Chapter 6

Weekends came by quickly and Lana and Hailey finally had some break. During breakfast , David invited them to a get-together with his friends at Starbucks.

~At Starbucks ~
Opening the door of Starbucks, David gave way to Hailey and Lana. David asked a waitress the way to the Executive Room. Hailey and Lana trailed behind him.

Five people sat on the cozy sofa, with a table in the centre. David entered first. A handsome young boy stood up, patting and hugging David in a manly hug. David introduced Hailey and Lana to them.

"This is Hailey and Lana and they've taken my rented house. They've joined Fonseka Data Company and are working as Assistants" he looked at Lana and Hailey and continued "These are my friends - this is our al-boss Alex Luston " he said motioning to the handsome young boy who patted him earlier "This is Bethany Sanders" motioning to a fair-skinned woman. "Cody Mendes , the best fighter we have " a young but tall and well-built man waved at them.Lana smiled back as Hailey glanced at all the people present there.

Occupying a L-shaped sofa, they sat down, all eyes staring intently at them.

"It has been quite long years since we left high school..."

Lana looked up at the speaker and instantly met the golden eyes of Alex. His perfect teeth moved rhythmically uttering words in his mind. His chisel - shaped jaw was held up with dignity and pride. His silver and greyish hair was shinning and flowing in the cool air. He spoke captivating all the listeners in the room.

Lana regained back to reality by the nudging of Hailey.

" Uh....what?" Lana looked up blankly.
"Why did you both decide to shift here? You would've got a better job in your country." Bethany asked.

"Washington do have good job opportunities but the salary wasn't upto what we seeked. In another point of view it would've been good since I would've stayed at home with our parents." Hailey replied.

"Wait...so you both are sisters? " Cody asked, surprised.

"Nope....she's more likely my bestie. Her parents adopted me after I lost my parents in an accident. Since then I've been living with them and we attended the same high school at Washington even though she is three years younger than me. She got lots of scholarships which made her come to my level pretty soon and sometimes I wonder why did she join me here when she could have got a far decent job somewhere else." Lana smiled at the old memories , flooding through her mind.

"Oh! Wow! We were a bunch too since our childhood. We had always been the best and our unity was too strong that nothing could ever break us apart. Cody ,David and I first met in kindergarten. Alex was our neighbor back then. We hanged out together. David was not really good at making friends as his questions made awkward conversations and ended up being alone. I was quite surprised when he called us and told that he made friends with you girls." Bethany chuckled , looking at David.

" Hey! I'm really not that bad at making friends. The thing is I never get good friend to keep by my side." David protested.

Lana , who was busy staring at Alex , suddenly blutered out "Alex, do you wear contacts? "
" Nah. Many of my classmates back then thought the same too. I guess I got a natural enchanting colour for my eyes." Alex said, giving a side-smirk.

Lana could feel the energy radiating out of him. His eyes...she felt she knew them from somewhere. She may have seen them before. Hailey looked up at Lana, who has zoned out for a while.

"We used to go camping to Woodston Ridge every year when we stayed with our parents together. Life is so boring without camps..." Hailey held Lana's arm , bobbling and whinning like a baby and continued " I'm missing camping and I want to go! "

Lana, taken aback, looked at her biwildered.
" And someone says that I look like an octopus" Lana murmured.

David and Bethany cracked up, bursting into fits of laughter.

It was the first day Lana and Hailey enjoyed at Manhattan and made new friends at Starbucks. They became unexpectedly close even if they met just a few hours back. Lana felt that New York was better than she had imagined after joining as a personal assistant.
