Andie slashed through the door with her sword, causing its wood to splinter into pieces. The twelve parliamentary demons still sat there on their benches, although the audience was gone.

"A human?" said pompously by the member standing at the central podium. "How did you escape the torture chambers?"

"Nevermind that." Andie made her sword disappear and stormed up to the demon at the podium. "You're going to tell me what you know about the demon known as Rob."

All of the demons began to laugh.

Tetra's eerie voice rang in Andie's brain. "They think you're weak."

"Shut up, I know you're not real." Andie turned to the leader with a pained expression on her face. "Tell us or I won't be able to hold back my Demon Blade." It blazed to life in her hand and she held it in front of his eyes. She heard him swallow whatever moisture was left in his mouth.

"We don't...talk about that traitor." The demon sighed. "He defected from the high court after being dispelled by those silly humans upstairs. We haven't seen him since."

"You're lying." She nudged the tip of the sword closer to him.

He raised his hands. "No, no, really. We haven't seen him."

"I've seen him." Andie turned to the source of the voice. The remark had come from the demon closest to the now-absent door.

"Hrodebert, you know him as Rob, was one of my good friends for a long time. Sadly, his views led him to want to adopt a more human name. But he was the best of us. He came to visit me before leaving to inhabit Cloud 8."

Andie dissolved her sword. "Do you know where he is now?"

"Last I heard, he's gone away from here. He's still down in Circle One somewhere, but I'm not sure where."

"He knows where Rob is," came Tetra's voice again.

Andie whacked her head violently before continuing. "I guess I'll let you all live."

She dusted off her jacket, which she'd salvaged from one of the torture areas, and walked slowly out of the room backward, facing the demons as she did. Once she exited the room, Andie turned to see the rest of the demons waiting for her outside.

She drew her sword readily and rushed into battle. One by one, every demon fell by her hand. A certain peace came about her knowing they'd go through the regeneration process once more now that they were dead, but it was over as soon as it began.

The hunger returned to her, so she collected a bit of the dust of the fallen and stuffed it in her mouth, hoping it might calm her stomach. With that, she put her sword away and trudged on to her destination.
