Chapter three
Lacey:
She sighed deeply as she pulled into the driveway. It had been at least 10 years since Lacey has set foot on this property. It felt good to be back.
The last layer of paint her grandfather had applied that final summer was chipped and added to the vintage look of the farm. She tried not to remember the night that her life lost its meaning.
'Focus!' She told herself. For precautionary measures she decided she had to dump the car. If anyone recognised the plates from it when she headed in this direction her whole plan could fall through.
She began searching the vehicle for any useful items. From the glove box she recovered a Swiss Army knife and some useless cosmetics. In the handbag she found some paracetamol and a handgun which might be useful. It was only loaded with one round though.
Having found everything slightly useful in the body of the car she walked around to the trunk...
Tyrone:
Whoever had been rummaging through the front of the car was now headed in his direction. He braced himself against the floor of the boot.
The person paused at the hatch before lifting the handle and unlocking the door to Tyrone's freedom. He wasted no time.
As soon as a sliver of light reached his starved eyes he pounced and tackled the person who had held him against his will.
"Oof!" A small voice cried beneath his large body. He looked down to the person whom he had flattened and was immediately taken aback. This was definitely not the woman who had kidnapped him. She probably had no idea he was previously concealed in the boot of the car.
Even in the state she was in, she was utterly beautiful. She had dark auburn hair that hung just below her shoulders and was livened with an array of natural curls. Her ice blue eyes pierced into him with accusation. A patch of clay mud was smeared on a small area of her chin right next to her dimples and he fought the urge to wipe it away.
Tyrone had never met anyone more breathtaking in his life. Just when he thought she couldn't get any better, she did the unexpected.
Lacey:
Surprised from the initial shock of being bowled over by a ransom hidden in the trunk of the car, all she could do was lay beneath the pressure of his weight.
Her eyes bore into his and she tried to make herself look as menacing as possible. He seemed distracted for that moment and so she used the opportunity to quickly push his body off of her and point the gun she found in the car to his pretty face.
He slowly backed up a bit and held his hands up in surrender. He now looked just as shocked as she had.
"Who are you and why were you hiding in the trunk?!?" She spit out, attempting to make herself look intimidating.
"You mean, you don't know who I am?" He replied with a mild look of confusion in his eyes.
"No... Should I?"she said, returning his look of confusion.
"No I guess not. Look can you put that thing away? It's kind of making me uncomfortable.
Lacey looked at the gun held tightly in her hand and reluctantly brought it down.
"Thank you," he sighed. "My name's Tyrone and the reason I was in the trunk of the car is because I was captured... By a girl" he said slowly, testing her patience.
