Chapter 4
"Leave me alone! Let me sleep!" Lana whined, as Hailey tried to wake up her friend.
"Fine. Dont you go to work and get fired on your first day. Sleep happily ever after then..." Hailey stated sarcastically, putting her hand on her hips.
Kicking off the bedsheets down the bed, Lana sat up scratching her head. She glanced at the alarm clock which read 9:20 am. Her small sleepy eyes turned wide as she ran all around the room gathering clothes to wear. Putting over a black jacket over her white shirt and denim jeans, she headed out grabbing an apple from the table. Hailey joined her and both of them got on the streets of NYC.
~30 minutes later~
On entering the lobby, Rebecca looked sharply and transferred them in. Lana ran and opened her boss's office door.
Liam looked up at her.
"One minute 20 seconds late on the first day, Ms. Winters."
"I'm sorry sir. Won't be repeating it from next time." Lana replied.
He ignored it and gave her a bunch of files.
"Give the documents to Ms. Jennifer and instruct her to check the expiry date of the folios of each clients."
Lana bowed and left.
She collected the files and went away.
Returning back, she knocked on her boss's office and entered.
"Schedule my today's routine." Liam said without looking up from his paperwork.
"Yes, sir."
Lana went to the adjacent room and sat down in front of the computer.
~Time Skip ~
Lana's first day turned out to be hectic as she ran after Liam, who was busy attending meeting after meetings.
After the last meeting that day, Liam and Lana entered their office car, a BMW. Both of them sat away from each other, busy doing their jobs.

Lana scratched out the checklist for the day and looked out of the window. The streetlights glowed brightly on the busy road of New York. She checked her watch. It was past seven in the evening.
Somehow, she felt the urge to look up at her boss.
As per her instincts, she looked up. Liam's dyed black hair was shining which fell above his eyes, covering his forehead. His fancy glasses were balanced on the edge of his nose. The blue orbs were prevented from being viewed as his eyes were relaxingly closed. His head rested on the headrest of the car. Pinkish lips, looking equally gorgeous stood out too.
She was broken off her daydream when Mr. Fonseka murmured ,
"Stop staring like that. It doesn't always have a good impression...you know?"
Taken aback, Lana stuttered, "I'm....I'm so sorry Sir. I was just busy thinking...." She awkwardly looked outside her window, flushing a mixture of red and pink and thinking...
How? How did he know? As far as I remember I think his eyes were closed, wasn't it?
Liam smirked opening his right eye lazily and looking at flushed Lana and shutting them back to get back to his previous posture.
