my mind.
That's no mere accident, there's a reason behind those words. What do I do, say them? "A lonely heart will ponder, to the depths of the blackened sea. A lonely soul will wander, for infinity." The darkness engulfed me, my being transported to a dark and eerie place, my eyes narrowed.
"Seems you're smart after all, aren't you, Kim?" I smirked, spinning around to meet Soros' eyes, his arms crossed over his chest. "So, what did you need?" I gulped, taking a step closer to him, letting him guide me through the dark palace he called his, at least that's what it seemed like.
"It's about my magic." He hummed, taking a seat upon his throne, eyes flickering with mischief. "What about it?" I took a deep breath, standing before him, a small smile on my face. "Glacius and Drift say it's not coming from my body, but from my heart." His eyes widened, eyebrows furrowing a bit. "Impossible."
"Look! I don't know how, but when Glacius and Drift sent their magic at me without me knowing, your magic shielded me from the attack," I explained, raising my hands up a bit, seeing his eyes wide with shock, "and I didn't think to do it, okay? I haven't even mastered water or ice, how could I have?"
His mouth was parted, his features holding nothing but shock, both awfully still. "That's... that's impossible. How did... how did they manage to find a soul like you?" Wait, what? "Huh? Look, they didn't know anything about this, so I came to you. Can you help me?"
He sighed, standing up again, sending a nod my way. "It's a little hard to explain, so hopefully you'll understand." I listened, waiting for his words to leave his lips. "Magic is magic, it's capable of doing a lot, and one of those capabilities is being able to reach inside a person's emotions."
"Usually, magic is seen to be controlled with the mind and the mind only. Your magic won't work unless you let your mind tell it to do something." I found myself nodding, staring up at the God of Darkness. "That's not exactly the case with you."
"You can still control your magic with your mind, but when Glacius and Drift first transferred their magic into you, it reached a deeper part of your body than just your veins." I furrowed my eyebrows, finding myself a little confused but letting him continue to explain.
"To put it in simpler terms," He sighed, magic swirling around him, "your magic connected with you in a way that the others' magic didn't." I cocked an eyebrow, crossing my arms over my chest. "So, you're saying that I somehow have a deeper connection with my magic power?"
"That's exactly what I'm saying, Kim." I froze, looking up at the god, shock laced within my features. "Your magic connects to you on an emotional level, meaning your emotions can affect your magic ability." I gasped, taking a step back.
"Let's say, for example, someone very important to you was killed. Let's also say you saw it happen right before your eyes." I nodded hesitantly, waiting for him to continue again. "If you feel a sudden rush of rage, your magic feels it too. Meaning, if you use your magic, the power of it is doubled, maybe even tripled."
"A common one you might find is water. When you get angry, your water magic will be boiling hot when you use it." My mouth dropped open, heart racing within my chest. "That's what your magic is." I tried to process his words, looking down at my palms.
"Allow me to demonstrate for you." I met his eyes, seeing these dark, eerie tendrils of magic seep from his arms and legs, rushing at me in seconds. Before they could reach me, water and ice formed a protective boundary around my body, the tendrils prohibited from touching me.
"See?" I nodded slowly, the tendrils never disappearing. "Your magic reaches into your emotions. It's almost like a personality, in a sense. It protects you, not just acts as some weapon." It began to make sense, the pieces of the puzzle slowly forming the picture.
"So, if something rushed at me in a fight, my magic would protect me?" He hummed, letting the tendrils of black magic return to his body, my water and ice boundary slowly disappearing. "It revolves around your feelings, your emotions. Anger, sadness, happiness, envy, it just depends."
"The stronger your emotion, the deadlier your magic." Woah. So, my emotions will determine my magic power? I met Soros' eyes, seeing him smirk, arms crossed over his chest. "That seems to go for all your magic, not just water or ice. You said my dark magic did it too, correct?"
I nodded slowly, my eyes never leaving his. "If you want my advice, I'd say look at your magic as a personality. It protects you, it fights with you, not for you. It's there for you." As bizarre as it sounded, he had a point. It may be magic, but for me, my magic was connected on a deeper level.
Meaning I had to look at it as more than just magic.
"Oh, and, Kim?" I hummed, snapping out of my small trance, my eyes meeting his again, seeing him sit upon his throne once more. "There's another thing." I waited, seeing that mischievous glint flash through his eyes, the smirk widening. "While the other six run out of magic after a good amount of time, yours runs a little differently."
"It's infinite."

Why do you think Taehyung's magic abilities connect to him on a deeper level than the others?
What's your impression of Soros? Is he up to good or bad?
Just because he's the God of Darkness, does that make him evil?
I purple you 💜
