"Ah Miss, you're finally awake" a nurse smiled at me as I quickly sat up and looked around with wide eyes, trying to remember what happened. These actions brought sharp pain to my head and I slowly lay back down, placing a cold hand on my forehead.
"W-what happened?" I coughed out. The nurse smiled softly and walked over to the door, calling for someone. A tall man walked in, his hair curly and gingery brown, while his eyes a cold blue, his jawline sharp just like his cheekbones . He looked...very familiar.
"He will explain everything to you" The nurse smiled before walking out and closing the door. The man walked forward as though nervously and with an apologetic soft smile on his face. He sat down slowly on a chair beside the bed and licked his lips, trying to figure out a way to start the conversation.
I stared at him, trying to remember where I'd seen him before.
He's the guy that-
"How are you feeling" the man's soft voice interrupted me from my thoughts, making me look up with wide eyes to stare at him before realising he asked me a question.
"My head hurts and I think I have a bruise on my side but apart from that I think I'm fine" I hummed in response, slowly trying to sit up once more. This time it didn't hurt that much and soon the pain in my head faded. The man nodded, "I see. I um-" He looked down and took in a sharp breath, " I am very sorry for what happened. I didn't notice you. You just appeared on the road so suddenly" he frowned. I looked up at him, shaking her head,
"No no I was just being my clumsy self as always!" I exclaimed with a frown.
"Miss please don't put the blame on yourself. I was the one that didn't look at the road properly and hit you with my car and-" The guy blabbered until getting suddenly interrupted by my question out of the blue.
"What time is it?" I blurted out, deciding to change the subject.
"I-I'm sorry?" The guy stuttered, shocked from my sudden outburst "Oh um-" he shook his head and lifted his arm, pushing the sleeve of his jacket away to reveal a watch. He furrowed his eyebrows and then lowered his hand to look up at me, "ten in the morning. Don't worry You've only been asleep for the night" he smiled trying to assure me that everything is okay.
That would've just about worked if I didn't suddenly remember that I was late for work. I was absolutely crazy about work, and even though I pretended I hated it, it was the most important thing in my life right now. I jumped up with wide eyes, trying to get out of bed but just as my feet touched the ground and I attempted to stand up, my legs gave up on me and I fell, the man catching me before i could hit the ground.
"No no Miss! Please stay in bed!" He frowned, placing me back on the bed. He called me Miss?
"Well excuse me I've got work to get to Mr" I huffed, attempting to stand up again, but his strong hands held me down.
"I'm sorry Miss I'm just trying to make sure you're okay. After all I hit you with my car. I'll do anything you say honestly" the guy looked at me apologetically. I sighed and stopped trying to push his hands off, laying my head back on the pillow and turning away from him.
"Jeez. And stop calling me Miss, I've got a name. Or I'll continue calling you Mister" I muttered.
"I'm sorry, Uh, I'm Tom" I glanced back to see him offer his hand for a handshake and turned around,
"I'm Charlie" I smiled slightly, shaking his hand.
"Well Charlie I apologise for hitting you with my car" Tom smiled also, sitting up.

"You've apologised like five times already" I chuckled, sitting up in bed. Tom scratched the back of his neck in embarrassment and chuckled awkwardly,
"Uh Yeah sor- I mean I tend to do that a lot" he replied.
The doors all of a sudden burst open and Leah rushed in, pulling me into a bone crunching hug. That damn blonde . She blubbered on about something which was so fast that sounded like another language. Probably how she was worried about me.
"Leah! You're-going-to-break-me!" I huffed out, noticing Tom watching them awkwardly. He shifted in his seat uncomfortably before pulling out a piece of paper and scribbling something down. Just as Leah pulled away with an apologetic smile, Tom stood up, shoving the piece of paper in my hand before waving goodbye and leaving. I watched him without a word, Leah finally letting me go as she sat down on the chair where the guy sat a few minutes ago.
"Gosh when I got the message I couldn't fall back asleep" Leah huffed. I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion. Message? What message? I don't remember sending anyone a message. Wait. Where even is my phone? And my bag. What the hell?
"Leah what message?" I asked, looking up at the girl.
"Oh someone texted me from your phone and told me to go to this hospital in the morning" Leah shrugged. I hummed and nodded in response, glancing down at my hand which still held the note. My shaky hands carefully unfolded the piece of paper and my lips formed a thin smile as I read the messy writing. A phone number and a "forever at your service". Oh how original.
