3. Hurry

Marinette was always in a hurry these days. Between school, work, and being Ladybug, she was always rushing and it was hard to find time to herself. Despite the fact that Hawkmoth hadn't actually been very active for the past few years, she was still on alert just in case he decided to come back full force again sometime soon. Chat was still away and as much as she didn't want to admit it, his absence had taken a toll on her.

"Marinette! Can you deliver this order please?"

Taking a deep breath, Marinette braced herself for more social interaction before going downstairs to the bakery and grabbing the delivery.

"Thanks, Marinette." Her mother smiled at her before turning to pull some pastries out of the oven.

"No problem Maman." Marinette checked the location and was relived to see that it was for Chloé. At least she didn't have to pretend to be cheery around her. Chloé was just as, or perhaps even more, stressed than Marinette was at the moment. Her parents were away for the next week, so that meant that Chloé had to run the hotel by herself. She had the staff to help of course, but it was still a heavy task for her.

A few minutes later she pulled up at the hotel. She set her bike aside and headed into the large building, going straight up to Chloé's room. She has gotten her drivers license awhile ago, but she never got around to actually getting a car. It could be a pain sometimes, but she really didn't mind for the most part.

Chloé opened the door with a scowl that melted into a relieved expression as soon as she saw Marinette and the box.

"Oh thank god." Chloé stepped aside and let Marinette enter before closing the door and throwing herself on the couch. "Just put it on the table. I'm too exhausted to even stress eat right now."

"That bad?" Marinette set the box down and sat down beside Chloé, albeit a bit more gracefully. She snorted at the thought. A few years ago that would've been the most ridiculous things to ever cross her mind

"They're just so stupid. One of the guests asked me if we had room service earlier! There is a sign in the lobby that is one of the first things you see when you walk into the hotel that says there is room service available at every hour of the day! There are pamphlets in all of the rooms that says room service is available! It says so on our website! Our greetings speech even says it!"

Marinette couldn't help but laugh at Chloé's predicament. It was too amusing to keep quiet at. She couldn't even pretend to be sympathetic at this point. Chloé just groaned in frustration and glared at Marinette out of the corner of her eye.

"That's not even the worst part, though. The guest is someone who's been here at the same time every year for the past ten years. And they've been here for at least three days already, too! They've ordered room service already." Chloé threw her hands up in exasperation and opened the box of pastries. She grabbed a danish and fell back against the couch, chewing angrily.

Marinette snickered and jabbed Chloé in the ribs with her elbow. "I'm so glad Maman and Papa haven't decided that they can take a vacation sometime soon."

Chloé batted her arm away and groaned again. "Don't rub it in or I'll drag you over here one day so you can experience it first hand."

Marinette raised her arms in surrender as she tried not to laugh again. "Okay, okay! I won't say a word." She mimicked zipping her mouth shut and could only hold her straight face for another five seconds before a smile slipped through.

Chloé narrowed her eyes and tossed a pillow at Marinette.
