2. Unbelievable

"Hey, girl! What took you so long?" Alya waved her over from where she sat near the front of the arranged seats.

"Sorry!" Marinette gave an apologetic grin at her best friend and quickly sat down in the row behind her, where her seat was placed. "I lost track of time... again."

Letting out a laugh, Alya playfully rolled her eyes and looked at Marinette. "Of course you did. In the three years I've known you, you haven't changed once." Smiling, she shook her head at Marinette before turning back around as the ceremony started.

It was strange to be there. Getting her miraculous almost felt like yesterday, but it also felt like she'd known Chat and Tikki forever. Just three years ago she had been a normal girl in a normal world, completely oblivious to the supernatural wonders of the miraculous. She still wondered sometimes about what life would be like if she hadn't been chosen. Looking back, her life would probably be so boring and bland compared to now.

Marinette was taken out of her thoughts as her name was called, and she walked up to the stage. The entire thing was almost a blur, and she was relieved that she didn't fall over during any of it, but she had done it. Everyone in the room had done it. After three long years of high school, they were graduating. She saw her parents in the crowd when she descended the steps, and they waved to her as she smiled and held her diploma in the air for them to see. She knew that she needed to sit there for another hour or two to get through the entire graduating classes and speeches, but she was too giddy to care.

What seemed like mere minutes passed by, but soon it was over and they were all free from Collège Françoise Dupont. She lost her friends in the crowd as they all rushed outside to greet one another. She found them a couple minutes later as Alya grabbed her arm and pulled her over to the side.

"We did it!" Alya screamed, hugging her and jumping up and down. Marinette laughed as she jumped with her and hugged her back. Soon enough, her entire class was there too, laughing, hugging, and crying.

"I've gotta be honest, Marinette." Chloé came up beside her and slung an arm around her neck. "I'm surprised you didn't trip and fall up there."

"Chloé!" Alya said, whacking her on the arm with her diploma.

"Sorry, Sorry!" Chloé laughed, ducking out of the way of a second swing from Alya's rolled up piece of paper.

Snorting, Marinette watched as Alya and Chloé played a game of cat and mouse. It took awhile, but Chloé was actually a friend now. Not a very close one, but a friend nonetheless. She never really got over her abrupt rejection from the position of Queen Bee, but it wasn't mentioned as much as it was before.

A half hour later found them all at a table in Chloé's family hotel, eating food prepared by Alya's mother, and discussing what they would do and where they were going now that they'd all graduated. Half the class was planning on moving to North America to attend colleges and universities that held their interests, but the rest would stay in France. Alya was planning on going to the USA to pursue her journaling career, but she promised to keep in touch the entire time.

Nino was staying in Paris for the time being, since he didn't really have a plan yet. Adrien was also heading over to America, but he wouldn't be on the same plane as Alya when it was time to leave. Chloé was staying to learn how to take care of the hotel, Max and Sabrina were going to Canada, Juleka and Rose were staying in Paris, Mylène was heading to California with Ivan, Nathanaël was staying with Marc, and Alix and Kim were still planning on what to do.

Marinette was staying in Paris to pursue her dream of becoming a fashion designer. She would've liked to go abroad to America or Canada like some of her classmates, but she couldn't leave Paris on its own. Chat had already come to her with the news that he was moving for a couple years. It would be hard without him, but she'd manage. So much was changing in such a short time span, but it wasn't something to cry about. It was time to be happy and toast to new beginnings.

As she sat there surrounded by her classmates, Marinette smiled at the thought of the next chapter in her life and let herself get lost in the night. Tomorrow would bring new changes, but for now it was time to celebrate. And in that moment, it was truly unbelievable.
